Aloria wouldn’t be a living breathing world if within that breath there weren’t hundreds of bacteria and germs. The Afflictions generated from these creatures, whether formed of their accord in controlled surroundings, or with a bit of help from Magic, all hold adverse effects which they impart onto hapless victims. In recent years, the number of these afflictions has grown, as has the damage they can cause. While some are curable, others are not, which presents a looming threat to the Alorian populace.
Mundane Afflictions
"Only a cough" can quickly turn into the world's deadliest plague
Mundane Afflictions are easily caught diseases that tend to spread quickly. Some are more hazardous than others, typically resulting in an untimely death or a weakened body after they are through with their victim. The vast majority, however, have been commonplace in the lives of the denizens of Aloria. Most of these illnesses can also trace their origin back to the humid continent of Daen or animal Races such as the Asha.
Arcane Afflictions
Bolstered by the powers of the Void, they serve their own needs first.
Arcane Afflictions are embodied by the abnormal and mystic, and are usually empowered by the Void or the Exist, or some mixture of the two. The corrupting and transformative powers of these Essences leave those Afflicted with a variety of strange powers and abilities.
Primal Afflictions
They stood in stalwart opposition to the forces of the Void and Exist.
Primal Afflictions are comprised of beings and people empowered by the Primal, and by extent, the Draconic. These warriors act as juxtaposing powers against those of the Void and the Exist, and in practice, can curb the effects of them.
Ordial Afflictions
The creep of Death's influence on Aloria, unnervingly encapsulated in its living souls.
Ordials Afflictions are much rarer and even considered downright mythological compared to other types of afflictions. Empowered by the forces of Bintaar and Death itself, the Ordial afflicted work to preserve the natural cycles of life and death or further the goals of their deity.
