Persistence is a shattered fragment of the shashka once wielded by Nazar Ihorovych Ihnatenko that has been affixed to the end of a ornately carved pistol as a bayonet. After a storied history of nearly-impossible victories within the Krsnik purist forces, Ihnatenko fell in glorious battle with a coven of vampires in the snow-packed hinterlands of western Krainivaya. When the rest of his order found him frozen and slashed open in the snowpack, they found the broken pieces of his sword and the remaining stub of blade and hilt buried in the heart of the tyrant Vampire who ruled the coven. Ihnatenko’s service and eventual death made him into a relatively well-known legend among the Krsnik forces, and the shattered remnants of the blade were put on display. Following the establishment of the Lothar Order under Grandmaster Lothar Tyrmont, the fragments of the sword were gifted to the Order by the Sudzhennya Chapter and a piece was distributed to each of the other chapters as a symbol of unity among the purist cause. For their part, the Émérites Chapter were given the tip of the blade and had it affixed to a finely crafted pistol as a bayonet so that Ihnatenko’s legacy and valor might continue to serve a function in more polite, dignified company. This is a Knight Collectible, obtained as a gift from the rank-up process, for the Character Jean von Rolanthe.

Appearance
Persistence is the broken off tip of a sidearm sword mounted to the end of a iron-bored pistol that is itself made from a lacquered rosewood stock and inlaid with silver wire and silver plates with Ithanian floral designs and Unionist symbolism. At the base of the handle is a golden cap etched with the Eye of Union. The bayonet blade itself retails a polished finish on the steel that is shinier than the precious metals adorning the firearm.
Permanent Mechanics
Persistence is a Unionist Collectible Legendary Artifact. As Persistence is an Artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see Artifact Page. It also provides the following Specials:
- Resonant Purity: When fired, Persistence plumes with pristine white smoke that glows with a faint light that is all but imperceptible in a well lit environment, but clearly visible in the dark. Furthermore, when fired, the blade makes a reverberant, clear hum akin to the strike of a tuning fork.
