Shielding Point Buy is part of the Proficiency System. Its packs allow a Character to use defensive items, represented by shields, crossguards, magic tomes, or other similar items or weapons. Any learned Technique can be used with any item a Character knows how to use, and can be flavored however they'd like. Shielding Point Buy includes a set of abilities designed to proactively protect the user, and their allies.
Ability Aesthetics
Shielding Point Buy operates under "Open Aesthetics" rules. What this means is, Shielding Point Buy can be freely used with the following guidelines and suggestions: shields, bucklers, bracers, large melee weapons, armored body parts, etc. This list is mostly comprehensive, but we accept suggestions for additions, within reason to the setting. Alternatively, this Proficiency can be re-flavored as Magic. This Aesthetic Flavor has no effect on Ability functionality, but might alter if your Character is considered Occult or not. You decide when you use the Ability if it is Magic or not, and can choose to use it as Non-Magic, but you cannot choose in the moment if your Character is Occult or not Occult.
Free Pack
The following packs in this section are specifically for those that have invested a significant amount into Shielding or Tanking Point Buy. By purchasing at least 4 Shielding or Tanking packs (or a combination of the two), you gain this Ability for free. It cannot be purchased normally.

Shield Taunt lasts until all Warned Status Effects applied by Shield Taunt have been removed.

For each person using Shield Phalanx in a chain, increase the bonuses by +1, but never more than +5. Shield Phalanx lasts for the rest of your current Health Stage.
