Hati Emas, in its dormant state, appears like a slightly tapered rod of solid gold. Beyond this, it has no distinctive properties. Despite appearing like gold, it’s weighter and sturdier than true gold, and won’t melt even if left in a crucible for hours on end. It always feels slightly warm to the touch. When empowered, this artifact can shapeshift into whatever shape its wielder desires. Although the shape it takes doesn’t have to be solid gold like its dormant state, and can include materials such as wood or leather, any metal in its final transformation always looks like gold.

Hati Emas
Artifacts
NameHati Emas
OriginArken of Avarice
TierRare Tier III
TypeWeapon

Hati Emas is a pact weapon, created by the Avarice Arken for a pact struck with Matahari, one of his many children. It’s a newly forged artifact, one of a kind, whose history starts in the hands of a golden-eyed bandit.

Appearance

Hati Emas, in its dormant state, appears like a slightly tapered rod of solid gold. Despite appearing like gold, it’s weightier and sturdier than true gold, and won’t melt even if left in a crucible for hours on end. It always feels slightly warm to the touch. When empowered, this artifact can shapeshift into whatever shape its wielder desires. Although the shape it takes doesn’t have to be solid gold like its dormant state, and can include materials such as wood or leather, any metal in its final transformation always looks like gold.

Artifact Mechanics

Hati Emas is a Void Magic Artifact. There are rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see the Artifact Page. Artifacts also provide Mechanics.

Permanent Mechanics

  • Hati Emas can steal artifact sparks from artifacts that have them or from people who are holding artifactless sparks. Artifact spark thieving follows the same rules and mechanics as Aelrrigans disabling artifacts: the person with the spark must be defeated in battle, or the artifact must be offered, for a spark to be stolen. Hati Emas can hold an infinite number of artifact sparks. Hati Emas is unique in that, when it gains a spark, that spark can still be cleansed out of it while the spark is still 'new'. After one week, the spark is no longer considered new, and can no longer be cleansed from the Artifact. These banked sparks are permanent. Additionally, while Hati Emas can steal artifact sparks, it can not steal artifact sparks from artifacts made by the Avarice Arken.
  • Hati Emas has a temporary existence in Aloria, and Matahari is keenly aware of this. After four months (on June 1st, 2024), the Arken of Avarice will return to recollect the artifact, and all the sparks stored within it. Something terrible will happen to Matahari (and all their loved ones) if the artifact is returned to Avarice without any sparks in it. Due to the artifact’s temporary nature, it is unable to benefit from Avarice Arkenborn Mechanic 2.
  • This is a pacted artifact, meaning it cannot be stolen out of Matahari’s hands, for it will always return to them if they lose it.

Artifactspark Mechanics

  • Hati Emas is a gluttonous weapon, whose uses increase as more magical potential is stored into its theoretically limitless vaults. As Matahari stores artifact sparks into Hati Emas, more mechanics will be unlocked. Hati Emas currently has 3 artifact sparks banked in it. 1 Artifact Spark is in the open window for capture.
  • 1 spark | Hati Emas can change its shape into whatever the wielder desires, be it a weapon such as a sword or hammer, or a tool such as a lockpick or a pickaxe. The only limit is the weilder’s imagination (but changing it into a ranged weapon does not provide free ammunition, and it cannot take on extremely complex shapes, only handheld items). Additionally, when striking somebody, Hati Emas can leave a creeping gold-curse on its victims, this is optional and the effect of whatever this gold-curse does and how it manifests should be discussed between parties. Gold-curse can always be cured with a common exorcism.
  • 2 sparks | Hati Emas can be used to duplicate artifact sparks during artifact rituals. So long as Matahari participates in an artifact spark ritual as a participant (this mechanic does not apply if the orchestrate the raid), they gain +1 artifact spark that immediately is consumed by Hati Emas. Additionally, Hati Emas is able to sense precisely how much money somebody is carrying on them, or whatever other items of monetary, physical, or emotional value they may have on them, be it in real space or pocket dimensions.
  • 3 sparks | The wielder of Hati Emas can sense what others want most in the long term or at that very moment, and use that to their advantage. Additionally, the wielder gets a +3 bonus to persuasion rolls, and another +1 bonus for every spark Hati Emas has within it after this mechanic is unlocked, up to a cap of 17. However, these bonuses only work on those who are greedy, and while every mortal has at least a nugget of greed in their heart, it may not work on other Arken, Gods, or some DM characters, and it doesn’t work on the Avarice Arken.
  • 4 sparks | Hati Emas can be used in a number of other utilitarian ways, beyond just being a weapon. It can do the following: be used to store a near-infinite amount of objects in a pocket dimension (like a bag of holding), be used as an anchor point in physical space (like an immovable rod), or be used to ‘skate’ through the air (think of sword skating or riding on a witch broom, you can use elytra and rockets for this).
  • 5 sparks | To prevent devastating backslides, the wielder of Hati Emas may sacrifice two artifact sparks to immediately remove themselves from any hostile situation, such as a battle or their artifact getting forcefully cleansed, and return them to a place of complete safety. This function can only be used once per week.
  • 10 sparks | By sacrificing an artifact spark, the wielder of Hati Emas can summon the Avarice Arken at will as if they had a Coins of Greed.
  • 30+ sparks | Once the artifact reaches this threshold, the wielder can immediately use it to call upon the Avarice Arken to come and reap his collection. The Artifact will be taken early, and in exchange, the wielder will be granted a massive, and likely permanent, boon from the Arken.
