Afflictions are Arcane conditions that cannot be voluntarily cured by the bearer. They range from legal and accepted to illegal and despised, depending on the Affliction in question and a particular society's opinion about it. Afflictions differ in origin. Some have a Planar association, while others do not. The lore for each Affliction can be found on its main page, linked below.
Arcane Afflictions
Bolstered by the powers of the Void, they serve their own needs first.
Arcane Afflictions are embodied by the abnormal and mystic, and are usually empowered by the Void or the Exist, or some mixture of the two. The corrupting and transformative powers of these Essences leave those Afflicted with a variety of strange powers and abilities.
Exist Afflictions
Bolstered by the powers of the Void, they serve their own needs first.
Arcane Afflictions are embodied by the abnormal and mystic, and are usually empowered by the Void or the Exist, or some mixture of the two. The corrupting and transformative powers of these Essences leave those Afflicted with a variety of strange powers and abilities.
Draconic Afflictions
They stood in stalwart opposition to the forces of the Void and Exist.
Draconic Afflictions are comprised of beings and people empowered by Dragons. These warriors act as juxtaposing powers against those of the Void and the Exist, and in practice, can curb the effects of them.
Primal Afflictions
Power gained from the world and its people's Gods.
Primal Afflictions are specifically Afflictions of the Primal Plane of Aloria, and its many Unspoken Gods. They may often have some connections to Dragons, or the Void and Exist, but are almost always rooted in powers granted by Unspoken Gods.
Ordial Afflictions
The creep of Death's influence on Aloria, unnervingly encapsulated in its living souls.
Ordials Afflictions are much rarer and even considered downright mythological compared to other types of afflictions. Empowered by the forces of Bintaar and Death itself, the Ordial afflicted work to preserve the natural cycles of life and death or further the goals of their deity.
