===Graelle Talea=== | ===Graelle Talea=== | ||
Graelle Talea is the capital of the Altalar nation of [[Rivaella]] and once served as a major site of trade and progress. Graelle Talea has an ancient history, going back to the apex of the Allorn Empire: the Consolidation. Graelle was originally a minor port, one of many that helped to feed the vast inland capital. But when the Wildering came, Alar Talea vanished into the jungles and much of Graelle Talea was consumed as well. But it still survived and, in the following years, thousands of Altalar streamed into the city from surrounding areas. Areas lost to the wilderness were rapidly reclaimed, and the city was able to effectively counterattack attempts by freed slaves to assault the city. Today, the city has taken on new life with the formation of the [[Successor Principalities]] as their theological capital. The city itself is vast, with thousands of Altalar inside in all castes of society as well as several other Races like the Al-Allar and Varran serving them all as the city has extensive slaving connections. The city possesses both new and ancient walls, one coming from the time of the Allorn Empire and the other from building projects to increase the city’s defensive position. A great and active warf marks the city’s coastline and is a testament to the surviving power of the Maritime Altalar who dominate the region. Inside the city, upper and lower walkways separate the rich populations from the poor in an engineering marvel left over from the time of the Allorn Empire. These walkways do meet in major areas, however, such as at the Empress' Room, the replica of the Imperial Chambers inside the now lost capital of Alar Talea, or at the Agorana, a vast marketplace where hundreds of slaves and free members of the city come together to buy and sell their wares for masters or themselves. All of this peaks into the Arcane Towers, a series of towering spires where Magic study and research takes place. | Graelle Talea is the capital of the Altalar nation of [[Ríëlla Rivaella]] and once served as a major site of trade and progress.
