Melee Point Buy is part of the [[Proficiency]] System. Its Packs allow a Character to use melee weapons, and get melee weapon-related Techniques. Any learned Technique can be used on any weapon a Character knows how to use.

Weapons can be used to attack people without using their attached Abilities. We encourage dice rolls to resolve disputes when players can't figure out what to do next. Any character can use a melee weapon with at least one purchase of these Point Buy packs, with the Strength stat being used to determine overall skill. If a Character has no Strength, they are considered incapable of using a melee weapon effectively. If the user does not have the Fisticuffs Pack, or any other bonus to Unarmed, their Unarmed Combat has no effect on armored opponents.

Melee Point Buy is for fighters, warriors, and characters who utilize some manner of melee weapon, in whatever form that is (sword, spear, fists, axes, magic, etc.) Melee Point Buy has some restrictions on what Packs can be purchased, to reward specific Proficiency designs.

| Grants the user {{#simple-tooltip: Unarmed Expert| The user is trained as a professional in unarmed combat, allowing them to use their fists as weapons. The user’s unarmed strikes bypass any immunity to unarmed combat, and can allow the user to use other Techniques from the Melee Point Buy without a weapon.  
| Grants the user {{#simple-tooltip: Combat Sight | To fight with all of one’s Senses, the Blinded Status Effect, when applied to the user, works differently. Blinded now reads: The user gains +2 Attack Stat (breaks cap up to 11), but can no longer Target anyone outside of Melee Range. The user automatically has the Blinded Status Effect applied to them when Combat Begins, and cannot remove it except with Abilities that remove Status Effects. If the user would have the Blinded Status Effect applied to them again, instead of totally ignoring it, reduce the user's Attack Stat by -2 for their next Attack Emote. Combat Sight has no Cooldown.}}

The Ability and Proficiency System
This page involves the Abilities and Proficiency system, which is a core part of how Combat Roleplay and "Competitive" Roleplay works on Massivecraft. Melee Point Buy is part of the Proficiency System. Melee Point Buy is for fighters, warriors, and characters who utilize some manner of melee weapon, in whatever form that is (sword, spear, fists, axes, magic, etc.) Melee Point Buy has some restrictions on what Packs can be purchased, to reward specific Proficiency designs.

Free Packs

The following packs in this section are specifically for those that have invested a significant amount into Melee, Bruiser, or Veteran Point Buy. By purchasing at least 4 Melee, Bruiser, or Veteran packs (or a combination of the two), choose one of these Abilities to unlock for free. The other can be purchased like normal, if desired.

This Pack is for those who want to get at least one hit in on a far away opponent.
