Imperial Family

From MassiveCraft Wiki
(Redirected from Cedromar)

The Imperial Family is a page that explains the lineage and the individual members of the Imperial family in relation to each other, and to external entities. Each Court member has their own agenda, which are not always obvious to the outsider. First, this page will explain the Court Factions which the Princeroyals who are active within the court and politics belong to. These factions can be interacted with, and may from time to time engage in plots themselves that other members of the Regalian public can join, fight against, or agitate on the behalf of. Below is a family tree spanning back roughly 300 years showing all the Emperors, their relation to each other, and their relation to the current ruling dynasty. Several player, controlled Noble Families are also incorporated to show the relations they have acquired over the years, and their proximity to House Kade as a whole.

Factionalism

It is important to consider that even if the Kades (the current royal family) engage in factionalism, they never openly wage conflict with one another, or invite others to create wedges between them. Their family attempts to stay loyal to one another and cohesive in the face of aggression from the outside, but so long as nobody dies and everyone respects the people they are competing with, that conflict nonetheless occurs. With the absence of the Emperor since his abduction by unknown forces, the Imperial Throne has been left vacant, and the factions of the Imperial Family lobby the nobles and Assembly for support to secure it for their interests. The Factions may also prompt actions that affect society within the Regalian Empire from time to time, and court outsiders to work for them.

Factions are divided on several so called "axis", which are often binary. The first consideration is whether they are centralized (meaning, favoring crown control through direct appointment), or decentralized (meaning, allowing the assembly and nobles to mostly run the Empire themselves). Second is whether they are pro or anti Occult. It should be noted that this explicitly means the most extreme of Afflicted like Vampires and Undead, not just any Mage person. By far and large all Factions are consider magical policy a semi-settled matter, but their opinions on what should happen to Vampires, differs very much. Each Faction also has 2 quintessential Ailor cultures as supporters from within the Empire. Obviously the Empire has many more Cultures like Suvial, Eronidas, Finul and so forth, but none of them have traditionally declared for any of the factions. This is something that can change IC. Finally, each of the factions favors a type of "person" to have power in the Empire. For example the Autocrats favor royalty (themselves), while the Magntates favor wealth (Aristocrats), and the Stalwarts favor the military (Knights + soldiers). All of these traits allow players to pick their favored Faction or even Imperial family member, and keep an ear to the ground to see if this is something they want to interact with or be guided by.

Currently, the Stalwarts Faction is in control of the Crown Regency, as it recently passed to Aliandre to have this title. This means that this faction is currently in control of the Imperial Seat, and is able to impose changes to the Empire without having to lobby for it, and the other Factions are actively trying to get the Crown Regency for themselves.

Factions

The Autocrats

The Autocrats are a faction primarily invested in the central authority of the all powerful state, a unifying body with a unifying message, with the royal family at its head. In their eyes, the Crown can do no wrong, and is always the fair arbitrator in all conflicts. They thus stand for a centralized state, focus on royal power, see support among the Regal and Krainivaya of the Empire, and see reason in rehabilitating the Afflicted.

  • Dominic is the 4th brother of the Emperor, and was once a Viridian but did not complete his graduation. After the death of his mother, he disappeared from public life, though it is a not-very-well-kept secret that he is an important member of the Black Order, Regalia's secret service.
  • Amalia-Alia is the oldest full sister of the Emperor and twin sister to Cedromar. She married the famous duke von Treppewitz, and has given birth to many military leaders who followed the footsteps of their father. She is her family's perfect public relations image of a princess.
  • Henry is the oldest brother of the Emperor and most like him in temperament. He followed his brother through the foreign office and the chancellery, settling into the easy-going role of political philosopher. Many look to him for fatherly guidance in the absence of the Emperor.
  • Amaryllis is the oldest family member still around, having survived several Emperors and dating from a time long past. She is a Regald of the Imperial Court, primarily involved in making announcements and dutifully serving the other royal family members to which she carries a bastard name.

The Stalwarts

The Stalwarts are a faction primarily invested in the good security that a strong military and powerful projection of geo-politics can bring. They want to defeat Regalia's geo-political rivals, and create stability through marshal order. They stand for a decentralized state with the power vested in the people of the military, see support among the Wirtem and Breizh of the Empire, and go out of their way to be hateful to the Afflicted.

  • Aliandre is the youngest aunt of the Emperor, and a notable general of the regalian marshalry. For years, she was her husband's shadow tactician when women were not as welcome in the military, before bursting onto the scene and seizing command of many pro-military factions at court.
  • Justinian is the youngest uncle of the Emperor, and a Thousand-Blades warrior-monk (only loose affiliation with the Viridian Order). His stubborn-ness and readiness for battle is infamous within the royal family, and is one of the most militarily active members despite his advanced age.
  • Juliana is a recently graduated Aelrrigan Knight of the Sacred Hand, though she is not a mage herself. Jualiana is long held as the Emperor's favorite, inseparable from him before he disappeared (and rumored heir), she now spends her time scouring the continents for any sign of him.
  • Frederick is the second oldest son of the Emperor and held as a saint to the Evintarian Church due to his body-sharing with a Demon of ancient Urlan lineage. Frederick is immensely powerful but socially reserved and quiet, often taking lead from the other faction members.

The Transients

The Transients are a faction primarily invested in the social equity of the Empire, to turn inward and examine the injustices and unfairness that are now strife in the halls of government, and in the streets. They stand for a decentralized state with the power vested in the common people to chart their own course, see support among the Velheim and Tierravera of the Empire, and even rehabilitate or outright work with the Afflicted.

  • Raymond is the prince debonair, a wild card who has at times acted against the interests of the Imperial family by advocating for the dismissal of a whole cadre of nobles from their feudal rights. He is an agitator for republicanism and generally resents the ancient right to rule.
  • Cedromar is the God Regulus to Draconists, and spends most of his time being very far away from the court doing all kinds of unseen things. When he is around however, he irritatingly begs the question of the other courtiers 'why is this done this way?' as if to invite reflection on injustices.
  • Shelia-Manon is one of the few Mages in the royal family who has a strong desire to agitate for mage-rights. With mage-rights largely secured, her next objective is to target those caught on the margins of Occult Law, Vampires and the Undead, to make their existence less marginal.
  • Edwen is a very young idiosyncratic member of the Transient faction, that saw social injustice happen to people that her insects did not suffer, she has abandoned her bug hotels in favor of the Imperial court to agitate for more genuine social justice, not just equality laws.

The Technocrats

The Technocrats are a faction primarily invested in high standards of education, economy, and meritocracy within the Empire, leaning on the power and knowledge of the educated to lead the illiterate and ignorant masses. They stand for a centralized state with the power vested in the bureaucracy and people of intellect through meritocratic examination, see support among the Cearden and Cantaluna, and disavow the Afflicted as unsavable.

  • Constantine is generally thought of as the face and mouth of the imperial family, always acting as an impartial diplomat and the most frequently spoken to by outsiders. Behind pleasant words and smiles, others are always left wondering if his kindness is genuine, or an act of propaganda.
  • Badouin is one of the few Ivrae's, the previous royal family, that nonetheless integrated with the present royal family. He has a keen interest in naval matters of trade and mercantile, and controls one of the largest merchant shipping companies owned by the royal estates of Vixhall.
  • Eohric is one of Shelia-Manon's legalized bastards, though he holds little favor for his mother. Eohric is somewhat thought of as a black sheep of the family, as his criminal connections are well known. He frequently uses his royal law immunity to smuggle illegal artifacts and goods.
  • Daan is a distant relative who nonetheless is strongly at home in the bureaucracy and responsible to teach his siblings the good governing laws and rules of the northern Anglian lands. He is seen as a quiet and reserved technocrat through and through, praising numbers over people.

The Magnates

The Magnates are a faction primarily invested in the social politics of the good life, to live in opulence and freedom, and to create a high standard of living, not necessarily for everyone. They stand for a decentralized state with the power vested in those who have the money to make means, see support among the Ithanian and Leutz of the Empire, and even consort with the Afflicted as some kind of exciting escapade or entertainment.

  • Reinoud is the oldest son of the Emperor and could not be further removed from his father's qualities. Almost universally disliked among the other royals, he spends money like an unending waterfall and engages in court politics to pitch family members against one another for amusement.
  • Noor is the older sister of Jualiana, though the two are very different. Noor is a radical fighter for personal liberties, who wants to be freed from the chokehold of imperial politics, court etiquette, and rules imposed by others. She seeks complete personal freedom to so as she pleases.
  • Leopold is a legalized bastard son of Willem-Friso who disavowed both his father and faith, keeping only to living a life of luxury and royal privilege. Leopold is never too good for a particular bargain or deal, and always sinks to lower depths for bribery and next grift.
  • Bohemonde is another Ivrae who nonetheless joins with the Kades, one who was cursed by the Avarice Arken for his greed and turned into a Rat-Asha. Since, he has embraced his new identity, and fostered many contacts among the Asha corsair fleets to his personal benefit.

The Preachers

The Preachers are a faction primarily invested in cross-faith piety and purity, not professing their belief in one particular faith but believing that much of society has lost its way through godlessness. They stand for a centralized state with the power vested in the clergy to correct course for their lost souls, see support among the Slovenin and Aetosians of the Empire, and have purist ideals towards the Afflicted.

  • Willem-Friso is a well respected but mortally flawed High Celate of the Unionist church who is generally thought of as one of the few unfailingly kind and somewhat naive members of the royal family who always seeks the best in people and cannot accept the existence of inherent evil.
  • Glorianna is a tragic figure among the royals, as all of her children were slain by Vampires. She has since reserved what few years remain in her advanced age to further the objectives of the purism movement in the Regalian Empire through the lens of Unionist purism.
  • Tycho is the recognized bastard child of Dominic through a liaison with an unknown Vampire, making them a Vampire-Brood. Tycho nonetheless embraced religion and loyalty to society and the state, despite them often being rejected by it, to reach higher levels of virtue in enduring.
  • Ivar is the only child of Alderik, a cousin of the Emperor, who was forcibly Dread-Rebirthed into a Kathar. In response, he became a Red Hunter Archon, and initiated a religious crusade against the Infection as he calls it. Even after Caius's death, Ivar continues to fight as old believer.
