Aulyala, Ballista of Our Lady, is the personal greatbow of Alaïaam, an Empress of the early Allorn Empire soon following Talea. It was said that the bow was once used by Alaïaam to execute a corrupt prince from a distance five days away as a horse rides merely by meditating for thirty minutes, praying, and loosing a single arrow into the endless depths of the sky. Description
Aulaya is classified as a Weapon Artifact, meaning it cannot be wielded at the same time with other Weapon Artifacts by the same owner. It is a greatbow cast in flexible silver metal which glimmers blue when light is shone upon it. Its length is decorated with etchings and brocade patterns, with Ancient Altalar runic script running alongside it. Aulaya's string is likewise made of an unbreakable, silvery metal fiber, and remains unstrung from the bow since its initial creation.
Artifact Mechanics
Artifact Mechanics are split between Permanent Mechanics, Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics. Permanent Mechanics are always available to the wielder of the Artifact. Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics are only available if the Artifact has an Artifactspark. Sparked Combat Mechanics are noted separately, because this makes them easier to find, but they are no different from Sparked Mechanics in general. For more information on Artifactsparks, read the Resources Page. For Rules on Artifact ownership, see the Artifacts Page.
Permanent Mechanics
- Aulaya allows its wielder to use the Elven Synchronicity Mechanic, which transforms them into a Teledden for as long as they hold the Artifact, also allowing them to exchange their Heritage Mechanics for Teledden Mechanics (all, or just some, at a 1:1 ratio), if they would like, though they automatically gain 3 of the 5 Teledden Mechanics of their choice for free. This does not count as a Transformation or a Disguise, the Character remains recognizable.
Sparked Mechanics
- Aulaya's wielder can choose 3 Free Packs from the following Categories: Ranger Point Buy, Deadeye Point Buy, or Magic Point Buy.
- Aulaya has a piece of Cemaan's uncorrupted Magic from the time before the Dewamenet War bequeathed to the Allorn imperial lineage, bridging the past and the present. While carrying Aulaya, the wielder can off-screen enter and exit the Allorn Empire without being stopped no matter who they are, without any records or memories of their entrance or exit being recorded anywhere, so neither Allorn nor Regalian authorities can hold it against them. Additionally, being in the presence of this Magic unlocks personality shifts in Cemaan if the wielder Divinium summons her, which unlocks additional dialogue options (only applies to Estelley worshipers).
- Aulaya is wreathed in the shielding aura of all three Estelley Empresses, who passed a piece of their Magics on to the mortal descendants who carried forward the realm. Any Mechanic that targets the wielder of Aulaya based on Heritage, Affinity, or Magical status in any way, simply does not work on them, though it still works on any other targets in the scene.
- Aulaya as an artifact of the Allorn lineage, is steeled with their resolve to survive against all odds. Aulaya grants the wielder +2 Attack Stat (breaking cap up to 11) while using Attack Emotes on any Asha including half-Asha, or Khama Worshiper. Additionally, even when not attacking Characters of these types, the wielder's Attack Dice Roll Minimum is set to 3.
Collectible Artifact
Artifacts are very cool, and make a Character super powerful. That being said, due to circumstances of Roleplay, a Character may end up holding onto an Artifact for months on end. This is generally not a problem, but we believe that Artifacts because of their uniqueness, should never be held onto in perpetuity by one Player. After a few months, it is time for the next player to be able to enjoy the artifact, and for this reason, Collectibles exist. After 120 days of non-consecutive Artifact ownership, an Artifact is automatically confiscated, and the Player who lost it is given a Collectible. Collectibles are thematically and aesthetically similar to the Artifact, meaning the loss of an Artifact does not visually detract from a Character's established design. However, they cannot hold Artifactsparks and only inherit the Permanent Mechanics from the Artifact they were generated from (including the rules limiting their use). On the other hand, Collectibles can never be stolen from their owner, a Collectible is owned forever, and there is no upper limit to the amount of Collectibles a Character can have, or wield/use at the same time. Collectibles cannot be traded in, though some Events may ask for their sacrifice, destroying the Collectible. To summarize this Artifact's Collectible properties:
- When this Artifact is exchanged for a Collectible, seeks out new hands persist the lineage, leaving behind a Highspire Longbow.
- The Highspire Longbow Collectible inherits the Permanent Mechanic of the Artifact.
- While there are several Highspire Longbows, each looks unique, though should be inspired by the Artifact.
