The Dimensions of Aloria are often poorly understood by the common man, if they even know of them at all. Infinite and terrifying in their power and potential, these external sources of energy have impacted Aloria and beyond at various points across its history. Separating them all from each other in the Veil, a force that keeps all of the Dimensions separate, but one that is not eternally strong. Over the centuries, it has been torn, poked through, and peered into by many, to varying results, which has seen Magic and more enter into the physical Dimension of Binral.
The Void is often seen as a dark, horrifying place, lacking sensation and instead being just as its name implies, a void of nothing. Those who enter it are lost, their bodies consumed with only their minds to swirl amidst the raw, primordial chaos. The Void has had the most obvious and devastating impact on Aloria though the existence of the Void Cycle, whose repetitions seem to have finally come to an end thanks to various events that have occured in Aloria since the start of the fourth century. As for the power derived from the Void, its Essence is a corrupting force that seeks to enhance or transform the physical aspects of an individual’s body, typically to a more menacing, hostile or malicious variant. Its mutated variants, be they plant, animal, or sentient Races are often developed for one purpose alone: to kill, consume, or destroy in some way -- be it directly through violence and outward physical force, or a more manipulative, coercive corruption of a person or society. The Void has long corrupted and impacted Aloria through this process, be it with each Void Invasion bringing a surge of mutated and mindless creatures bent on carrying out the collective will of the Void, or of the actively prevalent Sanguine Curse. However, the Void is not all powerful, as the Kathar, perhaps its greatest disciples, long ago detached themselves from service to it -- instead utilising it to bolster their own worldly goals.
The Exist is commonly viewed as a majestic, beautiful place, filled with lovely physical sensation and wondrous, white clouds. However, the truth is far more complex. Indeed, the Exist is a place of sensation, but very bodily, oppressive sensation as it crushes in on one’s body, assaulting from all sides with emotional and physical feelings that completely overwhelm an individual. Unlike the Void, whose presence has been obvious and continuous across Alorian history, the Exist’s influence is a bit harder to trace. In the modern day though, while it is commonly associated with the concept of “good” as a result of being an antithesis to the Void viewed as “evil”, the Exist has been behind some very destructive acts, such as its power being wielded by Estel who returned in 304 AC, and for causing the Anglian Mist Crisis. As for its powers, its Essence tends to corrupt and enhance the body much like the Void, but in a more “beautiful” or “ethereal” way, not seeking to make a creature designed at killing, so much as one designed to exude grace, beauty and ‘light’ to oppose the Void’s ‘darkness’. This isn’t exactly the trend followed by the Shattered Curse, which has resulted in more Beast-aligned beings The Exist is most commonly known by the Cielothar, who believe it was the original source of all Magic in Aloria.
The Aether, being a Dimension known to the distant Sihai and those who study their ways, is a curiosity to many in Aloria alongside its dichotomy, the Naether. It is said to be a world of green mist that one must slog through, as it weighs down the body and keeps one sluggish and docile. Further information on it is fairly generalized, but most suspect that the Aether suppresses and dulls the mind into inaction, isolating the individual and keeping them locked into the same, small place they exist in. The Aether has rarely interacted with the Sihai, but its disruption has caused The Naether Aetherium, an unnatural and seemingly endless stream of polluting Essence out into the southern lands of Dexai. The Southern Well, as it is called, has yet to be closed, and so the mindless horrors that it births endlessly emerge and attack the defenses of the Sihai Empire.
The Naether, being a Dimension known to the distant Sihai and those who study their ways and Dimenthism as a whole, is a curiosity to many in Aloria alongside its dichotomy, the Aether. It is said to be a world of sharpness, of pale yellow crystalline structures endlessly shifting and morphing, causing anyone who enters it to become trapped and gradually lost as their body is divided up infinitely within the evershifting prisms with which the Dimension is constructed. Further information on it is fairly generalized, but most suspect that the Naether panics the mind and body, forcing it to consider so many things at once that it gradually breaks apart into multiple fragments much like the body, endlessly trying to grapple with singular concepts over and over again. The Naether has rarely interacted with the Sihai, but its disruption has caused The Naether Aetherium, an unnatural and seemingly endless stream of polluting Essence out into the southern lands of Dexai. The Southern Well, as it is called, has yet to be closed, and so the mindless horrors that it births endlessly emerge and attack the defenses of the Sihai Empire.
Few in Aloria consider their own Dimension “just another Dimension.” However, some dimenthism experts claim to have a theory that Aloria finds itself in just another Dimension out of countless other Dimensions (even if many religious figures would claim Aloria is the true original dimension and the source for all). They generally perceive the world of Aloria to exist in a realm called Binral, which refers to an old Seraph word for “The Living”. They equally theorize that much like the Void having a mirror reflection of the Exist and the Aether having a mirror reflection in the Naether, that Binral also has a reflected Dimension. This Dimension is cautiously called Bintaar after the Seraph word for “The Dead”. The theory maintains that while Binral is the realm of the living, because its main themes are the cycle of rebirth, life and death, that the Dimension of Bintaar is a mirror plane of existence where there is only death and decay in equal opposite reaction to Binral. The existence of this plane has however never been proven, and attempts to communicate or open the Veil to it have been unsuccessful. As such, the concept of its existence remains pure theory among the most crackpot of scholars.
