Mounts

Aloria is filled with animals, advanced machines, and more which have been turned to the needs of various Races and Cultures. Many originate in one corner of the world and spread, while others remained either by temperament and technical skill within the group who originated the method of transportations. Mounts are also often beloved and respected by those who make use of them, for they carry or heave burdens, can break down or be injured doing amazing feats for their owners, or bond with both the young and old. OOC Note: Mounts are purely an aesthetic part of the lore and cannot play any decisive role in Progression Events or IG Combat RP. Aesthetic flourishes in combat, such as an animal hissing, flapping their wings, etc. are allowed, but emoting attacks, highly advanced actions, or instant escapes by the Mounts is not allowed unless someone has the proper Mounted Point Buy Pack for those actions. The City of Regalia additionally does not support the presence of all Mounts, either due to size on the part of the animal, or due to the urban sprawl of an environment spooking or causing issues with some of the more unique Mounts. Please think logically regarding these elements. We hope you enjoy discussing a Mount your character might possess, and the stories you come up with involving their experiences together.

Ailor Mounts

The Ailor Race has, unlike any other before them, diversified and spread across Aloria, encountering a range of useful animals. Some are bred from existing creatures, and others are found and brought into the limelight. Others still have a mysterious origin, but regardless, they all serve the purposes of the many Cultures who make up the Ailor tapestry.

  • Heerstepper: This equine is a large, robust black horse which has shrugged in the face of intimidation for decades. It was originally a Mount of the Wirtemcaller Kingdom, but spread when the remains of that state were absorbed by Regalia. The horse is largely ridden by the Wirtem and Regal Ailor.
  • Stadder Horse: This horse was formerly only used for plowing as an Anglian staple animal, spreading to nearby regions, but the rise of the Regalian Empire saw a need to diversify the steed for uses beyond the farm fields. The horse is largely ridden by the Anglian, Cearden, Gallovian, and Breizh Ailor.
  • Gôdive Horse: This horse was bred into a graceful, white-coated steed by the Ithanian Ailor as an exemplar of physical beauty. Alongside its slim form and white coat, its mane is made up of blonde, reflective hairs and boundless blue eyes. The horse is largely ridden by the Ithanian Ailor.
  • Janita Horse: This equine was bred for stamina, capable of sustaining long gallops, and built with an athletic, lithe frame. Its coat is brown or a spotted brown, and it is the most popular breed of race horse in Aloria. The horse is largely ridden by the Daendroque and Aetosian Ailor.
  • Eskøy Horse: Thriving in northern climates, this large, white horse has a thick woolen coat like that of a sheep. It plows through the snowy climates it is commonly found in on large hooves, and tends to stand out when found beyond the northern regions of the world. The horse is largely ridden by the Velheim Ailor.
  • Pannor Horse: This horse has some truly unique visual traits, its dark-toned coat matched by black tusks which emerge from the animal’s mouth. It also has a temper, and is known to attack strangers, so newtime riders should be wary. This horse is largely ridden by the Krainivaya, Întuneric and Szabadok Ailor.
  • Cheval du Ciel: This is an athletic, winged horse well known for its long tail hairs and nimble elegance. Its ability to fly has made it a spectacular steed for many, with those of Ithania evolving an entire order of Knights capable of riding atop them, and many others also seeing the benefit. While once only able to be ridden by the Ithanian Ailor, the horse is now open to more parties, but largely still remains in Ailor hands. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Elven Mounts

The Elves ruled one of the greatest civilizations in Aloria for millennia, but as the Allorn Empire began to decay, their existing diversity only expanded. While even before the fall of the Allorn there were a number of Mounts to convey the Teledden, Solvaan, Suvial and Fin’ullen across the world, the emergence of many new Races meant many new approaches to the art of taming and riding. Today, these many animals and constructs pepper the western parts of Aloria, where most Elves and Elf-positive populations dwell.

  • Ulaan-Shiraal: This unique creature is a slender and lithe deer-like horse with elegantly curled antlers and long tail hairs. It has long been a symbol of nobility, grace and the natural world, thriving during the days of the Allorn Empire and able to survive to the modern day. This animal is largely ridden by the Teledden and Lanlath. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Elysian: A blend of mammalian, reptilian, and avian traits, this highly intelligent creature has haunted the misty mountains of what is now Solleria for a long time. As a result, it was tamed by the native Elves generations ago. The bird is largely ridden by the Solvaan. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Qomond: This peculiar creature has the startling appearance of a shark head and fin fused onto the body of a lion, mane and all. Only semi-aquatic, and even then only at young ages, the Qomond’s greatest strength is its fearsome size and reputation. The animal is largely ridden by the Fin’ullen. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Dirrin Reptile: Ironically not a reptile, this large orange and white salamander is best known for how, despite its large size, it can walk along vertical surfaces. It is one of the few animals not wiped out in the Void-outs unleashed by the Dread Kathar upon the Suvial. The animal is largely ridden by the Suvial. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Mantavaar: These tiger-like felines represent the unique control of Genos the Maquixtl have over their animal population. While feline in most traits, a humanoid face marks them out as starkly different to other Mounts, and they evolve minor visual traits through feeding on different foods. The animal is only ridden by the Maquixtl. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Silat Wolf: A less Genos-altered Mount of the Maquixtl, this large, but still smaller-than-a-horse species of wolf are known for their silvery fur, and for possessing traits more akin to a fox. They are also said to be very loyal, even fighting to defend their riders should they grow trapped or injured. The animal is largely ridden by the Maquixtl. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Evjer: This large animal is a polar bear-like mustelid with stark white fur and agile movement. Native to the far northern lands of Ellador, it was found and tamed by the Isldar, and still survives in their divided populations. The animal is only ridden by the Isldar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Marrack Ravager: This large reptile is a fierce Mount, with a love of blood and battle. Once smaller and isolated on a small section of land, the Kathar took these animals and twisted them into the savage creatures known today. The animal is only ridden by the Kathar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Qilkar: This beast is made of many elements that allow it to stand out, from a long sleek neck, to long narrow legs in the formation of a bat’s, to a powerful leap which can carry it through the air. While it cannot fly, the Qilkar is still a fearsome creature to find falling down on someone from above. The animal is only ridden by the Sihndar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Drowdan Stag: This large cervid is covered in unique bioluminescent patches that match the color of its deep blue or dark purple coat of hair. It is also well known for its large solid antlers, which often help shield its rider as it rushes through the wilds of Drowda and beyond. The animal is only ridden by the Sihndar.
  • Elfaar: This unique Mount is a horse-sized construct of Magic and plant matter that has come to life. Its origins are unclear, but its beauty and one-of-a-kind appearance often leave a strong impression. The construct is only ridden by the Yanar. For more information on the Mount, click HERE.
  • Neefaar: This being stands tall above all other Mounts, with a humanoid form and history closely tied to the Yanar. Divided between two subspecies, one corrupted by the Kathar and the other free of that affiliation, this giant, tree-like feminine being can be ridden into battle and used to transport others. The being is largely ridden by the Yanar. For more information on the being, click HERE.
  • Ellon-Wing: This ethereal creature has been the Mount of many great Mages and Archmages over millennia with the Allorn Empire. A flying magical manta ray that soars through the sky on trails of stardust, the fall of the Allorn Empire and diversification of the Elven world has seen it grow more common, but often remain the Mount of the elite or upper class of wherever it is found. The animal can only be ridden by Elves and the Yanar, though it is not common among the Isldar or Maquixtl. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Wyvern: Perhaps the most spoken of Mount in Aloria, this large flying reptile has a close association with the Dragons and is well known as a direct creation. With a long neck and two tails, these creatures exist in populations across Aloria, but those among the Elves are with the Isldar and Maquixtl. Only these two Races, and the Sihai, can ride Wyverns. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Other Races

The Ailor and Elves are not the only Races to have Mounts for transportation. Some have served Races as old, if not older, than the Elves and Ailor, while others are just newly tamed and ridden in the grand scales of time at work in the world. Many more are constructs of machine or elements, but all are just as unique as the methods of conveyance used by the prior two categories.

Sihai

  • Anui Lion: This robust lion with a heavily curled mane and black fur stands out even in the homeland of the Sihai. A distant cousin to the similarly curly-haired Poukuan, this large feline is a respected companion of Sihai warriors and common folk. The animal is only ridden by the Sihai. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Baente: This large bird was domesticated by the Sihai migrants to the islands they now call home. While briefly under threat of going extinct, even in domesticated surroundings, they now thrive, but are often only available to nobles and the most respected of their society. The animal is only ridden by the Sihai. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Khunma: With a fearsome face, these mammalian reptiles are thought to have close ties to Dragons, but such connections purely lay in the myths and fables of the Sihai. They are a sight as common as the Anui Lion on the Jade Wall, and are commonly a feature of Sihai communities abroad. The animal is only ridden by the Sihai. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Wyvern: Perhaps the most spoken of Mount in Aloria, this large flying reptile has a close association with the Dragons and is well known as a direct creation. With a long neck and two tails, these creatures exist in populations across Aloria, including in Jadeheart, the land of the Sihai. Only the Sihai, Isldar and Maquixtl can ride Wyverns. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Dwarf

  • Vlomm Mole: One of the largest rodents in Aloria, this burrowing mole is naturally armored with thick, rough plates along the front of its body. It has been part of Dwarven society for millennia, and now digs its tunnels in foreign lands, while also still helping the Dwarves of Ellador fend off their Dakkar foe. The animal is only ridden by the Dwarves. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Morrok: This giant bird is the polar opposite to the Vlomm Mole, being found high in the Ellador skies and tamed by the ancient Dwarves in days long gone. A grumpy, temperamental species, these ariel titans are known to carry Dwarven cargo or Dwarven passenger pods across the lands of the Dwarves or those who harbor the short Race. The animal is only piloted by Dwarves, and others may ride in the transport cages. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Steamtech Stoneshredder: A large Steamtech construct made up of three huge grinding wheels, it is capable of breaking through many obstructions, from minerals in a tunnel, to wood in a forest or as part of a defense. While many were lost in the fall of the Dwarven Empire, new, and better constructs have been created thanks to outside materials. The construct is only ridden by the Dwarves.

Asha

  • Seqherat: This subspecies of Giant Scorpion has been a Mount to the Asha for millennia, but the fall of their empire saw the animal nearly rendered extinct. However, the Asha are reborn following the collapse of the Allorn Empire and this animal now scuttles openly through the dune with Asha proudly sitting on their backs. The animal is only ridden by the Asha. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Mehtil: The rebirth of the Asha people has meant many have embraced their newfound abundance of Living Metal, and some have so mastered it to transform their supply into imitations of other Mounts. These constructs, of thin mesh and detail-less shape, are alien to perceive but unique to beyond. The construct is only ridden by the Asha.
  • Dew'enet: In the same vein as Mehtil Mounts, this construct is a raw alternative form of transportation for the Asha meant to convey awe and perhaps even fear. A hovering amalgam of Living Metal tentacles and tendrils, it is capable of absorbing metal to neutralize threats. The construct is only ridden by the Asha.

Qadir

  • Bakhshuna Jamal: A large mammal of the Farahdeen desert, this animal is built to survive the harsh climate, with a hump of fat, a third eyelid, and specially built feet for walking on the sand. While the Qadir have largely turned to machinery for transportation, these animals are always on hand for travel, especially into the worst regions of deserts where sand might damage machines, or magical essences might corrupt mechanisms. The animal is largely ridden by the Qadir.
  • Clockwork Charger: In general, the Qadir produce their own Mounts for transport across the sands of their homeland and out in the wider world. This machine specifically resembles long-legged rams, capable of striding with great speed over rough terrain, and bashing into foes. The construct is only ridden by the Qadir.
  • Clockwork Centiskuttler: In general, the Qadir produce their own Mounts for transport across the sands of their homeland and out in the wider world. The largest of these resembles a large centipede capable of carrying passengers within it, with built-in Firearm ports for defense at ranged distances. The construct is only piloted by the Qadir though others may ride within it.

Songaskia

  • Maaris Cobra: This large species of cobra was a great pest to the Qadir, only for the Songaskia to tame them for use in combat. Able to carry a rider on their hood, they slide through the deserts of Farahdeen and are a fearsome tool of the Songaskia on the battlefield. The animal is only ridden by the Songaskia. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Felipipi: A creature with feline and canine attributes, this animal yet another threat to the Qadir that the Songaskia conquered, and turned toward their own ends. It possesses a prominent hollow horn upon its head that can put people to sleep, and so these objects are sought by collectors, musicians and more for various purposes. The Songaskia often use them for amusement, or battle, as they are still fierce animals. The animal is only ridden by the Songaskia. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Finbasa: A less popular Mount to the Songaskia, this heavily scaled reptile has a prominent horn on its snout, and other spikes along its form. Its origin is unclear, but it loves sand, requiring bathes of the substance when living away from Farahdeen. It is often a Mount of travelers or traders rather than warriors due to its slower speed, and its survivalist physical features. The animal is largely ridden by the Songaskia.

Eronidas

  • Aaltaar Bok: While often considered just cattle in Eronidas land, this bison-like bovine is a powerful Mount, capable of charging down foes on the battlefield. One would never know it to look at them grazing in a field however, as they can be surprisingly tranquil when not roused. They are most commonly found used by Estate levies, and poorer members of Eronidas society. The animal is only ridden by the Eronidas. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Barroth: Large reptilian-swine-like creatures, these Mounts have been ridden for many millennia by the Eronidas. They are also known for their iron stomachs, and even exist in an agricultural context among the Maquixtl, who have extracted their Genos. However, they do not ride them, as the animal is only ridden by the Eronidas. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Jakpiriĝ: This beast is considered a symbol of protection in Eronidas society, originating from the harsh lands of Kezzeret Sabu. A feline with sharp avian features, it is often ridden by warriors native to that region, and has great tenacity defending its rider in the field. The animal is only ridden by the Eronidas. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Makk-Shield: This flying shield, carved with symbols of the Eronidas and words of blessing and incantation, is upheld by the floating spirits of deceased Eronidas warriors. While their society states these are an individual’s ancestors come to aid them in travel and on the battlefield, some believe the object is simply possessed by Shades from the Ordial plane, with no relations to the bearer. None may test these theories, as separating an Eronidas from their Makk-Shield would be a death sentence for the thief. The construct is only ridden by the Eronidas.

Allar & Slizzar

  • Two-Claw Raptor: This large reptilian predator stalks its prey though many terrains and kills with distinctive claws. Originally native to the distant homeland of the Allar, it was feared by Regalians during the Chrysant War. The animal has become more common as relations with the Allar have rapidly normalized. The animal is largely ridden by the Allar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Qarresh: Elegant and alien, this large obsidian-like hovering cube can shapeshift to appear like other Mounts, greatly aiding in a Slizzar’s infiltration. Strange technology likely originating from the Dragons, these unique boxes have great personal depth and can be true companions to any Slizzar no matter how many times they change their form. The animal is only ridden by the Slizzar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Satrap: Similar to the Two-Claw Raptor, members of this feathered reptilian species fled with those Allar seeking to avoid Void Worship, and became known to the rest of Aloria. A rarer Mount, capable of flight and spouting water from its beak in powerful blasts, this large animal is a beautiful creature and one the Allar have a great deal of cultural respect for. The animal is largely ridden by the Allar. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Urlan

  • Erker: Savage and strange to behold, these ram-like beasts were turned into Mounts for the Urlan, and are often considered a sort of distant cousin due to shared traits. With tusks and many more horns than its head seems capable of bearing, it often startles and intimidates without much effort, the perfect effect for a Race of hunters. The animal is only ridden by the Urlan. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Silvershale: While the Frosthorn haunt the caverns and lowlands of Jorrhildr, as well as other hostile northern lands, this white, tusked, gorilla-like beast instead thrives at the higher mountain altitudes. It is highly intelligent, and has been known to rampage on their own when separated from their rider in battle. The animal is only ridden by the Urlan. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Maraya

  • Elmin: With a deceptive appearance, this horse-shaped animal is actually a giant wingless moth, complete with the insect face. Sure to trigger any lepidopterophobe, it is a respected and loved animal by the Maraya who tend it, and is part of the reason the Race continues to be associated with insect imagery and language. The animal is only ridden by the Maraya. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • To-Solar-Ohm: The advanced technology of the Maraya also grants them use of such devices for their locomotion. A greatly reduced offering compared to their Mechsuits and other larger creations, this flying disk of Crystaltech or Nalontech smoothly soars its rider through the air. It can also cross great distances, and secures the feet of its user so they are not easily knocked off. The construct is only ridden by the Maraya.

Bralona

  • Heraln: The lands of the Bralona are alien and strange from all descriptions by outsiders, for all forms of animal life native to the region are Matter Forms. These beings of metallic or slime cover the region, and among them dwells this creature, a wading bird-like Matter Form whose beak can narrow into a stabbing implement on command by the Bralona who ride them. The creature is only ridden by the Bralona. For more information on the animal, click HERE.
  • Somdolna: The lands of the Bralona are alien and strange from all descriptions by outsiders, for all forms of animal life native to the region are Matter Forms. These beings of metallic or slime cover the region, and among them dwells this creature, an avian Matter Form with an aerial and ground stance, capable of belting out hypersonic shrieks capable of blowing back opponents. The creature is only ridden by the Bralona. For more information on the animal, click HERE.

Trivia

  • The high number of meshed animals, specifically felines to other species, which exist in the west are believed to be the work of the Dragons.
  • Some like to joke that while dogs are a friend to man, cats are a friend to Elves and Sihai given their pension for large feline Mounts.
  • The near sentience of several Mounts is a point of concern for some, particularly in the realms of the Regalian Empire, who feel riding creatures of such intelligence is cruel or unusual. However, as the topic of sentience is hotly contested in the scholarly community, it is unlikely to effect any changes in the near future.
