More actions
A fungus regularly brewed to form stews and soups by the Drowdar of Drowda, Praeter Stew Horn has the ability to weaken any who eat it raw. However, once made into Praeter Stew, it gradually grants endurance and immunity to it's raw affects, making it a very important plant in the diet of the embattled Drowdar.

History
Before the last Void Invasion, the Praeter Stew Horn grew plentifully on the mountains that would soon become apart of Drowda. As the Invasion arrived, the magical infection upon the landscape spread and affected the fungi with a weakening effect. Shortly before the Cataclysm, Drowdar arrived to the lands, drawn by it’s Void energies and in the process of exploring their landscape, came across the Preater Stew Horn. Quickly discovering it’s weakening effects yet also needing something edible, the Drowdar returned to lower points on Drowda to find a way to eat it. Adding it into soup seemed to work the best, and they realized that warming the plant stopped it’s weakening effects. Since then, the Drowdar have taken to living up in these same mountains and now cultivate the plant as a main food source. Over time, many of them have grown immune to the weakening effects of the raw fungi after years of consuming the broth.
Appearance
The Praeter Stew Horn is a grey twisted fungus in the shape of a gnarled horn coated in a thick, shell-like skin. This contains a fleshy, meaty inside with a tomato-like taste. They grow in clumps at high altitudes, often in caves or niches.
Uses and Abilities
Praeter Stew Horn contains a meaty “flesh” of an alabaster-white color beneath its shell which, when mixed with warm water and a few other ingredients forms Praeter Stew. The stew gradually provides endurance and resistance to the plant's raw affects through repetitive consumption. When eaten raw, it weakens the body for several hours until it passes through the digestive tract.
Trivia
- The shell of the Praeter is rather disgusting, but some have taken to leaving it to dry and then drawing or cutting into it to form art.
- In more recent years, the inside of the Praeter has been used to poison other plants the fauna of Drowda eat so that the Drowdar can then hunt them easier.
