The Baton always starts in 'Standard Style,' and can be changed once per Server Restart to 'Extended Style,' after which it will remain in 'Extended Style' until it automatically resets to Standard at Server Restart.

| Grants the user {{#simple-tooltip: Constable's Shield | The Constable is equipped with a standard-issue Klokktech shield that starts as a metal glove, that can be extended into a clear glassy tower-shield. While the Constable is holding this Shield up in front of them, they cannot be targeted by Mundane Techniques, Abilities, or Attacks. The Constable must lower the shield to attack or use any Mundane Techniques, cannot quick-lift it in response to being targeted, and they (and others) cannot attack from behind it. They are still susceptible to area-of-effect mechanics, however. While holding the Shield up, the Constable cannot move, but can link up with other Constables using this same Ability, to create an impassable Barrier. This Barrier extends two blocks out from the 'end' Constables in the line, and can be destroyed by Barrier-destroying techniques, but, this only breaks apart the link. If the link is broken, the Constables involved in it cannot link their Shields together for 60 minutes.

The State Metropolitan is the modern form of the Regalian Guard, the people tasked with enforcing Regalian Law inside city bounds.

The State Metropolitan was created at the request of the Regalian Emperor, due to the proliferation of Occult powers among the criminal class, and excessive use of force by previous iterations of the Guard. With every lawbreaker now able to sling spells at the snap of a finger, it no longer made sense to equip the Guard with heavy Steel and swords which were no longer effective, a process made obsolete by the simplest Magic attacks.

Ranks

The ranks of the State Metropolitan are as follows.

  • Commissioner: The Commissioner is the head and commander of the State Metropolitan.
  • Sergeant: Any officer directly nominated by the Commissioner, distinct but sometimes combined with internal positions like Archive, Requisitions, etc.
  • Constable: The standard rank for any service member.

There exist some additional internal task forces. Someone assigned to one of these units does not perform the normal duties of a Constable, and is only called for special situations.

  • Metropolitan Arcane Unit: Occult of 2nd Power Index and above (Mages, Arken Pacts) can be assigned to this unit. They are called on in Magically sensitive situations where their expertise may be required.
  • Further task forces may be created in the future. The Commissioner is not required to populate these task forces if they do not wish to, or if the need is not there.
