Aloria wouldn’t be a living breathing world if within that breath there weren’t hundreds of bacteria and germs. The Afflictions generated from these creatures, whether formed of their accord in controlled surroundings, or with a bit of help from Magic, all hold adverse effects which they impart onto hapless victims. In recent years, the number of these afflictions has grown, as has the damage they can cause. While some are curable, others are not, which presents a looming threat to the Alorian populace.
Mundane Afflictions
"Only a cough" can quickly turn into the world's deadliest plague
Mundane Afflictions are easily caught diseases that tend to spread quickly. Some are more hazardous than others, typically resulting in an untimely death or a weakened body after they are through with their victim. The vast majority, however, have been commonplace in the lives of the denizens of Aloria. Most of these illnesses can also trace their origin back to the humid continent of Daen or animal races such as the Dargon.
Irregular Afflictions
They were freaks, for certain; but then again, aren't we all?
Irregular Afflictions are those usually related to strange magic or artificially deriving from the practice of alchemy. Whether the result of some mystical law of the Alorian world or by careless alchemists, these illnesses are renowned for their unique methods of spreading and by the highly irregular symptoms that they cause. While they number far less than mundane illnesses, the amount of irregular illnesses will probably grow as the race for new creations increases between the different nations and peoples of Aloria.
Vampirism
Creatures of the night, holy man's blight
Vampirism, also known as the Sanguine Curse, is a Void-spawned blood-curse that has plagued Aloria for hundreds of years. Often seen as a disease and hated by most of the people of Aloria, this affliction causes the infected to undergo both physical and mental transformations. The telltale signs of the Vampire Bloodlines are always the same, including a lust for blood, and elongated canines. Vampires seek to destabilize the ruling authorities of Aloria to establish a global anarchy in which they can feed on the blood of the weak without fear of prosecution.
