Adversity is a longtime labor of the Temple of Guided Unionism’s Goddess Elia - the so-called Temple of Punching Harder, where pilgrims go to prove their worth in the face of challenges by struggling in combat against overwhelming odds. In battle, pieces of their armor and weapons fell aside, brittle chips of steel and soft curls of bronze alike, every traveler leaving behind a piece of their equipment as they fought to the Temple’s depths and showed their ultimate resolve. The monks and servants who staffed the temple swept aside these discarded pieces and stored them, hoping to someday make something of them - perhaps spare material to rejoin broken hinges, or forge nails to fix a door with. Yet, taken one day by a fey vision, the Temple’s young quartermaster seized on the box of scraps and melted it down, working for eight days and eight nights until he beat it into the shape of a cloak of glittering scales. From there it has passed from Knight to Knight down a lineage of bearers, beginning with the Viridians and ending up in the hands of the Krsnik Lothar, rumored to give its bearer a fraction of the willpower of the thousands of souls whose efforts it contains the scattered remnants of. This is a Knight Collectible, obtained as a gift from the rank-up process, for the Character Kateryna Mekrov.

Appearance
Adversity is a cloak of burnished bronze metal scales pinned to the inside of a plain gray cloak. It can be worn on either side, meaning either with the metal part or the fabric part facing outwards, for a different appearance. Though it appears heavy at first glance, in truth it is not so different from wearing a scarf: falling partway down the back, it does not quite constitute a whole cape in length, but can be comfortably thrown about the upper body.

- Do It Again: Adversity’s wearer does not tire from mundane efforts of exercise nearly as easily, able to soldier on jogs for hours longer than they would otherwise be. They take far longer to go hungry as well, able to push for weeks on a single bite of food and a single sip of water, though the effort of doing so is taxing on them all the same.
