Curing the Sanguine Curse

It has recently come to my attention that the act of curing oneself from the Sanguine Curse using an Altar of Light is no longer an option. While I do not know the exact time this occurred, I can only assume it was somewhere in the early months of 302 AC, as this was when I first begun hearing rumors of such an event. It was in the fourth month did I venture to attempt this on my own. After discovering the vampiric nature of a young concubine at the local brothel, I offered her her options, and she gladly chose the option to cure. Upon bringing the sacrament and the woman to the altar at the local Old Gods cathedral, I was fully able to confirm that, while the method I typically used to cure was still in place, the actual process of curing did not occur.

Needless to say, the woman stayed by my side throughout my experiments, and proved to be very loyal and quiet throughout the lengthy process. I kept her in my small cottage in southern Fendarfell, and while I frequented the nearby town and its library, she remained indoors and tended to my cooking and cleaning. I will not go into much detail about the way we lived during this time, as I find it very dull and hardly relevant to the topic about which I'm writing.

It took me nearly a month of research before the answer hit me like a brick. It was early one morning when I'd barely arrived at the town, did I run into an Old Gods missionary who had taken it upon himself to travel from town to town and enlighten the world around him of the glories of the Old Gods. When prompted, I idly told him of my predicament and frustration, and it was with a great glee did he inform me of his own studies on the matter. He, too, had found himself in the same predicament as me, but he had found a solution where I had not.

As I led him back to my cottage, we gently put the concubine to sleep and he began at once by cutting her open. I was alarmed, at first, until a most holy light began to glow from his hands, and it became clear at once that he was healing her.

He quickly explained to me that he couldn't heal all of her blood at once, but by using his healing light, he was able to dramatically slow the infection process. He returned to me every day for the next two weeks, and by the thirteenth day, she had been completely purged of her vampirism.

Thus concluded my study on how to cure vampirism without using an Altar of Light. While I'm certain there may be other ways to do it, I've yet to discover exactly how it may occur.
