Lullalys has two uses, the first deriving from its passive ability to render people asleep. When chewed or ingested in a tea-form, the plant helps ensure restful sleep and can help to calm the mind before sleep is desired. Unfortunately, it matters a great deal who eats the plant, and at what stage it was plucked. It has been found that from the flower’s pinkish-purple stage onwards, it works as less of a pleasant, harmless sedative, and more of a restless, tiring sleep substance for [[Exist]] and [[Void]]-influenced beings ([[Vampires]], [[Kathar]], and more), where they are lulled to an unpleasant, lengthy slumber for up to 6 hours. The flower has been theorized to hold an inherent vestige of [[Primal Essence]] within it which possibly causes the negative reaction to the aforementioned beings. Scholars and historians have also discussed if this may be a lingering remnant of when the Dragons were once plentiful across Kintyr.

The Lullalys is known for its colorful annual blooming season that lasts throughout the month of June. It has been used to induce drowsiness for generations by the Breizh Ailor, and is a visually appealing bloom that is celebrated for its remarkable hues. Boasting a full spectrum of color-changing petals, the Lullalys is not only something many Breizh enjoy in their home through the long-lasting blooming phase but also a significant part of the local medical field as a treatment for restless sleep.

History

Discovered sometime centuries ago by the reclusive and isolationist population of Kintyr, the Lullalys plant was soon tied into local mythology as a magical plant due to its changing colors after blossoming. Adding to this, the Valley of Sleep became a motif of sloth and a place of punishment or seduction for people. In truth, the Valley was never real, but to this day, it is still associated with a region of western Kintyr, suggesting where the plant first originated. Regardless of this origin, the plant still spreads into urban centers as, captivated by the plant’s distinct petals and range of colors, the Breizh brought the flower to their settlements and planted in their cities. Foreigners, rare that they were to the generally bleak land, were intrigued by the potential of Lullalys as an alchemical ingredient. As a result, it was taken from Kintyr and imported to other regions of the Regalian Archipelago. With experimentation from alchemists, it proved a safe sedative and it can now be found growing in various small areas across the Archipelago.

Appearance

The Lullalys stands at roughly two feet tall, with a thick bunching of narrow, pointed leaves along its surface. This stem is a pale yellow to pale green in coloration, as are its leaves. The plant’s initial buds always droop toward the ground and have the same pale yellow or pale green coloration. As the plant’s blooming process proceeds, it turns deep yellow, then orange over the course of about twelve days. From here, over the course of roughly sixteen more days, the flower fully blooms, lifting itself upright as it opens its layered, round petals. These turn pink, then purple, and finally reach a deep blue hue, which is when the stamen begins to emerge with star-shaped heads from between the last of the darkest shade of petals. It is at this point that the Lullalys is considered to be its most potent as an herb, as anything earlier is generally weak and not as useful.

Uses and Abilities

Lullalys has one use, deriving from its passive ability to offer restful sleep. When chewed or ingested in a tea-form, the plant helps ensure that when the individual next sleeps, their mind will be calmed and the experience restful. Unfortunately, it matters a great deal who eats the plant, and at what stage it was plucked. It has been found that from the flower’s pinkish-purple stage onwards, this positive effect will not work for Exist and Void-influenced beings (Vampires, Kathar, and more), causing their sleep to be as restful, or not restful, as it would be normally. The flower has been theorized to hold an inherent vestige of Primal Essence within it which possibly causes the lack of influence on the aforementioned beings. Scholars and historians have also discussed if this may be a lingering remnant of when the Dragons were once plentiful across Kintyr.

Trivia

  • The plant was once called Dragonflower due to their possible Dragon connection, but that confusion with the other, very exotic Farah’deen flower quashed this brief fad.
