Eluhwa is a common edible fungi that grows underground and is cultivated in subterranean farms by Drowdar, as well as the few Shendar that reside on the island of Drowda. They hold almost a glowing blue hue and are covered in violet spots. Their taste is very earthen and hearty.

Origins
The Eluhwa fungi evolved in Drowda’s harsh expanses after being afflicted by the magical taint. With the contents of the void spilling forth freely into Drowda and resulting in many of the continent’s flora and fauna becoming twisted, depraved and distorted, it is surprising that the effects upon Eluhwa are relatively mild. The fungus remained as a simple cave mushroom, having not changed much from its original ancestor bar in colour, texture and shape. It feeds off of the magical taint within the ecosystem, its speckled fronds absorbing and thriving upon the magics present, causing them to glow a dull blue.

Etymology
History
Eluhwa is the name given to the plant officially by the Nelfin denizens of Drowda, though in order to distance themselves from the Shendar, whom they consider distasteful and often engage in conflict, it is sometimes called “Bulge Cap” by the Drowdar in reference to the fungi’s spongy texture and odd appearance.
Eluhwa has an uncertain providence; while populous today, there are several theories about its origin. Some connect it to small, teal blue-capped mushrooms that were known to grow in Drovv territories, others contend it was the melting of two different fungus species together. Yet more state it was a result of now dissipated Warpwoods, like those that happened in The Far West and southern Daen during the Wildering, except taking place in Drowda. Regardless of what its origin may be, all these theories have one commonality: the mushroom has certainly been touched by Planar Essences. While initially viewed with suspicion by the Sihndar, it is believed that the substance changed sometime around 50 AC, losing the worst of its unhealthy splotchy color scheme to instead settle into a more conventional color spectrum and size range. Feeling optimistic about the plant, various Sihndar tried it across the continent and determined that while bitter, it was edible, with further properties as a decongestant uncovered by 120 AC. As time progressed, Eluhwa revealed its unique trait. Unlike most other Drowda Flora, unable to be grown beyond the Forbidden Continent, Eluhwa could and took root among the Banner Holds in Kathar lands, though it largely remains dismissed by much of the populace of the Dread Empire. Today, Eluhwa retains its role within Sihndar cuisine across Aloria and even among some of the more adventurous Kathar dishes of the Dread Empire.

Primary Use
Appearance
Eluhwa is an edible form of cave mushroom found within southern Drowda, and it is cultivated in the large underground farms of Drowdar citadels or in the gloomy abodes of Shendar as a nutritious vegetable substitute. Its contents possess a rather hearty and earthy taste, with a fluffy, smooth texture. In Drowda, it is somewhat alike to a common potato, though given the magical corruption of the continent, the Drowdar and Shendar have no choice but to make do with this form of fungi.
Eluhwa are medium-sized mushrooms that grow between one and four inches in height, with a medium width white stalk about half an inch wide at its base up reaching to a broad, multi-colored domed fungal cap. This cap can vary between individual specimens but generally glows blue with pale purple splotches beneath this glow. The more mutated varieties, now very rare, have a wholly purple cap yet almost throb with pale blue light while pale white strands crack out of the top-middle of the fungus.
*Once the spongy purple cap is peeled off, the contents may be accessed and hence consumed. Eluhwa tastes better when cooked and mixed with salt.

*The Drowdar only recently discovered the use of Eluhwa as a vegetable substitute in roughly 203 AC after scavengers chanced upon an abundance of them sprouting within the underground caverns nearby their citadels. However, the Shendar have known of the Eluhwa’s hearty taste and use as a food supplement since 159 AC, having grown and nurtured it within their mountain hideouts in central Drowda for years.
Uses and Abilities
*In regards to the fact that Eluhwa grows solely in Drowda and cannot survive elsewhere, the only intelligent races who consume the fungus are the Drowdar and Shendar—meaning that no other races have experienced the taste.
Eluhwa is a common food source for those living on Drowda, and among the Sihndar who live in the Dread Empire. It can be eaten raw or cooked to add to the taste, but its most common use is in Praeter Stew. It has a bitter taste, but this can be easily masked by other ingredients, and the substance is also useful as a natural remedy to decongest the body.
*The two bulges of Eluhwa must be peeled back, as their texture and bland taste hold no real attraction as a food. The violet spots upon the caps may be used as an indication of whether the mushroom is fit to eat though, as the more spots means the better the quality.

Eluhwa is an edible mushroom that grows on the tainted land of Drowda. Eaten by the local wildlife and the Sihndar of the continent, it has a slightly bitter, spongey taste. • Eluhwa supposedly glows brighter when Magic is used in their presence, but not when Mages are nearby.
 • Eluhwa makes up the so-called “Drowda Trifecta” of mushrooms; sweet Honey Balls, the bitter Eluhwa and the neutral, sometimes described as salty, Praeter Stew Horn.
