Tanking Point Buy is part of the Proficiency System. Tanking Point Buy is specifically designed to allow a character to sacrifice all offensive capabilities in favor of superior defense, and supporting allies. As a result, Tanking Point Buy only allows the use of a shield, it in fact requires one. Tanking Point Buy Abilities require the Stance Ability provided for free as soon as a single Point Buy Pack is purchased from this selection.
Ability Aesthetics
Tanking Point Buy operates under "Open Aesthetics" rules. What this means is, Tanking Point Buy can be freely used with the following guidelines and suggestions: shields, bucklers, bracers, large melee weapons, armored body parts, etc. This list is mostly comprehensive, but we accept suggestions for additions, within reason to the setting. Alternatively, this Proficiency can be re-flavored as Magic. This Aesthetic Flavor has no effect on Ability functionality, but might alter if your Character is considered Occult or not. You decide when you use the Ability if it is Magic or not, and can choose to use it as Non-Magic, but you cannot choose in the moment if your Character is Occult or not Occult.
Stance Ability
The Tanking Stance Stance Ability is required for all Tanking Point Buy Abilities. This Ability cannot be point bought, but is included for free as long as at least one Tanking Point Buy Pack has been purchased. This Ability does not do much besides enable further Tanking Abilities, while adding some baseline buffs. As a general ground rule. Stances cannot be Countered, Prevented, Cancelled, or interrupted in any way. Please note, if your character has this Stance Ability, they cannot acquire any other Stance Abilities, regardless of their source.

You can enter Tank Stance without using an Action, but ending it requires one. Tank Stance confers the following benefits and limitations: You cannot use Abilities from Melee Point Buy. Your Defense Stat from Proficiencies is 7, not 5. You cannot have the Brittle Status Effect applied to you. You cannot deal Damage to Enemies through Attacks or Abilities, but you gain a new Basic Attack that targets allies in Melee Range. When you use this on an Ally, the next time they would roll Defense, you do it for them, as if you were the one being attacked, and if you fail, reduce the Damage you would take for them by -1HP (never to 0). Tank Stance has an indefinite duration, until ended by you, or until combat is over.
