Animals: Difference between revisions

Aloria is rich in both fauna and flora. This page specifically is dedicated to all recorded, extinct or still living, animals that roam the world of Aloria. All animals are split into their relevant categories. Keep in mind that this list is not final and will be added to when necessary. As a player you may claim one of the animals and try to write a Player Lore Prompt, though remind yourself to consult Lore staff about any relevant descriptions! Anyone is permitted to Roleplay a domesticated feline, canine, or songbird where applicable. For any other wild animal, please consult Lore staff as some animals are too wild and hostile to survive in an urban city like Regalia.

Ogre	Ogres are the chaotic gray beasts found in the north of Aloria, found throughout areas of southern Ellador and its surrounding islands, as well as some parts of New Ceardia. Large and dangerous, these creatures form small clans and tribes called “Truggs”, lead by a single Chieftain, both to ward off hunters and provide more resilience against the rival clans that might challenge them. These creatures first appeared around 50 AC, and despite the popularity of hunting them, continue to thrive in solitude or small numbers throughout Aloria.

Troll	The Troll, a smaller and more reclusive cousin of the Ogre, is a monstrous beast to be found in southern Ellador and some of its neighboring states. Known to live solitary lives on their own, attempts to study Trollkind have been all but unsuccessful for the researchers, given the ferocity and violent nature of Trolls. Due to their murderous habits, the only relevance Trolls have to the sentient races of Aloria today is as prey in dangerous hunts.

Orantrang	Unique among the alien fauna of Solangeria's lush rainforests, the Orantrang is a rather peculiar ape, with unique adaptations to help it survive in its harsh environment. The Orantrang was first observed shortly after the first contact with the Solang much further in the past than Elven records count back. The Orantrang are extremely docile, in stark contrast to the unforgiving landscape. The adaptation that keeps such a friendly creature alive, however, are scent glands that emit chemicals into the air that essentially pacify all nearby living things, resulting in predators simply ignoring the apes as they swing from tree to tree. In fact, hostile feelings seem to be repelled from the area entirely, which prevents others from even thinking about attacking anything. This gives them a particular use among Solang settlements, as simply having them around essentially nullifies all of the wildlife that constantly tries to kill them. The apes are revered among the Solang as spiritual beings, and the two species peacefully coexist with one another. Internationally however, Orantrangs are generally sought out to be kept in prisons in order to keep the inmates passive.

Tree Basterion	Within the jungles of Hadaria, many explorers who stumble across the wrong cluster of trees are soon bombarded with hard fruits and screeches, a typical greeting from the Tree Basterion. These odd primates are exotic to say the least, with large hands, odd green fur, and an interesting hoarding instinct. The oldest records of the Tree Basterion date back to around 2900 BC, and come from the Elven Empire; while the oldest non-Elven records are from 295 AC. As its name implies, the Tree Basterion has a great affinity for climbing in the jungle and often only comes to the ground to collect rocks and fallen fruits. While reclusive in its present state, the Tree Basterion continues to showcase Hadar’s exotic fauna as well as its scarred past.

Capuchini	The small and intuitive Capuchini monkey, native to Montania, is something of a bane to local merchants. Their dexterous hands and curious disposition contribute to a seemingly kleptomaniacal nature; fruits, trinkets and assorted rubbish all fall prey to their inherent greed. An annoyance and inconvenience to the native population, the Capuchini monkey is loved by children and sailors but scorned by vendors and commercial travellers.

Frosthorn	The Frosthorn, or more commonly known by the Northerne people as the Khyzhak, is undoubtedly the apex predator of Jorrhildr’s frozen wastes and Ellador’s icefields. Enormous, ferocious, and a relentless hunter, these great white monsters prowl through the snow and ice in search of prey to butcher; whether it be Url, Thylan, or Ailor. Known for its grotesque size and strength, Frosthorns dominate the frosty landscape and are a menace to any unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

Squirrel	The Squirrel is unique in Aloria as it is perhaps the most widely spread animal aside from birds to exist in the world. The Squirrel is common in the pine forests of the North Belt, the boreal forests of the Regalian Archipelago, and some have even made their way to the jungles of Daen. Easy to domesticate but also easily returned to the wild, the animal is most often a children’s pet or a trick animal of traveling entertainers. Their numbers took a hit recently due to the Bone Horror Crisis but are expected to bounce quickly.

A’evol	The A’evol is a small rodent native to Evokai and in particular, makes its home in the legendary Thoor Trees as well as normal trees that grow there. Their history is a long, if not uninteresting one.; As long as the Lampar and Rashaq can remember, this mammal has lived among the trees, helping to keep the plants clear of wood-eating insects. To the Lampar, the A’evol is viewed as a symbolic representation of their role in the world, protecting nature, making their home in harmony with this nature and with a similar love of climbing to the Lampar. Despite the recent Regalian presence on the island chain, these creatures have been only minimally disturbed, and it seems likely this will continue for many years.

Vile Rat	The Vile Rat is a large and aggressive rodent endemic to the sewers and poor districts of Regalia. Standing between 5 and 9 inches at full maturity and boasting two vicious underbite tusks, this disease-ridden cousin of the Regalian Sewer Rat has been known to strike fear into the hearts of even the most accustomed sewer-dwellers.

Common Rat	One of the most resilient species in all of Aloria, the Common Rat is prevalent everywhere from the frigid forests of Ellador, to the sweltering jungles of Hyarroc. The Common Rat is seen to some as a pest, though it is likely one of the most important creatures in all of Aloria. They live alongside people of any and all cultures and have proven time and time again to be resilient. Also one of the most diverse and intelligence species of mammals, they are used by every aspect of science and Magic to solve complex problems and act as test subjects.

Regalian Sewer Rat	The Regalian Sewer Rat is not nearly as widespread as its other vermin counterparts, because of its habitat -- The Regalian Sewers. Distinguishable from its relatives by the patchy, black fur and constant smell, the Regalian Sewer Rat has proven to be one of the dominant species in the sewers. Because they are much more intelligent than their cousins, they are very difficult to domesticate. Despite the attempts to quell the population, the Rats responded each time by increasing their numbers and have even been seen working together in large packs to chase off exterminators.

Field Mouse	The Field Mouse is the largest known mouse to be found in Aloria, and has a unique feature to it that stuns both farmers and travellers alike; it’s large size. From its discovery to present day it has baffled researchers as to how it has survived and continues to do so. The population of this animal continues to grow exponentially, and has started to intrude on the various Ailor farms that are encroaching on this mouse’s habitat. Attempts to rid this animal from its habitat around Ailor settlements have been unsuccessful and continue to be even to this day.

House Mouse	The most common mouse in Aloria is the House Mouse. It inhabits the cities and houses in nearly every single continent in Aloria. There is no known origin for these versatile creatures but their ability to adapt to the environment and reproduce in the scarcest of conditions has caused them to be the subject of much fascination in the scientific community. The effects of diseases and medicines has often been tested on these animals before being used on Ailor. It is for this fact that this animal has not been outright eradicated by the various sentient species that it lives beside.

Desert Mouse	There is a saying Farah’deen, “It is not the things you see that will kill you.” This saying comes from the desert mouse, which may be one of the deadliest creatures in the desert, despite not being venomous nor aggressive. It is synonymous with the sands of Farah’deen, a bane to nomads and city-dwellers alike, preying on any food source it can come across. It lives within the various cities that sprawl across Farah’deen as well as the vast deserts that stretch over the continent. Many nomads fear this rodent, as it will eat through their supplies like little else, causing them to die within the unforgiving wastes. Its infamy comes from an incident that is often spoken in many taverns across Farah’deen, in which a colony of these mice overtook over the food stores of an entire town, and pushed them into starvation.

Longtail Mouse	In the wilds of Aloria resides the Longtail Mouse, seldom seen by anyone. The mouse’s breeding habits have caused its population to slowly thin out and its rarity has only increased since its discovery. The Longtail Mouse was discovered on accident and has remained well hidden from the outside world. This animal has a unique set of defense mechanisms that have baffled researchers that have tried to study them. From its venomous, snake-like bite, to its long tail that acts like a whip, these fist-sized creatures pack a bigger punch than most animals double their size. Recent attempts to tame these animals have fallen short but their venom’s price on the black market has soared due to its usefulness and rarity.

Candle Mouse	A Candle Mouse is an odd little rodent with a fiery tail, found throughout Aloria in the wilds and as an endearing little pet in many households. Candle Mice are very good pets to have, as they provide heat and light for the home, and are easy to take care of.

Norlda	Norldas are dangerous tunneling mammals similar to moles with a notably high intelligence. Mutated during the Fifth Void Invasion, they are now one of the many deadly creatures hunted by the Drowdar in their fight against the Void on Drowda. Highly resistant to toxins yet poor at digesting, Norldas act as pests for the Drowdar while their body parts are eagerly sought after by alchemists.

Northern Wolf	Description Pending...

Dire Wolf	Direwolves are among the largest animals in the Northern regions, standing proud and hungry at the top of numerous food-chains. Aggressive and clever, these solitary hunters are nearly apex predators. If not for said solitary nature, they would likely overrun larger settlements and cities given their indomitable size and ferocity. Few first hand encounters are survived, leaving many to speculate about what exactly these massive wolves are truly capable of.

Drowdan Dire Wolf	The Drowdan Dire Wolf has become the subject of many Drowdar bogeyman-like tales, using the wolf’s fierceness to quell young children's curiosity of venturing outside their citadels. Vicious and hyper-aggressive, this beast is a constant threat to the dark-skinned elves that patrol their Void-infested lands and a prime example of how planar essence can change apex predators into something even worse. The beast was an unwanted discovery, found by an elf who’d only just escaped its clutches. These wolves are known for their fierce bite and their infamous overcoats that act almost like a natural armor. To this day, the Drowdar still hunt these creature in an everlasting struggle against the mutant canine ferocity, though more often than not, the Drowdan Dire Wolf is actually hunting them.

Ceardian Silver Wolf	Terror of many, symbol of some, the Ceardian Silver Wolf is a group predator, originating in Old Ceardia and has since then migrated to the harsher regions of the Regalian Archipelago and Essalonia. The Silver Wolf has been incorporated in much imagery and folklore as a symbol of fear and strength for the Old Ceardian people, as well as serving as a raging example of the saying “strength in numbers”. While a wolf on its own is not a particularly fierce creature, it's organized pack mentality and hunting strategies is what makes it a terrifying sight to behold, and if a pack of Silver Wolves descend on your sheep herds, you can do naught but watch.

Red Fur Fox	The Red Fur Fox of Dragenthal is a common sight for anyone on the western side of the Regalian Archipelago, including Anglia and Vixhall. A long loved sigil of the Dragenthaler people, the red fox has and will continue to be a symbol that represents the Heartland. As a savvy and beloved animal, it continues to thrive in captivity as it has been recently domesticated and is now a frequently hunted animal in Dragenthal Due to their rather recent integration into Ailor societies, only the wealthy or extremely patient are able to truly domesticate a fox into forming a bond. Many foxes either outright reject the owner’s attempts to bond with it, or despise them so much that they attack them. The reason for their investigative domestication is due to this trait, where they almost exhibit some form of judgement or sentient thought, though no progress has been made nor are there any set guidelines for what a Red Fur Fox prefers.

White Calemberger Fox	The White Calemberger Fox is seen by many as the defining image of the Calemberg region of the Regalian Archipelago. The canine has roamed the snowy terrain for nearly four hundred years, and has been noted by the local Ailor for its unique ability to disguise its fur color by rolling in the earth and snow. The animal has the patronage and protection of the ruling family in Calemberg, who are one of the largest suppliers of the fox’s soft white fur to the wealthy and affluent across Aloria.

Snowpaw Felicis	The Snowpaw Felicis is a canine creature that originates from the snowy plains of Ithania. It bears a close resemblance to the many wolves of Aloria, though it is drastically different in its behavioural patterns. The Felicis plays a part in the Ithanian way of life and culture, especially through interaction with the highborns of the realm who prize the creature for various reasons; not limited to merely its fur, but also for its loyal behaviour and mating patterns. Richer families also have been known to involve the Felicis heavily with any hunting sport they may partake in, although the animal is less than ideal for this. The canine is especially close to the Valeur population of the Ithanian culture, and it is hardly uncommon to see an Ithanian family crest decorated with the animal.

Ceardian Bloodhound	Among the breeds of dogs in Aloria, none is as iconic to war as the Ceardian Bloodhound. It’s mysterious origins are often forgotten as it has become a staple of protection and war all throughout Regalia. It’s loyalty and intelligence has caused it to become one of the most sought after dogs in Aloria. The large dog is the size of a bear cub and just as powerful as one, striking fear into the hearts of all that face it. Despite it’s apparent ferocity it is also a sociable animal, making it popular among noble families and warriors alike.

Calemberger Beagle	The Calemberger Beagle is a relatively small hounddog, made notorious across Aloria for its proficiency in detecting and killing simple game in large amounts. They were bred initially as companion pets, but over time, as the best hunting hounds reproduced more, they developed an outstanding sense of smell. Often raised and released by owners in packs, they will sniff out: hares, squirrels, and on occasion, foxes, and then proceed to take the animal down, bringing the carcass back in one piece for their master. Since being specifically reared to hunt since their initial discovery, they have even been used for entertainment by the rich who have competitions on whose group acquires the most prey.

Calemberger Dachsl	Throughout the vast amounts of canines that find their ways in Aloria, the Calemberger Dachsl is a rather unique one, for its small size, though this never discourages it from being a famous enemy of small prey. Despite its humble size, the Dachsl holds a rather brave and feisty temperament, rarely being frightened away by bigger beasts. The Dachsl is around the size of an average Ailor infant, and weighs only a little more. The Calemberger Dachsl is a famous hunting dog, used mostly for rabbit hole hunting and it can be proudly said that the canine excels in this skill.

Anglian Shepherd	The Anglian Shepard is an animal that holds a rare mark of note in the annals of Alorian history. Along with the Common Farm Chicken and a handful of other animals, it is said to be one of the first animals the Ailor themselves tamed. It is notable for its loyalty and intellect, serving both public and agricultural interests well over the years as an attack hound and herd dog. Today, the dog is mostly kept as a pet within the cities while rural Anglian farmers still put the animal to use as they have for the past 300 years and more.

Anglian Laster	The Anglian Laster is one of the several sheepdogs bred by the Anglian people of the Regalian Archipelago. This animal has a long history, being one of the last species of wild dog the Anglians domesticated. The Anglian Laster is highly protective, as only after all the sheep and other animals have been securely locked up will this dog settle down. The Laster is popular among homes across Dorinn and Anglia, with a few reaching the urban centers of other areas.

Anglian Caelorulv	The Anglian Caelorulv is an old breed that has both high prestige and a long history of being a common pet among the nobility and shepherds of the Anglian plains. The Caelorulv was originally one of the many shepherd breeds at the start of the Regalian Empire, though quickly gained popularity as the Western Plains became inhabited by the Anglian people. Interbreeding with other species eventually split the domesticated dog breed into the “Royal” and “Common” Caelorulv, each having their own unique characteristics and popularities.

Ithanian Sucre Cien	The Ithanian Sucre Cien is an Ithanian breed of dog, produced by selective breeding and auctioned off around urbanized areas. Its rapid growth in numbers and unique appearance has earned the dog the name “Sucre Cien”, which directly translates to “Sugar Dog” in common. This is accounted for the fact that a laying Sucre Cien resembles a pile of sugar, due to their flourishing, long, snow-white hair and small figure. The dogs are most commonly carried, as when they walk their hair picks up dirt and other things that require it to be cleaned out. With love and compassion, this dog is a mixed bag; loyal to its owner, but needy. It is antisocial to others when not properly introduced to the world. This, and its ear-piercingly renowned high-pitched bark that classifies as more of a ‘yapping,’ earns the Ithanian Sucre Cien more than its fair share of infamy. Even then, any of high wealth or prestige seeking to pamper a loving and fluffy, tiny companion, often get directed to this breed, and end up happy with it.

Tsarr Cat	The Tsarr Cat is a rare species of feline found only on Etosil, and specifically most often in the homes of Vladno citizens. Formerly existing as a naturally occurring feline on Etosil, rigorous domestication and breeding led to them becoming a close reflection of the Vladno culture. The Tsarr Cat is one of the largest domesticated cats in Aloria, and retains many of the traits of its wild ancestor. Today, the Tsarr Cat is a trademark to the home of every Vladno family and serves them loyally as a living cultural reminder.

Daendroque Jungle Cat	These large prowling cats—native only to the Jungles of Daendroc—are responsible for a large number of deaths of Altalar and Daendroc wildlife. They are the bane of travelers, as their immense size and climbing prowess makes them a hazard to even the most wary of Altalar. A nuisance to the Nelfin, the Great Jungle Cat has been known to fearlessly bound into Elven settlements in the dark of the night, looking for whatever food they can find, be it animal or Elf. Many fear or loathe these prowling beasts.

Black Pathor	The Black Panthor is an animal native to Daendroc and it is well known for its cool attitude. It was often confused with the Great Jungle Cat before the rise of the Elven Empire, which saw the feline as the idealized version of a Varran slave: silent, and obedient. Following the Cataclysm, the distinctions between the Black Panthor and its larger cousin were lost for a time, before eventually being distinguished as separate species once more. The two animals share many similar features; however, the Black Panthor lacks the prominent oversized canine teeth that perpetually force open a Great Jungle Cat’s mouth. Today, the animal remains a symbol of the aloof jungle hunter, and is unlikely to once again be confused for its wilder and fiercer relative.

White Sibraxas	The White Sibraxas is one of many hazards in the hostile regions of Ellador and Jorrhildr. It is a nuisance to both travelers brave enough to traverse the snowy landscape, and to those who live there. Originating in Jorrhildr, they later traveled north and adapted to the ever-growing harsh terrain. These large, sabre-toothed felines are said to be descendants of an ancient species that ruled the land before the rise of the Elven Empire. The White Sibraxas are extremely difficult to see due to their clear white coat that allows them blend in with their natural surroundings. Known by their knack for traversing the harsh environment with amazing speed and stealth, this sabre-toothed feline is by far one of the most efficient hunters of the northern land masses.

Ithanian Bearded Desert Cat	The Ithanian Bearded Desert Cat is a feline that has weaseled itself into the households of countless Alorians. Its small size, friendly attitude, and distinctive beard-like tuft have earned it a reputation as one of the best pets in the world. Their appeal was quickly exploited upon their first discovery due to its popularity, and the feline remained an animal exclusive to Ithania for only a few months before being shipped overseas. The former hunting instincts of the Bearded Cat have since left them, instead they have been replaced by a disposition to lay about and wait for someone to feed them. With the popularity it holds nowadays, one would be hard-pressed to have not seen at least one of these animals in the any village they come across.

Domestic Tabby	For centuries, cats have been the apex titleholder of domesticated pet animals, flourishing in the Elven Empire as the choice household companion, and subsequently the Regalian Empire. The domesticated Tabby Cat is an affectionate animal, known for its ease of living harmoniously and forming co-dependency wherever they may be found as useful vermin hunters. In modern times, they continue to be doted upon and cherished by many denizens of Aloria.

Long Fluff Ithanian	The Long Fluff Ithanian is a large, long-haired domesticated cat native to Ithania; known and prized for its heavy coat of fur. They are found very commonly in more wealthy homes in Ithania, but have recently begun becoming more commonplace in Regalia, mostly among Ithanian families and those who have travelled to Ithania and purchased a cat as a souvenir of sorts. These cats are quite expensive, require high maintenance, and are hard to find outside of Ithania, meaning they can only be sighted in Regalia in the homes of the wealthy—be it Ithanians or Nobility.

Imperial Seal	The Imperial Seal, colloquially known as the Great Seal, is renowned for its immense size and illustrious black coat of fur. It resides in the Drixagh region primarily within and along the body of water directly between the Czabri Bone Shores and the Throatcaps and Walds. There was once a time where this animal was ample in number, yet throughout the years, Kalmarran raiders have taken it upon themselves to hunt the Imperial Seal for its valuable blubber. They do so without regard for overexploitation, which has caused its subsequent near-extinction.

Elasmo	Elasmo, known as Aloria’s furry, horned horses, exist in various regions of Fendarfelle, Daendroc and New Ceardia. In the wild, these beasts are known for being very territorial, and will violently attack and gore anyone who steps too close to their home. Their large girth and long horns make up for their stubby legs, and they’re coated in a thick layer of cream, white, or black fur. They are certainly not as endearing as they may appear, and should be treated with caution when found in the wilderness.

Pure Black Calemberger	The Pure Black Calemberger is a loyal mount and a symbol of military superiority. This breed of horse is exclusively bred in Calemberg and Hinter Calem, and are highly revered war beasts. Taller than a man when on all fours, and built for power and stamina in the field, these steeds tend to be found in the possession of key military figures or the cavalry of wealthier high nobility across the Regalian Archipelago. They have also been the turning point in many past battles, giving the cavalry a decisive edge with their longevity and speed.

Painted Lancierron	One of the fastest stallions in Ithania, the Painted Lancierron is a horse known for its skinny physique and chestnut brown spotted fur. This stallion has made a great impact to jousting and the world of racing, the skinny horse making up for it’s lack of power with speed. People believe the Lancierron has great importance - mostly because there is currently no other breed of horse that can compete with the steed. In the present day, the Painted Lancierron is being domesticated and has started showing up in a manner of events; some even being chosen as a Viridian Knight’s preferred species of horse.

Drowda Vas Pirion	The Drowda Vas Pirion is an incredibly large and dangerous bat native to Drowda, specifically originating from the region closest to Estel's Grave. They feed off of the blood of their prey, and their appearance will shift based on their primary food source. This bat also carries a highly toxic venom, which is injected through its needle-like teeth. The creature's only apparent weakness is its need to sleep for around six hours a day, as it is very difficult to wake a sleeping Vas Pirion during this sleeping cycle.

Jungle Veneerion	The Jungle Veneerion is a large, herbivorous bat native to the jungles of Daendroc, known for its sharp fangs, thick black fur, and large wings. Its demonic appearance has served as a cause for fear among locals, closely linking it as something of superstition. In reality, the creature’s most menacing features, its fangs, serve to puncture the cacao pods which constitute the majority of its diet. Once commonplace in Daendroc, it has since been killed on sight resulting in a dwindling of its numbers. The Veneerion is rarely seen outside of the jungle, only venturing out to civilized areas when the food supply falls too low in their natural habitat to sustain them.

Three Tusk Tuverophant	The Three Tusk Tuverophant hails from the warmer climates on the border of Sendras. Covered in a shaggy coat of reddish-brown hair that hides their thick skin, these mammals boast an impressive stature. They were once a labor animal for the Allar, but the Sendrassian Civil War saw to the decline of their use. Now, many thousands live free in the jungles while some others are domesticated, and a few rare specimen exist in the odd corners of Aloria with other exotic beasts.

Gargantuan Stoneback Phant	Having been named for their immense size and partial rocky coating, the Gargantuan Stoneback Phant is both a remarkable and feared titan of a creature from the deserts of Farah'deen. It is common for Stonebacks to be mistaken for dunes or rocky hills while resting. When mobile, however, their thundering footsteps and immense size make them stand out like a sore thumb among the landscape. Stonebacks have had minimal impact on the world, other than having been a thorn in the sides of Qadir and Songaskia settlements for as long as the dragons that once soared the skies were. However, in stark contrast to the dragons, the Stoneback Phant remains a menace to this day, and is responsible for the demolition of cities and more lives than one can count.

Wódbehaeri	An essential, though terrifying, piece of Wolathar culture, the Wódbehaeri are a species of hornless Elephau. Their impressive size and strength make them fantastic hosts for the homes of the Wolathar. Mostly docile creatures that are only prompted to action by those reliant on their size, the Wódbehaeri are generally left alone by other sentient races, and even some predators that could match their size. They are common in the dense jungles between Hyarroc and Daendroc, and spend most of their days eating and resting.

Thylan	Similar to the Ogres of Ellador in that they are a near-sentient mammalian species the Thylan have been a non-dominating feature of Jorrhildr since pre-Cataclysm timest. As tall as a Dwarf and easily outnumbering the Url and Velheim Ailor that live alongside them, Thylan are nevertheless badly adapted for the various demanding climates of Jorrhildr. Due to their failure to adapt properly, the Thylan are currently considered a common, though manageable threat or, in some particularly well-fortified areas, a pest. In recent years, however, Jorrhildr’s numerous Seraph ruins have garnered ever more scrutiny from the outside world, though reaching them requires a long and dangerous trek through Thylan-infested lands.

Anglian Black Cow	Hoofed and ready to trample, the Anglian Black Cow is a species so infamous for its nasty attitude, that many argue it shouldn’t have beent brought back from the verge of extinction. The Anglian Black Cow is a creature indigenous to the Regalian Archipelago, and has been used as a supply track of dairy products for generations. These beasts were considered to be meagre, pointless grazing animals until a farmer discovered that their females produced a syrupy milk unlike any other, bringing the species to be domesticated as cattle. Many found the male offspring of the Anglian Black Cow to be too menacing and imposing, and were often neglected by farmers or released into the wild to start grazing packs of their own. To this day, the main use of the Anglian Black Cow has shifted from the mass production of its milk to the entertainment value offered in rodeos, stemming from their ferocious behavior.

Lesser Wooly Narggoth	Shuffling through the dense forests that line the western coast of Daendroc, the Lesser Wooly Narggoth lives among the undergrowth of the towering jungle. Having been originally discovered by nelfin hunters from the Early Elven Empire, the Lesser Wooly Narggoth is a smaller subspecies of Narggoth that survives off eating the roots of various jungle plants. Kept by some Orcs as guard pets, Lesser Wooly Narggoth are an aggressive little ball of fur capable of goring larger opponents with their horns. Today, they are common among both Orcs and Cielothar as a commodity, used both domestically as pets as well as a food source and are often raised by both races to produce milk and other products.

Greater Wooly Narggoth	Shaking the earth with each terrible step, the Greater Wooly Narggoth is the heaviest mammal that roams the fields of Daendroc. Standing at an impressive ten feet tall and weighing more than a metric ton, these beasts of burden are trained by the Orcs of the region to serve both in the various holds of different harrkh and on the battlefield as a terrifying mount. Its appearance is similar to that of a large bison, though with much greater density of muscle mass, three pairs of horns, and a third eye on the top of the head. Records show that the species has lived in the region that now makes up the Orcish homeland for millennia, with scholars and hunters of the Early Elven Empire keeping records of when to avoid the area to prevent being trampled by the beasts during mating season. As the Orcs entered into the region, they found the beasts pleasantly aggressive and began attempting to domesticate them. After a few decades, and several dozen deaths, the beasts were finally tamed. Today, the shaggy bison is a beast of burden for the green skinned Orcs, and can occasionally be seen being ridden into battle by raiding parties.

Gallovian Geep	The Gallovian Geep is a creature covered in dark colored wool that has adapted to the rocky terrain of Gallovia. The Geep has unknown origins, with some assuming the Elves brought it to the region from elsewhere in Aloria while others feel they are native to the mountains that cover the island in which they inhabit. Regardless of their origins, the Gallovian Geep has provided milk, wool, and meat for the native Gallovians for over two centuries. In recent years, their numbers near the main cities have been reduced as the Gallovians pull them back to the mountains to prevent them from being bred into average sheep and goat stocks.

Elladorian Mountain Trodder	The Elladorian Mountain Trodder is a sturdy goat that originated in Ellador. They nearly went extinct when Ellador was transformed into the colder continent it is today, but Isldar and Dwarves helped to keep them safe as they adapted to the frostier climate. Nearly a century later, Velheim Ailor domesticated and helped spread the Trodder across The North Belt and into northern regions of the Regalian Archipelago. They are well known for their thick coats and nutritious milk, with Northern families sometimes forced to make the difficult choice in harsh winters of whether to kill their animal for its warm coat or keep it alive for its milk.

Northern Moose	The Northern Moose is a massive mammal that openly roams the landscape of Jorrhildr. Standing taller than the average Ailor, the Northern Moose is truly a majestic sight to behold, given it’s popularity among the locals. Due to the animal’s resistant nature, it has come to be widely accepted as the symbol of Jorrhildr and its denizens, acting as a testament to their much bolstered hardiness.

Antelluion	Elegant, yet somewhat unintelligent, the Antelluion are similar to the common deer in all but a few aspects of their appearance. They are much larger than a typical deer and possess a single curved horn that is frequently prized for its strength and beauty. For years, they have lived in the Archipelago and in the grasslands of Ithania, mainly existing as something pretty for hikers to spot. While they are sometimes hunted for their horns and kept as menagerie creatures, there are not many other uses for the animal besides aesthetics. Today, Antelluion thrive as simple beasts, roaming and surviving as they have throughout generations.

Qilin	While it is not completely unheard of to stumble across a Qilin in the wilds of the Yang Tzu, it is always a stunning sight. Lithe in their build and seemingly otherworldly thanks to their shimmering fur, these animals are hailed as some of the most beautiful in all of Aloria for good reason. These skittish deer are a rare find, but their pelts and horns make them a value to both the Island's inhabitants, and hunters from abroad.

Anglian Weasel	The Anglian Weasel is a small mammal native to Anglia and Dorinn in the Regalian Archipelago. An animal known to have lived in the Archipelago for some time, it has thrived in the plains of Anglia since the Ailor first arrived and has been a pest to farmers for years. A predatory animal, the Weasel commonly hunts mice and small birds, but the reason they are annoying to farmers is their other hunting target, the Common Farm Chicken. They are most noted for their seasonal changes in fur color which some say vary the most of any animal. This changing coat color, in turn, has also resulted in shady business practices where some buy furs supposedly of the highest quality only to have them be that of the Anglian Weasel, a common animal. Despite the fur industry in Anglia and Dorinn, as well as angry farmers, none have been able to halt the large population of this mustelid.

Calemberger White Ferret	While the Calemberger White Ferret’s pelt is well known by the many denizens of the lordship, not many know of their origins. Despite the native region being known for its furs and rustic clothing style, the Calemberger White Ferret isn’t an animal the regular citizen is likely to see on the isle. In reality, the ferret is kept in captivity and harvested for its furs; leaving it unable to roam the wilds properly with a population of next to zero outside of captivity, save for small pockets that escape to the wild accidentally. Calemberger White Ferrets are specially bred for their pure and much sought after white fur, and any ferret exhibiting a dull grey or any other colour fur are either slaughtered without a chance to affect the precious breeding genepool. Despite being kept in captivity, the ferrets are nowhere close to domesticated, and aren’t suitable for a home setting. Since their captivity, the animals have become increasingly feisty, resulting in the reputation of being infamously hard to breed.

Ithanian Minque	The Ithanian Minque is a common mustelid sharing resemblance to a ferret that can often be found rushing about the waterways and riversides of Ithania. As the ever elusive and pursued furred devil of the fresh riverbanks, Minques are held in fond memory by most who share their continent. A very common sight by lakesides, a dear friend to some and good money waiting to be made to others, the Ithanian Minque is well-known on its home continent, and for good reason.

Daendroc Weasel	The Daendroc Weasel is a pesky rodent which infamously dwells in the harbors of Daendroc. The weasel is often seen on most seafaring vessels, being loved by the sailors. It is hated as much as it is loved, however, largely due to their frequent theft of food. This weasel is often at odds with the Ghor Ka Bloodscale; when these two creatures meet, it more often than not leads to a violent fight to the death. Daendroc Weasels today are seen in almost any harbor, always near their owner.

Northern Brown Bear	The Northern Brown Bear is a large mammal that inhabits the entire northern region of the Regalian Archipelago. These bears are highly respected by the members of the School of Skagger, as well as the Velheim tribes as a whole. Much of Velheim culture is derived because of their proximity and respect for the Northern Brown Bear, which is considered one of the mightiest animals in the northern wilderness. It features a wide range of pelt colors and so the Northern Brown Bear is sometimes referred to as the Grizzled Bear for these unique fur patterns, however as the name dictates, these patterns and colors always keep a brownish tint to them. The Northern Brown bear was originally thought to be a wide variety of species but was eventually reclassified into the single species that exists today. While bears have a popular spot in folklore as a whole, no other bear is as represented as the Northern Brown Bear.

Ridgeback Boar	The Ridgeback Boar is a complex creature, existing as a form of wildlife across the entire stretch of the Regalian Archipelago since before the Cataclysm. As a result of this event and the rise of the Regalian Empire, the animal receded into the many thick forests of the island group. They are most noted for their prominent mohawk of hair, running from their head down their back which gives them their name. Some even feel the Ridgeback Boar is the creature that inspired the fashion of shaving the sides of one's head topped by an uncut mohawk. Many simply know the animal as a proud creature of the hunt and a challenge to any competent huntsman looking for a good story to tell.

Bathogg	Bathoggs are commonly known for their uncanny resemblance to their close relatives: pigs. However, they tower over their pink-skinned brothers. These creatures are great in size, hitting four feet in height, several feet thick, and a staggering five hundred pounds when they reach their adult age. The Bathoggs have powerful tusks with a cone-like shape, used in fights and during the mating process. While these creatures surely are a sight to behold, they’re docile creatures, occasionally kept in captivity and bred by farmers.

Pygmee Arloran Pig	The Pygmee Arloran Pig is a diminutive swine once bred exclusively in the Kingdom of Arlora. No one is quite sure how the animal came to live in the region, but in recent years it has been undergoing extensive studies by biologists attempting to determine why this species of swine was so much smaller than other pigs. The pig's other notable trait, aside from its diminutive size, is a set of fleshy wattles on the side and underside of their neck. Due to the recent Bone Horror Crisis, the animal's population has continued to drop, and it may go extinct someday soon if the Bone Horrors have their way.

Air Pocket Whale	Bursting from the long, slow waves of the Western Calms is the Air Pocket Whale, a playful, aquatic mammal that calls the warmer waters around Ithania home. The species’ peculiar name comes from the unique characteristic of the animal, which are two large air sacs that dominate the back of the creature. These air sacs act as special ballasts, granting them superior control of the animal’s depth in the water. Original citings of the Air Pocket Whale come from the early years after the Cataclysm, roughly 40 AC. Early records demonstrate the incredibly friendly nature of the species, which often jump and play along with boats that sail in the region. To this day, tourists who travel to the Western Calms often take special day trips out to popular gathering places for Air Pocket Whales, so that they may witness the spectacle of the graceful creatures as they bob and dive among the surf. There are several small coastal towns in Ithania that survive solely off of such tours, as well as selling the surprisingly delicious flesh of the animals.

Rockback Whale	The Rockback Whale is a unique species of whale endemic to the coasts of Sendrass and the eastern coast of Farah’deen. The creature was only known in Elven myths, as tales told of islands growing on the back of huge fish before they vanished into the waves once more. It was only after the Cataclysm that these myths were proven right, if not somewhat exaggerated, when Allar vessels first ventured out beyond their shores to seek a refuge from the Mu-Allar. Known to the wider world ever since, these creatures have inspired beauty and mystery as they possess a unique skin on their backs that help clams, barnacles and sea moss to grow. With the Bone Horror Crisis unleashing a horde of undead bone sea monsters out from Hadaria into southern waters, the Rockback Whale’s future is uncertain.

Maerrow	The Maerrow are small, Maiar-like fish that hail from New Ceardia. These largely carnivorous fish are known to steal the bounty of fishermen on the ocean and in rivers for themselves. Some braver Maerrow began following the fishnets to their source; the fishermen who used them. Due to repeated poaching of the Maerrow, the little fish-people are very few in number, and prefer to remain more covert as opposed to hunting humans.

Aetherwhale	In an age long past, amongst the lofty heights of Ellador, the majestic Aetherwhales once played. Beasts of incredible size that drifted on the breeze as if they were as light as a feather, the Aetherwhales were a rare sight among the clouds, drifting in and out of cloud banks as they ate entire clouds of birds at a time. The Aetherwhale is a gargantuan mammal the size of an inn that resembles a fish, with three pairs of fins along their stomach that they use to navigate the sky and a great tailfin to propel them forward. Aetherwhales also are known for their sad ‘whale song’, a melancholic tune that they use to communicate that once was heard echoing from the lofty heights they built their pods around. Their most remarkable characteristic, however, is their ability to float, which comes from unique organs inside the Aetherwhale which house thousands upon thousands of microscopic bacteria that convert normal air into special lighter-than-air gases. These organs are able to be vented through the skin of the Aetherwhale, granting it the ability to rise and descend through the air with moderate ease. Once a common sight over the mountains of Ellador, the Aetherwhales have become increasingly more rare to stumble upon in the past century. This has baffled ecologists who have found no reason for the sudden disappearance; with the only real theories involve a dwindling food supply and migration to other places beyond the sea. Despite this, the floating creatures have certainly left their mark on the world, as the early designs for airships were said to be inspired by seeing Aetherwhales lofting among the frosty peaks of their home.

Regalian Spriggan	Regalian Spriggans are a herbivorous bird native to the Crown Isle of Regalia. At first glance they can be described as almost fairy-like due to their incessant need to coat their bodies in moss, foliage, and green matter, using a barbed beak to assist with this. They are a common bird in Regalia, but also very difficult to spot due to their camouflaging habits.

Dragged Crow	The Dragged Crow is an easily distinguished bird despite its similarities to the common crow. Larger and more formidable than its cousin, these creatures are capable of forming hostile murders in the wild, they are known for their shrill shrieking cry. Making for excellent messengers in captivity, they currently serve as a valuable means of communication across the Ithanian Sovereignty and the Regalian Empire at large.

Black Feather	The Black Feather is an undersized songbird that originates from the Regalian Archipelago, and can now be found throughout Corontium. Known for their unique ability to replicate speech, these birds are difficult to spot but are easily heard throughout Regalia. In recent years, they’ve been domesticated and kept as household pets by Ailor children.

Red Breaster	The Red Breaster is known across the farming world for many things. Its greatest claim to fame is its close relation to the now extinct junglefowl that helped create it and its close cousin, the Common Farm Chicken. It is also noted for its shrill, powerful cry that marks the rising of the sun each day, said to be the most powerful of any bird. They are also known for their fiery-colored plumage, the Red Breaster is a staple of many farms in Anglia and beyond.

Beyljon Duck	The Beyljon duck is a creature that can only loosely be described as a songbird, A staple in the Yang-tzu Isles. The Beyljon Duck is an elegant and plump creature that walks with pride and is widely appreciated by the Ch’ien-ji people. Considered the Dwarf of the waterfowl, the Beyljon duck is a friendly animal who is glad to live among the Chi people who keep them from more violent predators. Unsurprisingly due to their naturally plump nature they are also considered a delicacy, and if smoked properly their meat is pleasantly sweet.

Hinterlandic Raven	The Hinterlandic Raven is a very peculiar bird that displays extremely odd habits. The raven is generally seen as a very mischievous, intelligent bird, that is acutely aware of its own surroundings and the people that live near its nest. Strangely enough, this bird is also poetically suicidal and even downright self destructive, for reasons unknown as of yet. This bird has become a reviewed curiosity for animal scholars, using it as a hallmark example of trying to understand illogical animal behavior.

Nimbinoldor	A widely known species, the Nimbinoldor is a domesticated bird species. They are often kept for hunting, or simply as social animals. Only having a history spanning about 150 years, many people are still unknowing of the bird. However it is popular among Rangers and some have even been found in Regalia, favored for their friendliness and hunting capability.

Imperial Hawk	The Imperial Hawk is an animal native to the Crown Isle in Regalia and has rarely left its homeland. The animal has always been a part of life in the imperial capital, living there since before the Cataclysm when the city was founded by the Regalian Kingdom. The hawk has colorations similar to that of the Common Imperial Pidgeon, but this is a deception tactic used to put prey at ease before striking. As the capital grows and expands, this bird is likely to be there right alongside it, nesting and gliding across the skies of the City of Light.

Mooan	Mooan are large, wingless birds found roaming the expansive grasslands of Daendroc. Eating a simple diet of insects and seeds, these creatures are endlessly preyed upon. Most consider the wingless fowl to be incredibly useless and stupid overall. While the flightless birds see their fair share of peril, they certainly aren’t as thick as most would first assume.

Ollivear	Ollivear resemble large, birdlike Ogres with arms and long feathers. They are hostile and dangerous predators that grow as tall as an Orc in height and far wider in girth. While native to Guldar, they have also made nests in Daendroc due to the Orcs transporting eggs during their great exodus.

Common Farm Chicken	From the lowest beggar to the highest nobleman, most residents of Aloria have laid their eyes on the Common Farm Chicken. One of the most ordinary animals you can find on nearly every continent, they have made their way as livestock on farms the world over. Originally hailing from Daendroc, the enslaved Ailors brought the wild ancestors of today’s chicken with them as they escaped their Elven captors. The Chicken is favored for providing plenty of food for those even with a small amount of coin. Even then, they still have a remarkable effect on different cuisines from all types of cultures.

Rokha	The Rokha is a winged titan, stalking the plains of Daendroc below it from the skies with keen vision, and painting the lands red with precise dives and strikes from the deadly claws mounted on its feet. The Rokha has for centuries inspired terror into the hearts of the people who lived near the mountains of Daendroc, inhabiting the northwestern regions of the Zuimobragan Peninsula. These enormous predatory birds have been a plague on the Altalar cities built into the mountainsides for millennia, and the Elves best efforts to eradicate the bird has severely decreased their numbers. To this day, its feathers and claws are prized trinkets among the Elven population, and the Daen humans as well.

Longtail Gryphon	Viewed as a strange beast by both the Varran and the Elven Empire, this native Ithanian species is rarely, if ever, interacted with by any being outside of its own species. Later into the time of the Elven Empire, the beast became symbolic of Ithania itself, subsequently causing their image became a standard architectural feature. In the years since the Cataclysm, the animal has retreated deeper into the Ithanian forests they reside in. The creature’s most notable feature is its inability to fit into neither avian nor mammalian, simply defined as a feline head connected to a bird-like body. Today, they are most commonly seen set in stone as a minor animal in the pantheon of architectural symbolism the highly cultured Ithanians make use of though some Ithanian nobles do seek the challenge of hunting down this beast.

Two-Claw Raptor	An agile nightmare to some, and a loyal companion to others, the Two-Claw Raptors have been used as battle-mounts and hunting dogs for almost as long as the Mu-Allar have existed. It would seem as if the two reptilian hunters share a bond not only through physical appearance, but by their like-mindedness. They live in large packs in the jungles of Sendras, and are prone to conflicts with opposing raptor packs.

Sendrassian Long Maw Saurian	The Sendrassian Long Maw Saurian is a relentless predator, dominating the deeper parts of the continent of Sendras. Infamous for being one of the largest and strongest predators on Aloria, this enormous creature has had fairly great impact on the Mu-Allar culture and lifestyle. A frightening and savage beast, the Sendrassian Long Maw’s presence is largely unknown to most races and the outside world as a whole. In addition its body parts, such as its scales and bones, are highly sought after as alchemical components for the Al-Allar.

Crú’áellë’ciádenӧ	A tenacious body and a vicious bite, the Crú’áellë’ciádenö is a small airborne reptilian from Sendras that was brought to Daen, via the first Elven expeditions to the ancient continent. It is one of the few reptiles capable of flight, by use of its extended arms with a sail of muscle membranes attached to it. It has caused many Elven and Allar biologist to bicker over the name, since the most widely known name for the species was made by the Elves, however the Allar claim to have named it first.

Medskala	Feared as a merciless killer, and told of in the oral tales and stories of Nordskagian people, the Medskala is a slithering predator from the Kingdom of Nordskag. Although similar in more ways than one to their serpentine cousins, these snakes are much bigger, more dangerous, and extremely cunning. The Medskala is reputed throughout Nordskag and generally given a wide berth by Nordskagians out of fear of being consumed.

Common Grass Snake	The Grass Snake, as implied in the name, is a hilariously common and widespread animal. The combination of its near refusal to die, as well as the heavy emphasis its body has on reproduction, has made the animal something of a marvel. Known for its annoying habit of nesting in gardens and bushels, the Grass Snake has a reputation for scaring adults and children alike due to its unsuspecting nature. The population of the Common Grass Snake has no rate of declining; in fact, biological experts state the opposite, that the population is increasing at an alarming rate.

Cobravv	The Cobravv is one of the more iconic animals of the Farah’deen deserts. Tales warn of these venomous snakes all throughout the folklore of the Qadir and Songaskia people alike. This nocturnal animal hunts lizards and other prey at night, but if you step on its burrow you are sure to fall to its deadly bite. Despite their legendary dangerous traits and territorial ways in the wild, the animal has been tamed and used in street performances and can even be domesticated as pets. Those that use this animal in performances call themselves ‘snake-charmers’ and use a flute to command the Cobravv on what to do.

Rainbow Snake	The Rainbow Snake is one of the more curious animals in Aloria, exclusively inhabiting the jungles of Sendras. These oily serpents linger in the jungle floors, tending to hide in the dark, but shine with a multitude of colors when the sun is cast upon them. Even though the Rainbow Snake has few predators, they are still uncommon sight to be seen. Currently, the creature is prey to those with eyes for exotic beasts, poachers seeking rare skins, and craftsmen craving expensive additions for their works.

Ghor Ka Bloodscale	In the eyes of many, Ghor Ka Bloodscales are odd creatures. These curious creatures are thought to be the result of several failed Allar experiments that could not be eradicated by the alchemists and scientists who created them. A small reptile with red scales, the Ghor Ka Bloodscale is intelligent enough to converse with other members of their own species, have a primitive form of written communication, and even make crude weaponry. Though they are native to the jungles of Sendras, Hadar, and Teled Methen, Ghor Ka Bloodscales can often be found on pirate and slaver vessels due to their ability to make mutually beneficial pacts with sentient races such as the Allar, Slizzar, Varran, and Altalar.

Ridgeback Stalker	Elusive and ferocious, these camouflaged killers strike their unsuspecting prey from above. Not much is known about these mysterious predators, resulting in their status as the source of many wandering tales and ghost stories. Because of this, these large lizards have gained an infamous reputation, leading to them being hunted over the years. The lizard’s elusive nature and rock-like scales, however, have allowed them to hide away in the rocky cliffs and caverns that defines most of the southern New Ceardian coast line.

Hagaan	All throughout the deserts of Aloria, there are many dangers that worry travelers and merchants alike. Most worry about their camels dehydrating, or lack of food, but little does the common traveler ever think about the animals that lurk in the dark of the desert waiting for a victim. The Hagaan is one of the infamous reptiles to walk the deserts of Aloria, and it is feared by Qadir and Ailor alike for its deadly bite.

Kelp	Cunning and deceitful, the Kelp of Aloria were only recently discovered in the colonial lands of New Ceardia. Prone to taking on magical guises, they are notorious for luring their victims to secluded places and killing them. They predominantly dwell in underwater caves, away from the outside world. Kelp are rare and fascinating, but a person should treat these creatures with the utmost care when in contact with them.

Kyanprat	The unfortunate souls that stray too close to a swamp's edge often find themselves the meal of a Kyanprat. There are few beings, animal or otherwise, that pose any danger to this horrifying creature. Ranging between sixteen and eighteen feet tall with an odd mixture of reptilian and mammalian features, these swamp-dwelling beasts are a lethal sight to behold.

Pastalid	Though its prickly appearance may suggest otherwise, the colorful Pastalid is a popular pet among Aloria’s artists and performers. Despite their unusual and inhospitable habitat, the Pastalid has captured the attention of the Alorian public far from its Ithanian home. Basilisk	Very few creatures are as vilified and dangerous as the great Basilisk. This colossal serpent, known as the Great King of Snakes, patrols the stone forests of Llíü’raëth searching for rare metals, treasure, or prey to feast upon. Though its origins are unknown, many attribute the Basilisk to be a final descendent of the Green Dragons that occupied Hyarroc thousands of years ago. The Basilisk lives in a massive sinkhole called The Maw, thought to be a burial site of the snake’s ancestors. Today, the ancient serpent wanders the stone forest, exerts control over the Stone Forest Snakes, and is considered to be one of the most deadly monsters in Aloria.

Deep Sea Serpent	The Deep Sea Serpent is one of the largest creatures in all Aloria, certainly in the Alorian Oceans. For centuries they were worshipped as divine beings and living gods by the Slizzar, but their numbers diminished after the Cataclysm. With the fall of the Essa Empire, Deep Sea Serpents were declared extinct after the Regalian military’s victory at Fesso Hualla. Unknown to many, the Deep Sea Serpent still lives on in the depths of the ocean, but they have become very scarce following the Bone Horror Crisis that filled their waters with undead monstrosities.

Mossassarios	The Mossassarios is a primeval terror primarily found beneath the Western Calms, stalking the waters in search of prey. This marine reptile bears some similarity to lizards, with four limbs and a tail. For as anyone can remember, the Mossassarios have been a danger to the ships around the western landmasses since the early Elves and Allar first took to the waters. To hunt such a beast is a dangerous undertaking, but those who manage to bring one down can be greatly rewarded. Mossassarios have not made much of an impact beyond the west, but are a risk any sailors in those waters may face. Currently, they’re most infamous for the sinking of merchant vessels in the area.

Great Bog Snapper	The existence of the Great Bog Snapper is unquestionably not a great one, being so lackluster that it spawned the common saying “Only swamp rocks and water today”, which remains to be used to Anglian hunters to describe a lackluster tripBaring a size far more massive in comparison to an everyday snapping turtle, the snappers are exclusive to only the swamps and bogs of Anglia and its surrounding regions. They are relatively easy to find due to their sheer size and lack of migration. Because they are dormant for the majority of the day, and only to snap out at any small prey to come near, it is no wonder these turtles are described as large stones.

A strange mix of a snake and a skate with iguana-like scaly skin, this creature has mystified casual beach-goers and swimmers for generations. Salas’maïdar	The Salas’maïdar is by far one of the most common creatures known in Aloria. It’s unique life cycle and long lifespan have caused it to be the subject of research and curiosity since it was discovered. This species has remained hidden from the gaze of biologists for some time despite its large size due to its coloration, and unique burrowing habits. Its life cycle is nearly constantly researched by young, aspiring biologists.

Effhlekh Salamander	The Effhlekh Salamander is a mysterious jewel of Farah’deen, an amphibian that makes it’s home in desert-covered lands with little water, and an animal that is of particular fascination to Qadir-Almae engineers. This salamander makes its home in the oases and on the coasts of Farah’deen, though the scarcity of water and its inhospitable habitat have begun to wear down its population. Documented even before the Great Storm, this amphibian has been a part of Farah’deen’s history for centuries. One of the most interesting parts about this salamander is it’s color-shifting skin in the presence of high concentrations of Binral Essence, a trait that has surrounded species in superstition. Despite the population decline in the wild, the Effhlekh Salamander remains a mysterious link to the past and is often now found in captivity as an exotic pet.

Phlarkie	While the cities of Etosil often come alive at night with the flickering of hundreds of candles, the hills and pastures of the countryside are often speckled with the glowing embers of the Phlarkie. A small amphibian with a natural affinity for fire, Phlarkies have a natural combustible compound that is created in a special organ located in their back. They were originally discovered when the first settlers arrived in Etosil, who were drawn to the mysterious lights that dotted the rocky terrain, only to find a bizarre six legged creature that was warm to the touch. Phlarkies are found across Etosil, found even in farmer’s homes as they lie among the embers of the hearth. They do not bother local citizens much more than simply being in the way and they do a wonderful job keeping the bugs away. Etosians have come to appreciate their little companions, and because of that, the Phlarkie is often considered one of the symbols of Etosil.

Flats Glider	Large, swift and cunning, the Flats Glider is both a prized and dreaded catch for any fisherman. Often found in freshwater rivers in New Ceardia, the Flats Glider is a large freshwater stingray, notorious for its difficulty to catch. It is named for its ability to glide through the water. These large, typically docile beasts are prized for the unique flavor of their meat, and the amount of said meat on them makes them all the more valuable of a catch. Nowadays, their numbers dwindle, but they breed rapidly enough to endure the constant fight to get them out of the water and onto a plate.

Red Fairfin Fish	The Red Fairfin is an iconic fish commonly found in meals from the cities across Daen. The Elven Empire once served the fish to its leaders, but now it is commonly found throughout the towns that dot the continent. The Fairfin’s flashy fins and obvious brood give it no chance to stand against its Ailor hunters. Its large numbers and steady population have caused it to surge in popularity, and nobles want it as a live pet but have failed to domesticate it as the animal requires moving water to live. Predators on its native continent often feast on it due to the fish not having any defense mechanisms, save for remaining in large groups at all times.

Meetok Fish	The Meetok Fish is a swamp-dwelling fish from Serass, and is one of the most populous animals on the jungled landmasses. With origins dating back centuries, the animal has remained unchanged over the years, as it has near-perfectly adapted to the swamps and vegetation-filled rivers of the landmass. It is most known for its brilliant emerald, ruby and sapphire colorations as well as having an incredibly brief life cycle. Today, people and animals across the world enjoy this fish as a food source, greatly enjoying the simple but tasty creature.

Yǒudú Jīnyú	The Poison Koi, specifically known as “Yǒudú Jīnyú”—which roughly translates into “poisonous goldish” in Common—among the inhabitants of the Yang-Tzu Islands, is a treacherous, seemingly harmless fish that lives in familial schools, and are often kept in special types of ponds. This type of fish is unfortunately one of the most deadly creatures to keep around or even remain in vicinity of due to its constant secretion of toxins. When not found in the wild, they are often captured and sold for high bargains to the wealthiest houses, often those of royalty.

Blubvoldta	The Blubvoldta is a cold-water bottom-dwelling fish with a hideous appearance. While their bloated body gives the appearance of a lazy creature, its quick reflexes, and dangerously sticky tongue make it a fearsome animal. Rarely seen outside of their deep water habitat, they are valuable to alchemists and craftsmen because of their internal body slime. While the substance on its own is disgusting, diluting it with Vocadine or other alcohol-based alchemy mixtures often produce an excellent flame resistant lacquer.

Kalmian Spineback	The Kalmian Spineback is a fish unique to the Inner Kalm Sea in The North Belt. An anadromous fish, they swim up the various streams and rivers that feed the Sea to breed. As a result, all of the nearby Velheim nations are supplied with food every autumn in a predictable fashion. In ancient times it was said to be easier as the fish never “fought back” like they do today; their sharp spines are known to hurt animals hunting them as well as fishermen, causing damage to their tools as well. Regardless of this, the Kalmian Spineback remains a constant source of food for the local people around the Sea.

Walking Sea City Coral	An oddity in the Oceans of Aloria, the Walking Sea City Coral appears true to its namesake. A staggeringly large coral entity, this oddity wanders the warmer oceans of the world. The Walking Sea City Coral is a conglomerate of smaller corals belonging to the same species, clumping together to form one larger animal. The smaller Walking Sea Cities are typically one hundred-fifty to three hundred feet across, although they have been known to get as large as several hundred square feet. The Walking Sea City Coral has found itself home to schools of Maiar in the past and undoubtedly will continue to do so. This coral, in particular, holds relative importance for Aloria on an ecological scale. An essentially a nomadic marine ecosystem, it acts as a carbon and nitrogen fixer in the ocean.

Staryon Starfish	A common sight among the aquatic wildlife in Essalonia, the Staryon Starfish is truly one of a kind. This little invertebrate comes in a variety of colors which all depend on the temperature of their habitat and the composition of their diet. Although they have a relatively short and uninteresting history in the eyes of most scholars, the Staryon has a special place on the coasts of Essalonian states and the waters surrounding it. The Staryon can also be used to produce vibrant dyes but many of these are only available to merchants of the Songaskian Masaya and insular states, making them rare in other areas of Aloria. Many scholars in the field of aquaculture continue to study the Staryon and its remarkable ability to convert different materials into a natural dye.

Nordskag Kreb	Many fishermen and people who posses a general love for the sea will know the Nordskag Kreb. One of larger of the crab species, many inhabitants of the North adore catching and eating this crustacean. Populating the majority of the waters in Nordskag, the Nordskag Kreb has been a delicious meal for the Velheimers that caught them since they began catching them centuries ago. With a somewhat spiky and hard shell, all predators of the crab tend to be way bigger than it, as is custom with crustacean species. The Nordskag Kreb is rather abundant, and has a sweet flavor when their meat is properly cooked, the Kreb’s primary use is as a generic food product across Aloria, though focused in areas dominated by the Velheim.

Whale Crab	While regular Alorians may be more accustomed to folklore of beasts and creatures on land or soaring through the skies, menacing creatures such as the Whale Crab are revered by pirates and privateers alike. These crabs are like no other crustacean, having an enormous size that dwarfs Alorians. In the years following the Cataclysm, sea-travellers have repeatedly reported sightings of these colossal crustaceans, despite disbelief from some of their land-dwelling acquaintances. Most, if not all, seafarers have a certain fear of these beasts in their heart, unsure when the crabs will strike. Like many other mythical leviathans, Whale Crabs are seen in folklore across coastal cultures and any individual who claims to live on the open sea.

Common Sunstripe	Buzzing, bobbing, bumbling; the Common Sunstripe is, as the name suggests, incredibly common, and is the best known member of the bee family found in Aloria. The Common Sunstripe is found in all temperate climates of Aloria, including most of the Daen supercontinent and the Regalian Archipelago. Their nests can be found in the high branches of trees, and even sometimes in the dense grasses of a prairie. Common Sunstripes were first domesticated in Anglia around 9 AC, starting the wonderful trade of bee-keeping. Today, Common Sunstripes can be found across the Regalian Empire and its client-states, raised by farmers and enthusiasts alike to produce honey for the citizens of the Empire.

Anglian Bee	The Anglian Bee is known across the Regalian Archipelago as one of the most important animals to the Anglian ecosystem, despite being one of the smallest. The Anglian Bee, named after the place they are assumed to have originated from, are responsible for the pollination of the majority of the plants found in the Regalian Archipelago. Farmers in the region of Anglia often have great respect for these bees simply due to the fact that they allow the farmers to have a profitable crop, and without them much of the Regalian population would starve. Through Anglian migration, the Anglian Bee can be found in areas across the Archipelago and in pockets across the Regalian Empire. Their honey is said to be the sweetest in the world and the animal shows no sign of decreasing in numbers.

Hadar Wasp	Hadar Wasps are large diptera insects found in Hadar as well as the coastline of Sendras. These giant creatures served as a formidable menace to the various Hadarian kingdoms in their earlier years, and because a minor obstacle to Regalian troops and sailors during the Chrysant Wars. Today they remain unaffected by the frequent wars of the continent, and are now one of the most prevalent forms of life on the islands.

Saruhanna Sand Ant	The Saruhanna Sand Ant is a massive insectoid predator, preying on anything unfortunate enough to blunder into its territory. Uniformly reaching around 6 ft long and sporting a gunmetal silver carapace, these arthropods are perfectly suited to prey on the less fortunate denizens of Saruhanna. There are many theories as to how these creatures reached their massive size: some believe it was as a result of experimentation by ancient civilisations, others believe it was a result of the Cataclysm, and some suspect it is simply an extreme adaption to help them hunt larger prey. Regardless, they are a serious threat to any explorer, especially ones who are foolish enough to stray into the ants’ cavernous colony networks. Currently, Saruhanna Sand Ants are confined to a multitude of large colonies dotted across Faradh, and have become infamous among the locals as dangerous pack hunters.

Fendar Rotbite	The Fendar Rotbite, while not particularly dangerous, is certainly an unpleasant creature. This vile arthropod thrives on rotting bodies, the cause of its loathing. Rotbites were first discovered on Fendarfelle in 263 AC by an Ithanian logging company, whose workers called it “La Pourriture”. They make homes for themselves in graveyards and the dense jungles of the region. In modern times, the bugs are fairly uncommon due to their reclusive behavior, but still a nuisance that most graveyard workers must deal with.

Common Red Ant	As one might assume by their name, the Common Red Ant is rather widespread and known to exist on every continent containing a tropical climate, but their population is mainly centered in Daendroc. The Common Red Ant is an integral part of the ecosystem, assisting in the breaking down of leaves and killing other pest insects such as cockroaches and termites. For most, the fire ant is a pest that often burrows into the grounds near their homes and when agitated, whether accidentally or on purpose, sting their victim mercilessly. These ants are of great interest to scientists, though, due to their polymorphism, ability to survive, and mutualistic relationships with other insects and species that they appear to form.

Common Bloat Fly	With its shiny, metallic colouring, the Common Bloat Fly is often seen around most parts of the Regalian Archipelago. Armed with an irritating sting, these creatures are viewed as nothing more than pests, feeding off of the waste of the Regalian Empire. This insect is often studied by scientists and scholars alike in an attempt to rid the world of its abhorrent presence.

Sewer Bloat Fly	Horrifically mutated insects equipped with acidic bile whilst carrying the debilitating Mind Rot, the Sewer Bloat Fly is among the most feared predators of the Regalian Sewers. This scavenging fly has a body the size of a fist, thought to be the result of exposure to Void Essence or alchemical runoff, making it a terrifying sight to behold. It's highly defensive behaviour, coupled with their fast reproductive rate makes Sewer Bloat Flies very difficult to contain or remove from any one place. This creates a big problem for those who dwell in the Regalian Undercity; it is becoming increasingly difficult to prevent these insects from taking over more and more of the sewer systems, eventually rendering them completely uninhabitable.

Sewer Rot Fly	Found in large swarms, the Sewer Rot Fly finds and consumes unattended corpses in a matter of days. These horrific flies live in large cities, and can reduce a corpse to nothing but clean bones. It’s a commonly known fact that the insides of the flies are exceedingly dangerous. Every fly is filled with a rank sludge that will cause gangrene if it comes in contact with the skin. This makes combating swarms highly dangerous, and possibly deadly. Wherever there is death, the Sewer Rot Fly will be close by.

Bugutza	The Bugutza is a creature very few people would ever even consider to exist on Aloria. A large grub creature the size of a man’s arm, the insect has been a source of food for the Naylar inhabitants of the island for years, making it an integral part of their cuisine and thus, their culture.

Farah’deen Dune Worm	Ever-violent and vicious titans, the Farah’deen Dune Worm lurks deep beneath the sands of Farah’deen, exploding out of the ground without warning to swallow up prey. The Dune Worm is a creature of unbelievable size and appetite that will consume almost anything in its path, including other Dune Worms. These rare monsters are some of the most feared things in all of Farah’deen, able destroy any caravan traveling on the sands within an instant.

Hadarian Beetle	Hadarian Beetles are over-sized insects treated as a common delicacy to the Allar and Slizzar. The insect emerged from the depths of Hadar during the last Void Invasion, sprouting from the earth and remaining topside as the archipelago formed around them. During the foundation of the Essa Empire, the beetle became renown as a Naylar delicacy and was widely consumed. With the fall of the Essa Empire the Hadarian Beetle's population in the wild has doubled since what it once was. The animal is most common in the eastern regions of the island chain today, with the more recent use as a carnival oddity. When prompted with food, the insect can perform simple tasks such as pushing and pulling small items and this is often done for the amusement of others.

Giant Spider	The Giant Spider is considered one of the most terrifying creatures on the continent of Fendarfelle. This fact has baffled scholars, since this is true merely because of the fact that is a Giant Spider, and not really considerate of the fact that it is dangerous. Although creatures like Kyanprat and other, much larger, fauna are the source of many horror stories and tribulations, the Giant Spider is often the go-to for many novellas and tall tales. Even in comparison to the rest of Fendarfelle’s native fauna, the Giant Spider is a classically terrifying beast for most any Alorian.

Grashobaig	The Grashobaig is a large snail found near and around the border between Hyarroc and Daendroc. Normally the size of a horse, these slow and docile creatures are seemingly harmless, though their defense mechanism holds a dark and dangerous threat to any who approach with intention of harm. While they grow at fast rates and breed regularly, their numbers are dwindling in the Dark Iron Tribelands and Blood Clan Tribelands due to hunting from Orcs who seek to best one of the grand gastropods as a challenge of skill.

Deep Sea Giant Loptus	While the Oceans of Aloria have been barely explored, the Deep Sea Giant Loptus lurks in the depths of all of them. The Deep Sea Giant Loptus is a gigantic squid, using two large tentacles to move swiftly through the water by propelling itself forward in a spiral motion. For many years these leviathans have remained hidden, only shown in folklore throughout many cultures. Many seafarers claim they’ve spotted the creature, though the validity of this is tenuous, as the Deep Sea Giant Loptus are uncommon and few in number. The size of this creature has taken the interest of scholars, and its ferocious mentality has been adapted to folklore in some cultures.

Squiggs Octovin	Although it is one Aloria’s better known mollusks, the Squiggs Octovin is still widely regarded as one of the quirkiest creatures to live in the sea. It is odd-looking, decorates patches of the sea floor with underwater debris, and sprays clouds of ink at anything that is unfortunate enough to frighten the creature. It is found throughout the shallow seas of Corontium and along the Eastern shores of Daen, but nowhere else in the world. The Octovin is considered a meal by some, and a source of luxury ink by others. But, like all of Aloria’s mollusks, not a whole lot is known about the Octovin.

Haurmann	If there ever was a creature that deserved to die, it would be the Haurmann. Haurmann have no purpose in life other than to eat and annoy whomever they cross paths with. They resemble small walking eggs with horrific, almost balloon-like features on their faces, eyes that look like they could fall out of their sockets and crooked teeth that make one wonder how they can even consume anything. Haurmann are frequently the butt joke of comedy shows, and some particularly unentertaining bars or cafes have one behind the bar for cheap entertainment.

Nenya	Subject of many tales, myths, urban legends, and even religious fanaticism, the Nenya are an extinct species of sentient trees. These great Magus mysteries were thought to be taller than most Regalian buildings, and capable of walking—and even talking—with others. The Nenya have played an important role in Nelfin history; they are thought to have preceded the Elven Empire, and to have been magical emissaries of Estel herself. Unfortunately, the Nenya haven’t been seen since before the Cataclysm; during the Night of the Fallen Star, the Shendar ensured that the few remaining emissaries were driven into hiding, or further eradicated.

Temple Orphan	The greatest horror that stalks the jungles of Solangeria, the Temple Orphan, is responsible for the vast majority of deaths of explorers that dare to venture into the deep jungles. Temple Orphans are relatively rare, but the Solangeria Qadir always know where to find them, or more specifically how to guide intruders towards them to certain death. The Temple Orphans are as mysterious as they are deadly. Various mythical tales as to their origin existing among various peoples who have made contact with them and survived. Temple Orphans carry their name because while passive, they emit a sound that sounds eerily similar to a crying baby. As soon as their prey comes close enough, the sound stops, the head turns and death follows shortly. It should be noted that the Temple Orphans do not actually hunt their prey. They simply seem to attract anyone curious enough for the sake of killing them. Not even for food, as these creatures have never been witnessed to consume any of their victims or indeed any food at all. It simply just kills for the sake of killing.

Frost Wyvern	The Frost Wyvern is a mysterious creature endemic to Ellador that serves as the primary mount of the Isldar race. These winged animals were never seen before the Cataclysm, leading most to assume that the creatures were beasts left over from the Fifth Void Invasion or somehow the lesser offspring of the Great Ice Dragon. Regardless of their origins, the creatures have proven dangerous in combat against wild animals and other sentient races. Given the recent conflict in Ellador, some Northern nations fear the day that snowstorms will come bearing these creatures hiding inside them.

Bone Horror	Bone Horrors did not exist beyond the nightmares of the common folk until a year ago. While Undead do exist on Aloria, they are rarely as fast or as murderous as stories make them out to be. However, following the Battle of Adelaar Cliffs in the Regalia-Arloran War, the Bone Horror Crisis began. A worldwide event, it saw all rotting flesh and bones on several continents coalesce into creatures known as Bone Horrors. Filled with a mindless hatred for the living and even the Undead, these creatures did considerable damage to multiple nations and their people. An unknown magical event rendered them killable while simultaneously, Qadir mechanists crafted new weapons to defeat the monsters, turning the tide against them. Today, Bone Horrors still survive in pockets throughout the world, always on the move toward the living.

Dragons

Feathered Dragon	The Feathered Dragons were the only Dragon species presumed native to the Regalian Archipelago in the many millennia before their eventual assumed extinction around 20 BC. The Feathered Dragons are best remembered for having a major impact on the local environment of the early Regalian Kingdom, as well as living on in various symbolisms and family crests. Throughout the years before their assumed extinction, the Dragons had frequent contact with the early Regalian Humans, and as such, several theories and folk lore stories continue to thrive, particularly in Anglia and Drixagh.

Yellow Water Dragon	The Yellow Water Dragons were the smallest Dragons ever witnessed in the world of Aloria. These elegant small Dragons often lived near the water, more notably around coastlines of Hadar and Sendras. The Yellow Water Dragons were strongly adored by the Slizzar and, to a lesser degree, the Allar. Much like the other Dragon species, the Yellow Water Dragons went extinct some time around 50 BC by some disease that struck them over the course of a decade. The Allar attempted to save the Yellow Water Dragons, though to little effect unfortunately.

Black Desert Dragon	The Black Desert Dragon was a formidable force of nature that lived in Farah’deen for over a thousand years. They were violent tyrants with a complex relationship with other dragons and a xenophobic nature that caused them to hate all other forms of life. They are most remembered for possessing two sets of pitch-black wings which they used with brutal efficiency in stirring up air into powerful and destructive cyclones. In 113 AC, the Sariyd Empire finally had enough of them and unleashed a terrible weapon against the dragons: the Red Hunt. By 121 AC, the dragon was assumed extinct, but that same year, the Great Storm came and annihilated the Qadir’s vast empire. No Black Desert Dragon has been seen since, and it is assumed the Storm had killed off any that were left to begin with, as with the other desert dragons.

Red Desert Dragon	The Red Desert Dragon, not to be confused with the Red Fire Dragon, was a species of dragon originally from Farah'deen that was last recorded migrating to Solangeria. Baffling to most scholars, its disappearance happened within the same timespan as the other desert dragons, a fact that complements many Dregodarian conspiracy theories. With scales not quite as bright or brilliant as the Red Fire Dragons, the Red Desert Dragon was one of the less-spoken of dragons. This is a result of almost no recorded interactions with it; only some quantities of Qadir had even seen one before the Red Hunt. That being said, the Sariyd Empire clearly believed it to be as much a threat as the other Desert Dragons, otherwise, it would not have bothered killing any of it in their march through the desert.

Brown Desert Dragon	The Brown Desert Dragon was a close cousin to the more powerful and dominant Black Desert Dragon. The dragons lived together for centuries, the Browns always subservient to the Blacks and obeying their wants and desires. Their personalities were that of lap-dogs, constantly adoring and considering themselves lesser than their Black-scaled cousins. When the Sariyd Empire was weakened, they eagerly helped their cousins in their attacks on Qadir cities and were the first dragons to stand against the Qadir when the first Dragonkiller was unleashed against the dragonkind of Farah’deen. Similar to their cousin, the dragon was assumed extinct in 121 AC, because in that same year, the Great Storm came and annihilated the Qadir’s vast empire. No Brown Desert Dragon has been seen since.

Rock Desert Dragon	Named for both its habitat of choice and its appearance, the Rock Desert Dragon is one of the more intriguing and unusual among the dragon species. Along with the Great Sea Dragon, the Rock Desert Dragon could not fly, but unlike the Sea Dragon, it also could not swim. The land was their domain, and while the Rock Desert Dragon may be considered handicapped because of the lack of wings, it was in no way helpless. On the contrary, it was one of the stronger dragon species, having more brute strength than the Nightdrake and the Black Desert Dragon. As one might assume, however, its magical capabilities were less than admirable; it merely sported a diluted or weaker version of the Nightdrake’s ability to manipulate stone. It, along with the other members of the desert dragon family, was assumed eradicated by the Qadir in the Red Hunt. Given the Rock Desert Dragon’s nigh indestructible coat of rocky scales, it’s a frightening thought to consider that the Dragonkiller, the Qadir’s terrifying machine used in the eight years of the Red Hunt, could penetrate the armor of the dragon.

Sun Desert Dragon	Sometimes considered the antithesis of the innocent, childlike Yellow Water Dragon of Hadar, the Sun Desert Dragon is chaos incarnate on four legs. With the ability to spit molten, liquefied rock like a Cobravv spitting venom, it was rated amongst the dragons, that it causes the most painful and slow death imaginable out of the whole collection of dragons that ever existed on Aloria. Despite their capabilities for slow, drawn out death, they were one of the smaller species of dragon, rivaling the size of the Yellow Water Dragon. However, its size should not be used to underestimate its skill in battle or its prowess as a predator, as it can be even be considered more dangerous than many of the larger dragons.

Green Forest Dragon	The Green Forest Dragon was once one of the smaller species of dragon that roamed Aloria, yet despite their size, they were just as powerful as one would expect a dragon to be. It was a more commonly seen dragon, often soaring across the azure skies prior to the Great Dragon Hunt in 101 BC, when the nobility of the Elven Empire banded together to exterminate what they called “winged pests” from Aloria. Bones of these great beasts are kept even today by Avanthar dragon-worshipping cults, and revered as sacred artifacts of a greater time in Nelfin existence. These dragons, quite contrary to what propaganda was spread by the Altalar after their extinction, were exceedingly powerful, and were even rumored to be responsible for the success of the flora in Daen.

Yellow Sky Dragon	The Yellow Sky Dragon once dominated the skies of Sendras though they fell into declared extinction by all official sources. These daring creatures of the sky notably disappeared in 40 BC, with many disregarding this monumental event due to their nuisance-status in many civilizations. The Dragon was also noted for its ability to breathe poisonous gas, a trait they often utilized whilst hunting prey. With a limited impact, most have forgotten the Yellow Sky Dragon, though some alchemists still lust after their bones to produce truly frightening poisons.

Red Fire Dragon	The Red Fire Dragons are among the largest dragons known to Aloria, and are perhaps the most infamous. With no central habitat or base of operations, the dragons have been known to create dens all across Aloria. Although always presumed to be extinct, the actual status of the Red Fire Dragon’s existence is unknown, with some scholars going so far as to argue that their extinction never occurred, and their populace lays in wait for an opportune moment to establish themselves once more. Famous and unforgettable sightings of these avatars of destruction include the Siege of Cie’lanna, the Destruction of Ardenwald, and the Battle of the Ba’lellen Plain. However, the Battle of Ba’lellen was a very minor battle between the Elves, with not much history being offered on it. Some have theorized that the Pit of the Basilisk is an ancient Red Fire Dragon den, broken and crumbled by the decay of time, but this is obviously disputed by most other scholars.

Nightdrake	As mysterious as its scales are dark, the Nightdrake brought terror and fear to the hearts of Alorians for years until its eventual assumed extinction in 190 AC. The scales, strangely enough, proved to be non-biodegradable, and as such is the only dragon from which Dragon Scale Armor can be made. Its bones, like its scales, are very valuable to dragon worshippers-- especially Dragon Priests-- and produce an oddly savage fragrance when burned. As a result, some Dragon Dogma followers use the bones as a form of incense in their worship rites. Earlier in Alorian history, Elves and Ailor alike were afraid to venture into the mountains of Aloria, out of fear for the dragons that lived within.

For most, the fire ant is a pest that often burrows into the grounds near their homes and when agitated, whether accidentally or on purpose, sting their victim mercilessly. These ants are of great interest to scientists, though, due to their polymorphism, ability to survive, and mutualistic relationships with other insects and species that they appear to form.
