* Manebeasts can shift into three different forms, the Half-Form, the Full-Form and the Beast-Form. These transformations are practically instant and can be done as long as a Manebeast is able to stand up and concentrate. The first two forms can be used in roleplay, while the third Beast-Form is reserved for Progressions Posts only.

* The Half-Form causes the Manebeast to grow more aggressive body hair and facial hair (regardless of their gender) while their hands hands gain large claw nails. Their canine teeth also grow half-an-inch past their upper lips. Their physical Body Shape increases by two stages (up to Muscular maximum), and they become slightly larger (usually about half a foot). Manebeast wild forms are slightly faster, but remain humanoid in their capacity and strength, only really gaining the advantage of faster running, and large claws on their hands. A Manebeast in this form can transform back at will or when knocked out.

! style="text-align: center; font-weight:bold; background-color:#c0c0c0;" | Description
* The Full-Form is practically identical to the Silven Beast lord muter, allowing them to transform into a wolf-humanoid hybrid with a furred skin and a canine head and legs and tail. This form is at 2 average warrior strength and Varran-like speed, with large claws and the ability to howl like a wolf, but still talk like a person. Size wise, a Manebeast is two feet taller as their normal form, and considerably larger in width too, being 2 or 3 stages above their natural Body Shape (up to a maximum of Strongman). A Manebeast  in this form can transform back at will or when knocked out. Manebeasts in this form also take on more wolf-like behavioral traits and can run faster on all fours.
+
|-
* The Beast-Form can only be done during Progressions in which the Manebeast becomes a large feral dire-wolf, except four times as large (so large enough that two Orcs could comfortably ride on its back while still being comparative small to the beast they are riding). The Beast-Form of a Manebeast is extremely dangerous, strong and fast, capable biting through plate steel and fast enough to outrun catapult projectiles. When this form ends (either by being knocked out, or by being tired out) the Manebeast turns back to humanoid form and then faints, unable to retain enough energy to remain awake. Manebeasts cannot exit Beast-Form without tiring themselves out.

| Beast Physiology
*All Manebeast forms are fairly consistent, though some body proportions do differ. They all have silver eyes, raven black fur across their entire body, with colorations of white and silver across their fur in patterns unique from Manebeast to Manebeast. Manebeasts (as well as Bitten) all have a unique pattern that can be told apart from each other.

* Both Bitten and normal Manebeasts, while in their beast form, are classified as Beast Type Transformations. It is not recommended to transform into a Beast Type Transformation in front of a Guard, as they will be prompted to attack to kill.

===Bitten Manebeasts===
* Bitten Manebeasts become infected from a special type of voluntary Manebeast Shard bite. The infection is instant, and during the rapid infection rate, the Bitten Manebeast rapidly shifts from normal to the Half-Form then the Full-Form and then back to humanoid again, while also gaining the know-how to shift between forms. All other traits are instantly gained. To cure Bitten Manebeast, exorcism or any kind of cleaning Magical spell that would otherwise remove possession can be used. A Shard can only produce 2 Bitten at a time and cannot cure a Bitten manually, requiring some form of exorcism.
+
All Shardbeasts are capable of infecting up to two other individuals with their Beast Powers, done through a ritual bite. This bite can only be cured through exorcism, but does make the Bitten variant of the Beastshard more positively inclined (almost to the point of loyalty) to their Shard (though not mind control or complete submission). Bitten as they are called, also gain a set of Powers and Abilities:
* Bitten Manebeasts can transform into the Half-Form as well as the Full-Form, but retain their natural body shapes in either form. Unlike the Shard, they do not gain additional height or muscular growth during their transformation, retaining their old proportions. They do however gain all the claws and hair for the Half-Form and the canine head, fur on their body and wolf-like legs in the Full-Form. Especially while in the Full-Form and the Shard that made them Bitten is near, they act like wolves in a wolf pack to that Shard. If absent, they can however operate fine like a lone wolf or with other Bitten.
+
{| class="wikitable"
* Bitten can attain some of the Mental Characteristics of the Shards also, but this differs from person to person. In general, the more a Bitten embraces their Manebeast form or identity, the stronger their sense of smell becomes and their stoic behavior or their predisposition to wolf behavior quirks.

Soul Sharding

Afflictions

A Soul Sharding or Soul Shard, is a state in which the Soul of a natural Alorian being shares a symbiosis with a particular residue of an older Soul. An older Soul is something or a person who has died many centuries in the past, but is re-incarnated in a Soul lineage every so many generations. The process of Soul Sharding is barely understood by Alorian scholars because of how difficult it actually is to very when it takes place, and because there are no clear writings or instructions on how to categorize them. The process has however been described as Aloria's own native version of possession, even if the strictest of understanding of possession doesn't apply to the Soul Sharded individuals. They are after all born in their natural state, the Soul Sharding is part of their Soul and cannot be separated from their physical being without killing them. The abilities and traits gained from Soul Sharding cannot be blocked out or disrupted by any Void or Exist block based ability, because the powers come from Binral's own Primal Essences (which the world of Aloria is in). A number of tables on this page use our Power Type classifications, a legend is provided below for easier understanding.

  • Passive = A Power that exists in the wielder or user at all times, and cannot be turned off. Passives in general cannot be countered or blocked.
  • Beast Transformation = A Power that turns the user into a Beast type Character. A Beast Transformation cannot be forcibly reverted, only prevented as an Instant Ability.
  • Mythic Transformation = A power that turns the user into a Mythic type Character. Mythic Transformations have no counters or stopping mechanics generally speaking.
  • Instant Ability = An ability that requires no charge-up time and can be used instantly, depending on additional rules.
  • Charge Ability = An ability that requires a certain time charge up. Generally speaking every 3 seconds of charge up equates to enough time for 1 emote from the opposing party.
  • Channel Ability = An ability that requires a constant effect to be applied. Starts weak and generally gathers strength over time.
  • Mind Ability = An ability that can be either Charge or Instant, but specifically only targets the Mind of the target.
  • Reflect Ability = An ability that can only be used if certain criteria are met. Reflect Abilities can generally not be countered or cancelled.

Dragonblood Soul Shard

Acquisition/Curing

Dragonblood is a natural born state for individuals who have a Dragon Soul Shard, and as such also cannot be cured in any way. Those who are born with Dragonblood can be seen to have purple rings around their irises, though this is not applicable to the Songaskians. Dragonbloods have a cyclical birth pattern, meaning that a Dragonsoul is inherited by any random descendant that is born usually within the time span of a few years of the past reincarnation dying, with a direct lineage of heritage. Usually this means that Dragonblood passes from great grandfather to great grandson, or from grandmother to granddaughter. Dragonblood as such is gender blind, and the process seems to be truly random, meaning any of 7 siblings could be it, as long as they are born within a short time span after the previous reincarnation's death. There is a known process that can be used to repress Dragonblood status in newly born Dragonbloods. This process is called the Yellow Dragon Cult Ritual in which the Dragonblood status is repressed after a number of incantations. The side effects of this ritual however is that the subject's eyes are damaged in the process, which may lead to all kinds of eye-based disabilities. Dragonblood are individuals who descend from a long line of Dragonbloods, originating to a real Dragon who changed into a humanoid form and mixed with a humanoid (not limited to just Ailor) society and eventually also died. When they died, part of their soul carried on in their descendants, being reborn and attaching itself to the next direct descendant born closest to the last Dragonblood who died. This means thus that Dragonbloods are intrinsically of whatever race they are born, but part of their soul has a reborn element of the original Dragon's soul attached to it, granting them abilities that a normal person of their race would not have, and which would be related to the Dragon that was their original ancestor. Not all Dragons are capable of using such powerful magic to create a mortal lineage however, which is why Dragonbloods are exceedingly rare and currently only known to have come from the Feathered Dragon that was native to the Regalian Archipelago.

New Abilities/Powers

Ability Name Power Type Range Description
Dragon Form Mythic Transformation - Dragon Form transforms the Dragonsoul into a Dragon instantly. For reference of the Dragon, refer to the individual Dragon page on the Wiki.
Variance Form Beast Transformation - Variance Form allows the Dragonblood to transform or partially transform any part of their body to a Dragon form, while also varying the size there-of with the upper limit being the full Dragon Form. This means that the hands and forearms could for example be turned into Dragon-like claws, but at humanoid size.
Scale Form Beast Transformation - Scale Form allows the Dragonblood to shift their skin to Dragonscale, becoming impenetrable to cutting and slicing or piercing, but still taking blunt damage. Furthermore, their eyes also become slitted, like lizards. Lastly, they also gain a Dragon-like tail that is prehensile and strong.
Dragon Commandery Instant Ability - Dragon Commandery is the natural ability of a Dragon within their Dragon Realm of Alorian powers. This varies based on the Dragons, and exact abilities can be references on the Dragon Wiki pages.
Soul Commandery Instant Ability - Soul Commandery is the ability all Dragons have to control and fine-tune the Soul Rivers of Aloria, and affect the soul of the living and the dead as a result. This ability also allows the Dragonblood to issue commands to Witchblood, which they cannot deny or shirk away from, the very Soul Rivers forcing them to comply.
Dragontongue Passive - The Dragon Knight can speak and understand fluent Dragon Speech.

Dragon Knights

All Dragonblood are able to produce so called Dragon Knights, which borrow a portion of their power through a connection in the Soul River. Any Dragonblood can produce any number of Dragon Knights, but can only perform the ritual to grant and remove it from up close. Dragon Knights are not enslaved to their Dragonblood and have the ability to go rogue.

Dragontongue Passive - The Dragon Knight can speak and understand fluent Dragon Speech.

Aleia Soul Shard

Acquisition/Curing

Aleia is a natural born state for individuals who have a Aleia Soul Shard, and as such also cannot be cured in any way. Those who are born with Aleia can be seen to have silver luminescent rings around their irises. Aleia have a cyclical birth pattern, meaning that a Aleia is inherited by any random descendant that is born usually within the time span of a few years of the past reincarnation dying, with a direct lineage of heritage. Usually this means that Aleia passes from great grandfather to great-grandson, or from grandmother to granddaughter. Aleia as such is gender blind, and the process seems to be truly random, meaning any of 7 siblings could be it, as long as they are born within a short time span after the previous reincarnation's death. There is no known process that can be used to repress Aleia status in newly born Aleia. Aleia are born their natural bodily self, and are racially still categorized as their birth state, because Aleia only affects their physical state when they open their mind and body to allow the Exist Aleia to seep into the world around them. Aleia are sometimes also referred to as Seraphsouls, though the exact context in which this is meant is entirely unclear to modern scholars. What could be gleamed from lost Altalar scriptures is that Aleia supposedly have some sort of Seraph lineage that makes Seraph Souls present as Soul Shards in their lineage. It functions much like Dragonbloods where somewhere in the ancestry of the person, they had a Seraph ancestor who left behind a very strong effect on their lineage. This makes no historical sense since the Seraph supposedly all died in the First Void Invasion, but a Seraph theme is definitely strongly noticeable in all the traits that Aleia have that correspond to the few murals that have survived the ages. Aleia are frequently misunderstood to be Silven because of their unusual eye appearance, and suffer the same sort of detrimental attitude from the common population, even if they are absolutely not related to the Silven.

New Abilities/Powers

Ability Name Power Type Range Description
Gateway Form Mythic Transformation . Gateway Form allows the Aleia to sprout Angel-like wings. The Aleia Wings do not grant flight, but allow limited hover (half a foot off the ground) and glide capacity (when descending from a high place). These wings can be used as shields by wrapping them around the Aleia, and prevent damage on the Aleia's body, but the pain remains consistent. Gateway Form is required for all other abilities used by the Aleia.
Gateway Scourge Passive - Gateway Scourge is a passive ability that makes all melee weapons wielded by an Aleia glow with silver light. This weapon performs additional painful sensations in: Kathar, Void Silven and Vampires, on top of the damage and pain already inflicted by the weapon.
Gateway Burst Instant Ability Emote Distance Gateway Burst allows the Aleia to swing their melee weapon in a rough 45 degree cone in front of them at emote range. The further this cone travels, it becomes wider, then tapering off. Multiple individuals can be hit by this wave of silver light, which lingers on their bodies for several seconds. This light can then be used by the Aleia to perform a very fast leap mid-swing with their weapon in to the direction of one of those affected by the light, but only one can be chosen.
Gateway Heat Passive - Gateway Heat causes a passive dust or smoking effect of silver to appear from the Aleia's uncovered skin, like a very light incense, though it has no effect when inhaled and does not obscure vision.
Gateway Grasp Instant Ability Emote Distance Gateway Grasp allows the Aleia to drain an Exist Essence from a nearby Exist Silven, causing a silver flame to appear on their arm used to drain them (which can be done from a distance). This drain causes the Silven to not be able to use any Power Type classified as an ability for at least an hour, and cannot be re-drain during this period. The silver flame on the arm of the Aleia can then be cast in the direction of a target, after which a fiery whip extends from the Aleia's arm, and slashes a foe with said Exist whip. This weapon does not impart any wounds, but causes excruciating pain, as if every part of their body is on fire and being stabbed at the same time. This weapon cannot miss when cast successfully, and is only cast once before powering down. This ability cannot be stored. In order for it to be used, the Exist Silven must be drained in the roleplay or shortly before it.

Manebeast Shard

Acquisition/Curing

The Manebeast Shard is a more irregular form of Soul Sharding, that imparts a person with a Manebeast beast Soul. Manebeast Shards are often mistaken for Vampires, because they function in a very similar manner. Those that have been infected hunger to drink the blood of others Ailor (as this Shard only affects Ailor), though have none of the other Vampiric qualities. In fact, Manebeast Shards aren't even Aberrant or Void based, in fact being Primal Magic based. History has it that Manebeast Sharding dates back to the days of pre-Regalian Empire Ceardia, perhaps even as old as the earliest Ailor tribes forming during the middle years of the Allorn Empire. Scholars have speculated that the Manebeast Shard had something to do with the old Silverwolf Faith that was present in the earliest of decentralized Ailor societies, but quickly disappeared in favor of the Oldt Fayth following centuries of Ailor population growth. Smaller societies and enclaves following the old pre-civilization faiths continued to exist, but most of their history has passed into word of mouth in modern times, since Ailor could neither write during those times, nor did any real archaeological site survive the loss of Ceardia.

Manebeast Shards are irregular, meaning that while a heritage of Manebeast Sharding is necessary, sometimes the Shard can remain dormant for centuries before suddenly re-awakening in a particular generation, pass to every direct descendant of that person, before disappearing again for several centuries. It is not limited to a single shard, like Dragonblood, and any number of Shards can be produced from a single first carrier, until eventually simply no more children are born with Shards for no clear understandable reason. Manebeast Sharding cannot be cured, and consequently, the blood hunger that Manebeast Shards have cannot ever be sated or removed. Early on in life, Manebeast Shards remain very normal, until around their teenage years when the blood lust becomes more apparent. From the moment this blood lust is sated, the Manebeast Shard manifests itself properly, and the person continued to be a Manebeast Shard for the remainder of their life. Any child born from this Manebeast Shard after is then a Manebeast Shard also, until the sudden end of births. Consistently, the first Manebeast Shard is always male, but females can also be Manebeast Shards if they are daughters or granddaughters of the first Manebeast Shard.

Manebeast remain very permeated in Old Ceardian culture, part of folklore, but also legend. It is commonly said among those who keep the old beliefs alive that Manebeasts are neither evil nor good, and drink blood indiscriminately. They protect the old Silverwolf Faith, and punish those who defy the codes of Silverwolf Honor, even their own kind, but keep themselves very secretive and away from the public eye. Particularly the rise of Vampires has complicated the existence of many Manebeast, as Vampirism is often misidentified, and they are killed on sight, or murdered after Vampire curing does not work on them. Most of the Manebeast that might exist to this day, as such, live in hiding, meaning none have really been seen for decades.

For a more embellished and not necessarily accurate reading on Manebeasts, including their cultural significance, read: Manebeastlore.

Physical Changes

Manebeast Shards have some very common physical traits that they are born with. Consistently, their hair is raven black, and remains this color no matter how old they become, their hair never graying. Furthermore, their eyes have a very dark gray iris color, so dark that sometimes in dim light, it is even misidentified as solid black. Furthermore, male Manebeast Shards have a larger predisposition to more aggressive facial and hair growth, while female Manebeast Shards have more masculine body features. Manebeast Shards are on average taller than Ailor, between half and a full foot taller than the culture/racial maximum, and have sharpened canine teeth, not quite as long as Vampire teeth, but certainly out of the ordinary looking. Aside from these features, Manebeasts look very normal, which aids in their ability to meld with the common population.

Mental Changes

  • Those with a Manebeast Soul Shard are often stoic, avoiding excessive excitement or stimulation, and preferring solitude aside from those who are part of their mental pack. They are calculative, analytical, and do not like being taken by surprise, but also very prone to quick stress. Stress causes them to become aggressive, violent and prone to outbursts. Additionally, Manebeasts have a blood-lust very similar to Vampires that requires them to feed on blood (either from a person or stored). The longer they go without the blood feeding, the faster they lose control over their own composure, and might involuntarily turn into a Manebeast.
  • Manebeasts Soul Shards are capable of creating so called Bitten Manebeasts which have a lesser form of their Soul Shard while they are infected, created by a special type of bite that can only be made voluntarily by the Manebeast. This infection can be cured with any form of exorcism or cleansing Magic that would normally remove possessions. These Bitten Manebeasts additionally also have a high amount of embedded respect for the Soul Shard bearer - this is used by Manebeasts to create packs for themselves, as the Bitten will often respect their Shard’s authority, though still frequently seek the means to challenge it.
  • While the bloodlust that Manebeasts experience is far less severe than that of a Vampire, the smell of blood can still overpower them and send them into a frenzy for it. Manebeasts spend most of their lives coping with the bloodlust and how to diminish its effects while avoiding situations where they could otherwise be caught acting against their will.

Bitten Manebeasts

All Shardbeasts are capable of infecting up to two other individuals with their Beast Powers, done through a ritual bite. This bite can only be cured through exorcism, but does make the Bitten variant of the Beastshard more positively inclined (almost to the point of loyalty) to their Shard (though not mind control or complete submission). Grizzlebeast Shard

Acquisition/Curing

The Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is an ancestral therianthrope ability that grants the bearer the soul of a bear. Much like most other Soul Shards, the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is affiliated with neither Void nor Aberrant magics; it is an expression of Aloria’s most primal nature and is based in Primal Magic. However, the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is the only Soul Shard whose origin is rooted in the vast expanse North Belt. Its existence has spawned hundreds of different folk legends and its truths are veiled by centuries of reinterpreted skaldic myth and the academic rejection of “werebears” by almost every reasonable Regalian scholar. Despite the existence of Grizzlebeasts being incredibly difficult to verify, there is fact behind the stories, and the curse - or blessing, depending on who is telling the story - is whispered about as truth in the far places where modern civilization is only an echo.

The Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is highly dominant; it never lies dormant and is carried, without any interruption or option for suppression, by one child of a family’s core line. The Soul Shard can appear randomly in any of a generation’s children but tends to manifest in the strongest or most impressive of the group. Unlike other Shards, the Grizzlebeast affliction only makes itself known in the later teenage or very early adult years through sudden spurts of growth among the afflicted’s hair and musculature, regardless of gender, and a change in their personality. The child in a generation that bears the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is colloquially “bear-born” and is called the “First”; if the First does not bear or sire children, the Soul Shard ends in that line. Because of the unbroken nature of this affliction, families who still bear the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard in their lineage are often significant Velheim families or powerful Skagger warrior groups that can trace their genealogy back hundreds of years to the North Belt’s most ancient tribes. Few of these family lines remain unbroken; as a result, the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is exceedingly rare and is considered a folk legend by all serious scholars. Scholars who suggest otherwise are rejected and subject to academic ridicule.

The traditions of the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard reflect the power-driven hierarchy of cultures in the Velheim culture group. The primary bearer can infect both men and women with a lesser version of the Grizzlebeast Shard. Even though the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard does not appear in all members of a generation, it is not uncommon for the First to spread the affliction to their core family or - failing that - to choose comrades to infect and surround themselves with. Even though these groups can grow large, institutionalized persecution by the official authorities drives them to secrecy; because of this, there have been no public Grizzlebeast sightings for several decades. However, despite the scholarly rejection of them as anything other than a myth, the idea of their existence is considered a given among the Velheim; after all, above all else, the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard is physical proof of the Northern Belt’s primal connection to the Regalian Archipelago’s most ancient roots.

Physical Changes

Grizzlebeast, like other Soul Shards, bear a set of consistent physical traits. Their hair is a rich mahogany brown (which does not gray as they age) and they always have either an impressive growth of facial hair (if male) and/or a long, wild mane of hair that grows down to the shoulders unless bound or constantly trimmed. Additionally, they also have very light brown (light beige) eye colors. Their features are broad and masculine, even among the women. Grizzlebeasts are on average between half a foot and a full foot taller than their cultural maximum, and have two sharpened teeth on their lower jaw, opposite to the canines. These teeth are not so large that they would poke out like the tusks of an Orc, but certainly be visible when their mouth is open.

Mental Changes

  • Individuals who carry a Grizzlebeast Soul Shard are unequivocally boisterous. They drink the most, laugh the loudest, and fight the fiercest - they travel through life with a warrior’s energy and both lead and gather followers by force of personality. When the Grizzlebeast Soul Shard manifests, the affected individual finds themselves growing more wild and passionate - an individual who has grown up to become more reserved may find it difficult to suddenly acclimate to this forced shift in personality, and the infection may lead to an awkward sustained internal conflict.
  • Grizzlebeast Soul Shards are capable of creating so called Bitten Grizzlebeasts which have a lesser form of their Soul Shard while they are infected, created by a special type of bite that can only be made voluntarily by the Grizzlebeast. This infection can be cured with any form of exorcism or cleansing Magic that would normally remove possessions. These Bitten Grizzlebeasts additionally also have a high amount of embedded affection for the Soul Shard bearer - this is used sometimes as a method for the First to pacify rivals, and often can result in a huge amount of mental conflict and turmoil for the afflicted.
  • The Grizzlebeast is driven by a sense of passion and zeal, and cursed with emotional extremes - they can be forced involuntarily into a hybrid form if driven too far to anger, elation or another emotion, and as a result, may lose conscious control. It is often an important task of the Grizzlebeast to learn how to calm themselves before this happens, but there is a constant tug-of-war between the Grizzlebeast’s force of will and their want to release their anger or excitement. Most of the Grizzlebeasts that were killed in the past were killed because of involuntary transformation and subsequent violence. This is why most Grizzlebeasts avoid any situation where they might be aggroed in present day.

Shard Curse Passive - Grizzlebeasts are passively cursed with the constant drive to compete and struggle. Everything in their life is a competition, and they very quickly lose self-control and can involuntarily transform into a Full Beast Form when angry, upset, nervous or humiliated. Roll a /dice 1 20, with anything over 10 causing an involuntary transformation when in these emotional states.

Bitten Grizzlebeasts

All Shardbeasts are capable of infecting up to two other individuals with their Beast Powers, done through a ritual bite. This bite can only be cured through exorcism, but does make the Bitten variant of the Beastshard more positively inclined (almost to the point of loyalty) to their Shard (though not mind control or complete submission). Clawbeast Shard

Acquisition/Curing

The Clawbeast Soul Shard is an ancestral felithrope ability that grants the bearer the soul of a Jungle Stalker. Much like most other Soul Shards, the Clawbeast Soul Shard is affiliated with neither Void nor Aberrant magics; it is an expression of Aloria’s most primal nature and is based in Primal Magic. However, the Clawbeast Soul Shard is the only Soul Shard whose origin is rooted in the Vultarin Mountains and Montanian Wilderness. Its existence has spawned hundreds of different folk legends and its truths are veiled by centuries of reinterpreted Vultarin myth and the academic rejection of “werecats” by almost every reasonable Regalian scholar. Despite the existence of Clawbeasts being incredibly difficult to verify, there is fact behind the stories, and the curse - or blessing, depending on who is telling the story - is whispered about as truth in the far places where modern civilization is only an echo.

The Clawbeast Soul Shard is highly dominant; it never lies dormant and is carried, without any interruption or option for suppression, by one child of a family’s core line. The Soul Shard can appear randomly in any of a generation’s children but tends to manifest in the strongest or most impressive of the group. Unlike other Shards, the Clawbeast affliction makes itself known from birth with the growth of a cat-like tail on an otherwise normal child. This tail stays with the child until the age of 15, after which it simply falls off and shrivels, as if it was never there to begin with, after which the Shard properly manifests. At this point, the youngster has involuntary transformations into the Clawbeast, accompanied with a bloodlust similar to the Manebeasts, that lasts throughout the night when the moon is out. Around the age of 20, the Clawbeasts learn how to control their lunar urges, and no longer involuntarily change, being able to do it themselves.

The Clawbeast retain a very solitary behavior, that is often reinforced by their childhood stigma over having a cat-like tail. Clawbeasts do not enjoy long term contacts with people, which is why the lineage of a Clawbeast tends to be very chaotic. While Mane and Clawbeasts tend to have decently stable lineages through marriages, Clawbeasts tend to avoid them in favor of a history of changing partners a lot. Only the firstborn child becomes a Clawbeast in turn, and so the inheritance of Clawbeast lineage tends to go all over the place, and many Clawbeasts never know their Clawbeast parent.

Physical Changes

Clawbeast, like other Soul Shards, bear a set of consistent physical traits. Their hair is a bright platina blond (which does not gray as they age) and they always have either an impressive growth of facial hair (if male) and/or a long, wild mane of hair that grows down to the shoulders unless bound or constantly trimmed. Additionally, they also have very light green (almost lime) eye colors. Their features are broad yet agile. Clawbeasts are on average half a foot taller than their cultural maximum, and have two sharpened teeth on their upper jaw. These teeth are not so large that they would poke out like the tusks of an Orc, but certainly be visible when their mouth is open, and can even be mistaken for Vampire teeth.

Mental Changes

  • Individuals who carry a Clawbeast Soul Shard are unequivocally mischievous and solitary. They don't expose themselves to others quickly, don't establish long lasting relations or friendships unless the other person really puts themselves forward, and may frequently prank or irritate others for the sake of a quick laugh. They love playing cat and mouse games, riddles, searches and hunting games and other sorts of exhilaration of the hunt, as long as it's not too much in the spotlight.
  • Clawbeast Soul Shards are capable of creating so called Bitten Clawbeasts which have a lesser form of their Soul Shard while they are infected, created by a special type of bite that can only be made voluntarily by the Clawbeast. This infection can be cured with any form of exorcism or cleansing Magic that would normally remove possessions. These Bitten Clawbeasts however tend to be very solitary, like the Clawbeast, and can even turn against them.
  • The Clawbeast is driven by a sense of pride and thrillseeking, and cursed with emotional extremes - they can be forced involuntarily into a hybrid form if given too many impulses and seduced to a hunt, elation or another emotion, and as a result, may lose conscious control. It is often an important task of the Clawbeast to learn how to calm themselves before this happens, but there is a constant tug-of-war between the Clawbeast’s force of will and their want to have a glorious hunt, or beat some kind of beast greater than them. Most of the Clawbeasts that were killed in the past were killed because of hunts that were too great for them, taking on dangerous beasts that proved too great a challenge.

Shard Curse Passive - Clawbeasts are passively cursed with the constant drive to hunt, and the inability to obey commands or be structurally stuck in some form of hierarchy. Clawbeasts essentially have an enforced "loneliness clause", which forces them to remain lone wolves in most situations, as well as chase after prey whenever one presents itself. Clawbeasts are always compelled to seek out Grizzlebeasts and Manebeasts and try to track and hunt them down.

Trivia

  • Soul Sharding was far more prolific in centuries past, but recent wars and conflicts have extinguished a lot of lineages. There is also rumors of nefarious forces hunting those with Dragonblood in particular to disrupt the Primal flow of the world.
  • Soul Sharding is a form of immortality, but only in the strictest sense of the word. While a Soul Shard lives forever, it carries no memories and it is hard to confirm whether it even carries any amount of personality traits along with it. The immortality is as such considered a glass form of immortality without any content.
  • Soul Shards can actually be absorbed by other Soul Shard holders through a process which is not well understood. They can then re-plant the Soul Shard into another lineage if they can correctly control the Primal essences.
  • All forms of Soul Shards require a Special Permission from the Special Permission Application thread on the Forums.
  • All forms of Soul Shards subtracts (like things created by Soul Shards) require IC infection/Granting and cannot be written into backstories.
