Pre Tales

From MassiveCraft Wiki

Pre-Tales as a page informs the Players about currently ongoing flashpoints, potential storylines that progress in the world of Aloria through the interactions and impacts of Players. Pre-Tales does not strictly inform the players how to engage with these topics, but explain them in their simplest of forms so that Players have something to talk and/or speculate about them and what their motivations or actions might look like, for when Tales actually releases, and Players are open to send in Action-Reports. Tales are roleplay stories that mostly unfold on the Forums in so-called Action Reports which arrive in set periods of time detailing how the actions instructed by the Players impact the progression of the story, until an eventual outcome, which may generate benefits for their participants on the Roleplay world of Regalia itself, while also leaving a more permanent impact on the world of Aloria itself.

The Hjordi Extinction

The Hjordi Velheim, Fornoss believers native to the far frozen continent of Jorrhildr, have been locked in an eternal struggle with the Urlan who are also native to the land. The Urlan continue to march on the Hjordi, capturing settlement after settlement, and turning Hjordi into Urlan, or killing them. The Hjordi culture as it is, is at serious risk of dying out without outside help, but the situation is made more complicated by the fact that the Hjordi consider themselves the last "true" inheritors of Skagger pride, and won't easily accept outside help or to become refugees if it would bruise their ego. There are moralists in Regalia agitating for the state to save the Hjordi, but also pro-Urlan/Evolution forces who want to see what happens when the Urlan are no longer forced to deal with the dwindling Hjordi population, and can look beyond to new shores, or can develop their own culture.

The Demon Campaign

Various generals of the Regalian Marshalry under the influence of marshal Valarosta are starting to agitate for a military campaign in the Oltaran Republic, otherwise known as Respublica Slavnogo Sveta. Little to nothing is known about this land, other than the stories from the Krainivaya migrants who denounce it as an evil land ruled by Mages and Demons, and the scant Navarin refugees who proclaim the whole land is a hellish Demonic wasteland. The generals are of the opinion that Demons left to their own devices will become a problem to the Empire inevitably, or the world at large, as there are no Sihndar in Slavnovo Sveta that can fight the Demons. On the other hand, the more careful elements in the military urge caution over patriotism and pride, as literally nothing is known about this faraway land, and even less is known about its military capabilities should the Regalian state enter.

The Dwarven Plight

caption
caption

Dwarfkind has been disaffected by the events of the world, since the Dwarven-Isldar War, and the subsequent destruction of the Dwarven Empire by the Dakkar. Dwarven migrants who enter the Regalian Empire are cheated and defrauded of their wealth and technology, while the Regalian Empire benefits. Dwarves some of the poorest in society, and their native lands are holding on barely by a thread of sovereignty. There are those who agitate for the idea of protecting the Dwarves by annexing their remaining states into the Empire, but there are also those who reject the Dwarves as having stubborn selfish sentiments that pride ego over communalism. They believe the Regalian Empire already has enough secessionist subjects, even if the Dwarven pride would entertain the concept of annexation. There are those who believe the time of Dwarves is past, and should sink into history.

The Elven Sphere

caption
caption

The Finul Elves seized influence over the Tryllelande Kingdom to the north of the Regalian Empire, after a series of blunders by Regalian nobles and diplomats who tried to expand influence. The Kingdom is far from happy with the Elven presence however, which is even more alien to the local culture than the Regalian Empire would be. Tryllelande has various nobles who are still in favor of Regalian cooperation, but also many who are hateful towards Regalia for past grievances, or its general treatment of the Velheim people that live in its subject states. Many politicians in the Imperial Palace however agree: an Elven puppet state this far north of the Empire should be allowed to stand, especially since it is so far behind Regalia's defensive sea barriers, and close to important trade lines with Ellador and the lands beyond, yet there are those who are indifferent about this poor kingdom.

The Cold Rebellion

caption
caption

The Daen states have been in a so-called Cold Rebellion for several years now, not going outright to reject Imperial authority and eject all of the Empire's representatives, but they have long stopped paying their tributes and dues to the Emperor, and do not obey Regalian law. Guerillas actively flaunt Regalia's treaties with the Allorn Empire, claiming that Regalia should do more to stand up for the Ailor in Daen, and should fight the Elves instead of making peace with them. There are those in the Imperial Court who have had enough with these seperatists, wanting to crush their independent spirit once and for all with a military campaign, but there are also those who still believe in the possibility of diplomacy, despite all the obstruction from House Anahera. And yet, there are those who believe the Daen should be helped, to ignite a conflict with the Allorn they see inevitable.

The State Sanction

caption
caption

The State Sanction of Ruttgher, Torse, and Arlora is a political carte blanche, upon which any kind of moral, legal, political victory can be had. While the Princes debate on the policies, laws, and customs of these realms, public agitators have the chance to make a meaningful change. These newly established fiefs of the Empire have the chance to be ruled differently, to act as social experiments for new laws and new traditions, that might showcase a different way of living. Alternatively, these realms are in need of competent administrators and bureaucrats, allowing the wealthy and nobility to boost their own prestige or influence by appointing family members to positions, thus re-enforcing the ancien regime of the Empire onto this new land. There are also those, who believe it can be used as a linchpin to crack the influence of powerful brokers like the Iron Duke.
