Technological Branches are part of the Proficiency System, but more specifically dependent/required for Tech Point Buy. Each person who invests chooses one or two Branches which they are able to produce and operate, some circumstances allow more than this limit (for example, Skyborn can make things from all Branches except the Limited Branches unless they fulfill the criteria). Generally speaking, Branches limits who can make what, but operating is something anyone can do, unless the Technology was specifically designed by the Player to prevent usage without knowledge of the Branch. Some Branches are left vaguer in mechanics than others to allow room for player headcanon!
Common Technological Branches
Common Technological Branches are Technology Branches (styles of doing engineering) that are commonly available to anyone. Even though some of these styles are very thematic and regional, there is nothing stopping any character from learning one of them.
-
Steamtech is the quintessentially Regalian tech branch, used by all the Regalian engineers and sappers, using steam.
-
Klokktech is also a Regalian tech branch, but one developed as a counter-movement to foreign Clockwork, using magnets and heat.
-
Clockwork is perhaps one of the oldest tech branches alive, developed by the Skyborn and still pushed to the extremes of tech invention.
-
Azraqtech is a more sophisticated Skyborn invention, using lapis infused metals and gold engravings to create elegant and gentle designs.
-
Vaulttech is perhaps the sturdiest and heaviest branch, heavy-duty Dwarven design based on Blacksteel, Bronze, and gemsetting.
-
Zisha Clay was developed by the Sihai who preferred a more mechanical design for their engineering, based on Zisha clayware.
-
Hoplastec is a quintessentially Eronidas tech design, based on their shields and armor sets, mimicking the heavy bulwark designs.
-
Chemtech is an Allar invention, perfectly marrying chemistry and tech, by harnessing serums and injections to create movement.
-
Crystaltech is an old Meraic invention, kept alive by the Maraya after their collapse, a tech based entirely on crystal resonance and vibrations.
-
Hallowtech is a branch developed by devout Unionists with clean white porcelain paneling and golden glowing connectors.
-
Jadetech is a branch developed by the Sihai, making use of their Jade Singing abilities to create technology drawn from the jade sea.
-
Melortech is a branch developed by the Isldar, using black or bright ice crystals held together by magic, creating a fusion of magitech.
-
Arctech is a branch developed during the days of the Allorn Empire, tech of varying metal colors with coursing magic inside.
-
Aranatech is a branch of heavily spider-inspired designs, developed by the Kathar with black metals with an eerie colored glow.
-
Servotech is a branch developed by Dwarves, an opposite to Vaulttech, saving on cost and metal material by using pneumatics.
-
Nalontech is a branch developed by the Maraya, an iteration on Crystaltech that uses liquified Chrysalis to create flexible casings.
-
Teslatech is a branch developed by a multi-faith team of Ailor who tried to capture and harness the power of thunder and lightning.
-
Gothitech is a branch developed by the Wirtem people of Calemberg, invoking the shapes and arches of their grand Unionist Temples.
-
Vivitech is a branch developed by Maquixtl, neither technology nor biology exactly, with a carapace structure and circuits.
-
Doyentech is a branch developed by Ailor, that uses artificial skin covered plating to maximize the imitation of Human skin over tech.
-
Dark Metal is a branch as old as Magic itself, created when Void Magic infects metal, creating chaotic breaking shapes.
-
Necrotech is a branch developed by Machinist Cultists, created when Ordial Magic infects technology, using bone in its creation.
-
Nephiltech a branch as old as Magic itself, created when Exist Magic infects Metal, creating orderly, uniform shapes made of shining metal.
-
Bidriqtech is a branch developed by the Suvial harnessing the fire within to create glass segments held together by fiery force.
-
Godsamtro is a branch developed by devout Fornoss worshipers made of black stone, and glowing blue rune lines funneling Pagan faith.
Limited Technological Branches
Limited Technological Branches are Technology Branches (styles of doing engineering) that are limited to certain Race or Religion limitations. Only those of the appropriate criteria are able to make and operate Technology from these specific Branches. While Skyborn in theory have access to them as well, unless they fulfill the criteria, they cannot produce or operate them, only know how they are made and function.
-
Leytech is a branch that is tens of thousands of years old, based on a material created and used by Dragons for Dragon Sites. The criteria for Leytech is that the Character is a Dragon Worshiper or an Archon or a God Mage (Dragon) because the material becomes inert in anyone else's hands due to the Dragons powering it.
-
Damartech is a branch made by Neron Warrior Eronidas, particularly by the Shamans who summon the spirits of Ancestors to manifest this tech. The criteria for Damartech is that the Character is an Eronidas Draconist Faithful, as the Technology is bound by Dragon power manifesting the Spirits of the ancestors to fuel it.
-
Esratech is a branch made by Esra Technicians who are the close confidents of Al-Asir, permitted to carry their inspired designs from his workshops. The criteria for Esratech is that the Character is a Skyborn Unionist Al-Asir worshiper, as the teachers otherwise refuse to spread his holy design.
-
Theotech is a branch made by devout Unionists, that makes use of minimal physical tech that faith-generates solid holograms. The criteria for Theotech is that the Character is a Unionist, because the technology is fueled and manifests only with faith in the Everwatcher.
