Arts Proficiency Category
The Arts Proficiency Category summarizes all the Proficiency Skills which are related to Character capacity for Arts, both for in-game Roleplay, as well as Progression Report Skills, which may be relevant to some Craft Skill Checks. These Skills are fairly broad, for example, Visual Arts covers a wide range of sketching, drawing, painting, carving, and architecture, so it is up to the player to specialize the character to apply this knowledge and skill where applicable.
Musical Arts Proficiency covers the musical talents of vocal music, orchestral composition, individual piece music writing, playing instruments and generally understanding the cultural musical tastes. Visual Arts Proficiency covers the designing and production of visually artistic pieces ranging from sketching to drawing, sculpting, carving, pottery, painting and even architecture. Points put towards this skill increase the quality of anything produced within any of these artistic categories.
Threads Arts Proficiency covers the designing and production of thread based crafts. Metallurgy Arts Proficiency covers the designing and creation of Metallurgy based products, more precisely the rougher crafts. This includes but is not limited to knowing where to find substances like copper, tin, iron, where and how to extract them, how to blast furnace them and how to forge and otherwise craft them into usable objects. Proficiency points put into this Proficiency lead to higher quality items produced, as well as increasing the purity of the metal casting. What sets Metallurgy Arts apart from Finecraft Arts is that it is a physically intensive activity, blowing the bellows and hammering the metal into shape. Metallurgy is rougher and dirtier than Finecraft, and often leaves the smith covered in soot.
Finecraft Arts are very similar to Metallurgy, but cover the finer metal shaping and crafts related to softer and more fragile materials. This includes but is not limited to gold and silver work, appraising rare materials, gem and stone cutting, fine material extraction, jewel craft, Qadir brass working and Qadir Clockwork Engineering. Clockwork Engineering has its own page with specific rules on how to craft Clockwork devices, please refer to that page for the limitations and required proficiency for the various devices. Finecrafts Arts are different from Metallurgy Arts in that they often require the crafter to look through a lens and hammer bit by bit at small objects. Proficiency points put into this Proficiency lead to higher quality items produced.
