Name Diviner’s Bane
Origin Herebrand Templars
Tier Rare Tier I
Type Weapon

The Diviner's Bane is a longsword used by the Herebrand Templars of Alexander I during the inquisition of Girobalda, which saw many followers of the Diviner Unionist Cult put to the sword, stake, and pyre until the cult was no more. This blade passed into the Herebrand order when it was founded, and has been passed between a number of Lothar before coming to rest in Anickha Mekrov’s hands.

Appearance

Diviner’s Bane is a blacksteel longsword with a golden unionist eye embedded into the cross guard and unionist scripture engraved down the blade’s fuller. No matter wear or time, the scripture will not be damaged or made illegible.

Artifact Custom Kit

Diviner’s Bane is a Primal (Unionist God Magic) Artifact. As an artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see Artifact Page. It also provides the following Specials:

  • Bound Weapon: Diviner’s Bane is a weapon bonded to its owner, Anichka Mekrov, and therefore cannot be taken from them or destroyed beyond repair. Diviner’s Bane cannot leave emote range of Anichka, and will return to her upon prayer if taken. This does not prevent Anichka from being disarmed, however.
  • Holy Flame Blade: When the scripture down the blade’s length is read aloud, a passage dedicated to fighting heresies of the faith and slaying evil wherever it lurks, the blade is ignited in holy flames. This fire is bright enough that the sword can reasonably be used in place of a torch, and the fire will ignite flammable objects if held to them for long enough. The fire doesn't warp or damage the blade, and can be extinguished by sheathing the sword.
