Commendation Letters

From MassiveCraft Wiki

This page is mostly a placeholder for a concept description of Commendation Letters. We want to make this page better in the future, but to ensure players have at least some information, this barebones page currently exists. Letters of Commendations are basically cover-letter for other forms of communication meant to reach the Imperial Family, the Imperial Court, Emperor, or whoever is acting as regent for the Emperor in his absense. The Imperial Family received hundreds if not thousands of letters on the regular, and many of the letters never even get read by the Imperials. Ekheins (Imperial Eunuchs) read the letters before they even reach the Imperials, and they usually decide whether a letter is worth reading for the Imperials. Usually, this means they decide letters are not worth reading, unless they have extra legitimacy:

  • The more Letters of Commendation are included with a letter for the Imperial Family, the more Legitimate it is.
  • The higher the rank of the writers of these Letters of Commendation, the more Legitimate the letter is.
  • The higher the legitimacy is, the greater the chance of the letter being read, and even acted upon.
  • The more Letters of Commendation from the same family/political group/organization, the lower their value.
  • The more varied Letters of Commendation (some knights, nobles, others), the higher their value.
  • Currently only Nobles (Titled, and untitled), Knights, and those with certain Mechanics can write Letters of Commendation.

In order to write a letter to the Imperial Court, send a Ticket including a link to a Google Document (make sure that viewing is enabled) where the letter is written in full protocol in-character. Then, at the end of the letter, include all Letters of Commendation as they are given to you by the Characters involved. You may not edit Letters of Commendation, and are generally assumed not to cheat in good faith.

Letters of Commendation must always be written identifiably to the subject of the letter sent to the Imperial Family. You cannot write Letters of Commendation that are open-ended and apply to any future letter such a person will write, it must always be written for a specific letter with a specific subject matter in mind. Here below, is an example of a Letter of Commendation.

To any whom it may concern,

I, the Count of Walmington Charles of Montespierre, write this Letter of Commendation to the Baron of Wissenburgh, for his Letter pertaining the rights of the Duerrstein traders on the Shoenn River. I support his request to have their taxes increased.

With the highest regards, The Count of Walmington Charles of Montespierre
