The Ghor Ka Bloodscale are a lesser developed and distant cousin of the Naylar. They resemble ferret-like lizards that typically dress in primitive garb and carry spears. These beasts rarely grow as tall as an adult Human’s hip, however. They often attack wild life in Hadar or spear fish in the shallows, but they are too unintelligent to converse with anyone or form a cohesive society.

Physical Description
In the eyes of many, Ghor Ka Bloodscales are odd creatures. These curious creatures are thought to be the result of several failed Allar experiments that could not be eradicated by the alchemists and scientists who created them.  A small reptile with red scales, the Ghor Ka Bloodscale is intelligent enough to converse with other members of their own species, have a primitive form of written communication, and even make crude weaponry. Though they are native to the jungles of Sendras, Hadar, and Teled Methen, Ghor Ka Bloodscales can often be found on pirate and slaver vessels due to their ability to make mutually beneficial pacts with sentient races such as the Allar, Slizzar, Tigran, and Altalar.
The Ghor Ka Bloodscales, known simply as the Ghor Ka, are a group of small, lizard-like bipedal creatures who inhabit the jungles of Hadar. The Ghor Ka are a bright red in color, which is where they get the name 'Bloodscale'. They have yellow or cream underbellies and small spines running down their backs. Their patterns appear to be dependent on their habitat.

Ghor Kas tend to be around two to two and a half feet in height. If they're seen wearing anything at all, it will typically be leather armor or loin cloths. These creatures can sometimes be confused with baby Naylar, however they have a much more adult-like physique, with defined muscles and longer snouts. Their bright red color also betrays them, as well as the noticeable lack of an egg tooth.
History
While the Origins of the Ghor Ka Bloodscales are largely unknown, many theorists describe them as being failed Allar experiments that were dumped out into the wild. Records indicate that they accompanied the Al-Allar and Sa-Allar on their voyage across the South Talarinse Sea to Hadar, which Slizzar chronicles seem to confirm. The earliest mention of these interactions can be found in the annals of the Onzzons Kingdom (one of several kingdoms formed by the Allar immediately after their arrival in Hadar). Called “Ghorkasnass” by the texts, it depicts the creatures with Allar masters in the wilds of Hadar. The Slizzar are later seen adopting them as pets as well, but only by those who worshiped the Slizzar gods of pride Isskarno or the goddess of vanity Karidssa.

The arms of the Ghor Ka are adapted to allow for either bipedal or four-legged movement. While they are faster when they walk upright, they can crawl around very quickly and hide better when on four legs. The Ghor Ka have a long, thin tail and slightly webbed hands and feet. They will dive into the waters around Hadar and use them to swim, tucking their limbs in toward their body while flicking their whip tail back and forth very rapidly.
Since their migration to Hadar, the Ghor Ka Bloodscales have branched out from more than simple Allar pets. Traveling via Nelfin slaving ships, the Ghor Ka Bloodscales now live in Teled Methen in addition to Hadar and Sendras.. They have since developed their own communities outside of serving as pets and slaves to the higher races, though they are still hunted by the Nelfin, Allar, and Slizzar. Most are left alone in the wild but some still scoop them up to serve as pets, particularly pirates and slavers. They are also hunted for their red-scaled skin, but only on Sendras.

Society
Physical Appearance
Though the Ghor Ka Bloodscales lack what most people would call a society, they have a very crude concept of power and language, at a level similar to that of apes.
The Ghor Ka Bloodscales can be best described as small red lizard men, standing at a meager two - two and a half feet.  Their heads are reptilian, with a defined snout and parietal eyes facing forward. These eyes can be yellow, orange, or brown. They also have a tail that reaches back behind their body and can be moved about, most often seen when they are in the water and quickly move it for momentum. Then then have four limbs, two hind legs that often stay on the ground while two forearms stay off of it. The small reptilian creatures have strong rear legs that support them in an upright standing position but they can crawl on the ground for an extra burst of speed. Each limb has four webbed fingers with small claws on the fingertips. This webbing helps them to swim. Their underbellies are cream colored, and are much smoother than their backs.

The Ghor Ka are very solitary creatures. Often, the female will lay their eggs and leave them. The young then must then learn to fight for themselves, their education often limited to the observation of other creatures. These young Ghor Ka often fall prey to the many strange creatures of the jungles of Hadar.  Adult Ghor Ka have been known to even hunt and kill the young for food.
Diversity
Groups of Ghor Ka in any particular region have been seen to show off the same patterning on their stomachs and backs. Those that live deeper in the jungles have lighter underbellies and darker scales, while those closer to the coast have darker underbellies. Males and females are in equal numbers across the south of Aloria.

Ghor Kas are a very unintelligent group of creatures. Their language is primarily a loose collection of near-instinctual mating calls, clicks, hisses, and yelps, but better socialized groups seem to have managed a few dozen legitimate words, mostly pertaining to things like mating, hunting, and defending territory. In the past, Slizzar have been known to communicate with Ghor Ka, but this art seems to have been irretrievably lost with the collapse of the Chrysant Kingdoms. No races today are able to communicate with the Ghor Ka.
Life Span and Development
Ghor Ka Bloodscales are born in clutches of four or five eggs close to sources of water. The brown eggs, speckled with red blotches, hatch after four to five months. Mothers will protect the eggs only until the eggs hatch, at which point they will leave without further communication with their children. The hatchlings must then survive the wilderness; because their scales are soft at this time, they are very vulnerable to the dangers of the wild. Most Ghor Ka take up to a year or more before they grow to at least a foot tall in their “teenage” period. They then reach full size at around year three in their life. They are able to mate at age two and are thought to live for up to 15 years in the wild. Unfortunately, they do not make it past ten if held in captivity.

When hunting, the Ghor Ka will fashion very crude spears and don leather armor decorated with various feathers and bones. Numerous ornaments attached to a Ghor Ka's armor or clothing signifies a stronger hunter, and they are the most respected and feared of all. Some Ghor Ka have been seen looting the dead bodies of the more decorated to better outfit themselves.
Mental Overview
Ghor Ka Bloodscales are complex reptiles, with a level of intellect rarely seen in most fauna of Aloria. They can wield the crudest of weapons with their level of intellect, some being known to make little spears to help them with their hunting and use sharp pieces of flint or stone as knives. They are competitive and easily irritated, which often leads to infighting. These disputes are most often over kills or territory, but sometimes the reasoning is as irrational as one Ghor Ka disliking the presence of its victim. They are known to have a crude language at best, which contains various hisses, growls, and grunts indicating very rudimentary phrases such as “Mine,” or “Go away.” They are tameable, though mostly through a reinforcement of another’s dominance over their lives. Scholars equate this process to the training of wild cats, in that they need to be fed and shown where to sleep. Pirates and slavers prefer to let the Ghor Ka run wild and do what they please.  They mostly use the creature as a wild enforcer which is able to skitter around, bite people, and swim if thrown into the water.

Natural Habitat
Territory and Groupings
Deep within the jungles of the main islands of Hadar, the Ghor Ka make their home. Often found within thick trees or in underground burrows, the Ghor Ka are rarely seen walking in the open. The thick trees and soft soil of Hadar provide perfect homes, and the moist air and damp ground keeps them cool, preventing their scales from drying out.
Males and females mark small bits of territory like common dogs do, however, these micro-regions often makeup a communal territory shared byGhor Ka Bloodscales who have allied themselves together. These colonies are often found close to rivers or the coastline. Despite their remarkable speed, Ghor Ka Bloodscales live mostly sedentary lives, remaining in the same burrows and homes unless they are forced to move. They are incredibly territorial over those who are not apart of the clan, or even those members of the clan that challenge them. They will thus fight over land, the loser often fleeing away to the edge of the colony if they survive the battle.

The main area of where they call home is what separates two slightly different groups of Ghor Ka Bloodscales. Those that live within the trees have lighter underbellies and darker skin patterns, while the ones which live underground have darker underbellies and rich crimson scales covering their entire back. Those underground also tend to have longer claws and pointier snouts for digging.
Trivia
*One of the most intelligent Ghor Ka Bloodscales ever known to exist was named “Nestor” and was kept in the Imperial Menagerie of Regalia until it died at the age of twelve. A gift to Emperor Justinian II after the Chrysant War, Nestor could juggle three balls while balancing himself on a forearm. It also had a knack for escaping in its youth, getting out of three separate cages before age tempered him.
All, however, have a natural ability to swim and can often be found in coral reefs or burrowed into the sands of the shallows. They will stick their spears out to catch fish and eat them. When staying very still, some can hold their breath for up to fifteen minutes.
*During the Chrysant Wars, a company of Regalian soldiers encountered a  colony of Ghor Ka Bloodscales while trekking through a jungle in Hadar. The commander mistook them for baby Allar, and ordered them all killed. Unfortunately, the process was. The deed was done in the end, though the company sustained several bite wounds across their entire bodies.

*Ghor Ka Bloodscales are known to have a perpetually grumpy face to fit their attitudes. One thing that makes them laugh is seeing others in harm.
First Recorded Encounter
The Ghor Ka were first encountered by the Naylar hundreds of years ago. They were often captured and sold as rather unreliable slaves. However, the Slither sometimes welcomed them as peers within their pirating groups, employing them as scouts. Somewhat like trained animals looking forward to a food reward, they excelled at stealing various treasures from an area without being spotted.

When Humans first came to Hadar, the Ghor Ka were thought to be a form of Naylar, and they too were slaughtered. Their numbers dwindled until only a small number of them remained. It wasn't until much later study that they were labeled as distinct from Naylar, due to their vastly different societies and lack of intelligence.

History
The Ghor Ka have been sold on the slave trade in Regalia, and are often relatively cheap, due to them being unintelligent and not capable of speech. Some have been kept as pets in cages. However, their short lifespan, about ten years or even far less in poor conditions, limits their popularity.

Their species, after several years of slaughter, has nearly fully recovered and now thrives on the main island of Hadar. However, this population boom helps the Slither pirates who often capture them for trade, earning up to 300 regals or so each.

Trivia
*A young Ghor Ka Bloodscale is called a Hisckt, while an adult is called a Hipkt.
*Male Ghor Kas are on average, two inches taller than females and have brighter patterns, often with yellow, almost feather-like crests made of dead scales.
*Their scales are very strong and light. In early Naylar society, they were sometimes used as armor during wartime.
*Raw Ghor Ka Bloodscale is a Naylarn delicacy, and is served with garlic and herbs in a dish called 'Niku Ka Ghor,' or 'Flesh of Ghor Ka.' It is traditionally served with fish and rice. Other races who have inadvertently sampled the dish usually contract parasitic infections or worms.
