The Sooted Boots were crafted several decades ago by the members of the Grauwald Order, a group now part of the Lothar Order. Initially fairly mundane, a disastrous and fiery magical encounter inspired their former wielder to seek the protection of quiet and stealth from the most dangerous of Mages. When this operative ultimately retired, the newly formed Lothar Order held onto the Artifact until a suitable wielder presented themselves. This is a Knight Collectible, obtained as a gift from the rank-up process, for the Character Puck van der Heide .

Appearance

The Sooted Boots appear, on the surface, to be a pair of ordinary black leather boots. However, small details, such as small golden detailing to their clasps and buckles, suggest a greater purpose. While not outwardly blessed, there is almost a supernatural silence to these boots that when in action lends them the appearance of ash and soot caked on their bottom soles, only to mysteriously disappear when they are taken off. As a pair of standard Tenpenny equipment boots, this Artifact does not look out of place in any military stock warehouse or used on just about anyone, having thousands of others outwardly just like it: even if this one is special, and has qualities beyond the rest.

Permanent Mechanics

The Sooted Boots are a Lothar Collectible Legendary Artifact. As an Artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see Artifact Page. It also provides the following Specials:

  • Sooted Steps: These boots are capable of granting a wielder soft footfalls that do not leave marks behind, or make noisy scuffs against the floor. This can be used to flavor stealth sections in events or private RP, per DM discretion.
