It is said that lightning never strikes the same place twice. To the creators of Tweistak, however, such a statement is blatantly false. The story of the bow starts with a coven of Witch Archon, desperately seeking shelter from a violent thunderstorm ravaging the local’s fields of Anglian grain. Their haste to find cover led them to a small shack, nestled at the base of a hill topped with a sprawling maple tree. Unease festered in the exhausted group as they wondered if they would be caught in the destructive path of rapidly consuming fires- only for a deafening BOOM to rattle the windows of their ramshackle sanctuary. One Witch called out to the others, quickly pointing to the maple tree visible- only for a second resounding CRACK to echo with a flash of lightning. The maple’s canopy had been struck not once, but twice- only for more claps of thunder and lightning to assault the towering tree. By the end of the storm, the tree had been hit by lightning over seven times, yet still managed to stand tall in the aftermath. Awestruck, the coven took such a display of mercy and power as a sign of Regulus, whom they believed helped redirect the lightning and protect them from destruction. Years later when the tree fell, the same coven of Witch Archon sought to use the lightning-scarred maplewood to craft an extension of such a display, resulting in the artifact Tweistak.

Appearance

Tweistak is an overly-large recurve bow with a length of six and a half feet, usually having to be planted into the ground to properly fire. Its form is carved, with the ends of the riser and grip curled into almost a beak-like shape, while the bow limbs sweep into wind-like swirls. Tweistak’s wood is largely charred black and painted with cobalt accents, also sporting a small decorative cluster of redmane feathers tied to the upper bow limb. Rumor has it that firing from this weapon produces the same thunderous sound that accompanied its tree when first being struck.

Tweistak is a Primal (Dragon Magic) Artifact. As Tweistak is an artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see the Artifact Page. Tweistak also provides the following specials:

• Bonded Weapon: Tweistak is a weapon bonded to its owner, Necalli Ixehuatl, and therefore cannot be taken from them or destroyed beyond repair. Tweistak cannot leave emote range of Necalli, and will teleport back to their side if taken out of range. This does not prevent Necalli from being disarmed.
• Fulgur Quiver: Tweistak does not require any ammunition to be fired, instead capable of drawing or summoning bolts of lightning into the bow’s cradle when used. During a storm the wielder may optionally fire the bow into the clouds above, causing a bolt of lightning to immediately strike down upon their target instead. Tweistak grants its wielder Primal Enchant Magic Talent, though limits its aesthetic to lightning and storms, and additionally grants immunity to mundane electricity when wielded.
