All things in Evolism are centered around the self and how the Gods affect that self. In its most extreme forms, Evolism prospers through the degradation and destruction of others to uplift the self, interspersed with debauchery. This pattern of extreme worship birthed a cult of Apotheon in the deepest pits of Regalia’s sewers, violent from its inception and murderously devoted to taking all that brought their envy. Such dedication would soon catch the attention of a potentially even more malicious actor and spell doom for the cult.
Evolism revolves around the self and the influence of the Gods. The extreme form of Evolism involves using debauchery and destruction to elevate oneself, leading to the creation of a cult of Apotheon in Regalia's sewers. The cult, known as the Balebloods, fell under the leadership of Motēuczōma, who was drawn to a strange being promising a bright future. The cult began transforming kidnapping victims into mutants and targeting politicians, but they were eventually defeated by Regalian Knights and freelancers. The cult's secrets, including the creation of a powerful artifact named Mazatlias, died with them.

==Origins==
==Description==
Mazatlias is tied to the Cult of the Baleblood. It was formerly a collective of Maquixtl and Fin’ullen immigrants who were networked into sewer-extremist Evolism and pan-Elvism, but in 310, it came under the leadership of a Maquixtl named Motēuczōma who would bring it in a new direction. By this point, the Balebloods had existed for nearly twenty years and were little more than a particularly fervent sewer gang. Hungry for more, their leader attempted to reach out to his Gods and to the legions of Spirits beneath them, but they didn’t answer. Instead, a strange being appeared and made great claims of a promising future among the good God Apotheon which would give them a pleasing final shape that would lead all to envy the leader. Caught by honeyed words and the transformative power of the entity, Motēuczōma began to follow it more than he did Apotheon’s own scriptures, still certain he was serving his first God. The Cult of the Baleblood moved from integrating what they found beautiful to tarnishing bodies and transforming kidnapping victims into foul mutants, eventually setting their sights on politicians. When the Cult reached too high, however, they were struck down by Regalian Knights and freelancers. Their secrets died with them, including the exact story of how a dead Motēuczōma managed to create a new Artifact. Loaded with an unfittingly mutagenic power for the Forceful Harmony, it was named Mazatlias, Unclaimed Perfection.
Mazatlias is a bone-white chain necklace with a matching case. The material is unknown but feels like fluid ivory. It features a dark purple gemstone, possibly a mutated amethyst, with a smoky plume of black inside, forming inky silhouettes of monstrous forms. The artifact's youth means it doesn't store many shapes, and clawing against the gemstone's dark surface implies that this may be for the best.

==Artifact Mechanics==
Mazatlias is a necklace of a bone-white chain on a matching case. The material of both chain and casing is unknown, though it feels and appears like a more fluid ivory. Embedded inside is a dark purple gemstone, assumed to be a deeply mutated amethyst. Past the surface of this centerpiece is a smoky plume of black that seems to form inky silhouettes of the monstrous forms Mazatlias’ holders have taken. The youth of the artifact, for now, means that there are not many shapes stored within the Artifact’s memory, but the motions of clawing against the dark surface of the gemstone imply that this may be for the best.
Artifact Mechanics are split between Permanent Mechanics, Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics. Permanent Mechanics are always available to the wielder of the Artifact. Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics are only available if the Artifact has an Artifactspark. Sparked Combat Mechanics are noted separately, because this makes them easier to find, but they are no different from Sparked Mechanics in general. For more information on Artifactsparks, read the [[Resources#Artifacts|Resources]] Page. For Rules on Artifact ownership, see the [[Artifacts]] Page.

Artifacts are very cool, and make a Character super powerful. That being said, due to circumstances of Roleplay, a Character may end up holding onto an Artifact for months on end. This is generally not a problem, but we believe that Artifacts because of their uniqueness, should never be held onto in perpetuity by one Player. After a few months, it is time for the next player to be able to enjoy the artifact, and for this reason, Collectibles exist. After 120 days of non-consecutive Artifact ownership, an Artifact is automatically confiscated, and the Player who lost it is given a Collectible. Collectibles are thematically and aesthetically similar to the Artifact, meaning the loss of an Artifact does not visually detract from a Character's established design. However, they cannot hold Artifactsparks and only inherit the Permanent Mechanics from the Artifact they were generated from (including the rules limiting their use). On the other hand, Collectibles can never be stolen from their owner, a Collectible is owned forever, and there is no upper limit to the amount of Collectibles a Character can have, or wield/use at the same time. Collectibles may be traded away by their owner if they are unable to use the Permanent Mechanic due to the use limitation. To summarize this Artifact's Collectible properties:
* Marty Will Fill This In
* The UNIQUE NAME  Collectible inherits the Permanent Mechanic of Mazatlias but can only be used by MARTY/ALEX FILL IN. While there are several UNIQUE NAME, each looks unique, though should be inspired by the appearance of Mazatlias.

==Artifact Mechanics==
Mazatlias is a Void Magic Artifact. As Mazatlias is an Artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see Artifact page. Mazatlias also provides the following specials:
====Permanent Mechanics====
* Allows the user to mutate their own familiars evolving them into Void Corrupted versions of themselves, dangerous even without its spark due to the powerful demon within.
====Permanent Mechanics====
* Mazatlias gives the user a Monster Transformation, flavored to their choice. If the user already has a Monster Transformation from another mechanic, transforming grants +1 Attack Stat and +1 Defense Stat. (breaks cap up to 11/9)
====Artifactspark Mechanics====
* Choose 2 Free Packs from the following Categories: Invocation, Adapt, Mounted.
* Mazatlias makes the user adapt to stimuli around it, in the image of the greatest of beasts. The user can utilize Mounted Point Buy without the need to be on a mount, but still counts as Mounted for the purposes of counters.
* Mazatlias inherits a wish to rule the wilds. In combat, for each ally also in a Monstrous Transformation, the wielder gains a +1 to the minimum of their Attack Rolls. This caps at +5.
====Legendary Artifactspark Mechanics====
* Choose 1 Free Pack from the following Category: Mounted.
* Mazatlias allows for the user to siphon the power of those they defeat. On contributing to the KO of a target (contributing means dealing at least 4HP of damage), with mechanics from either Arkenborn, Marken, Vampire, or Mortisphage, the user of Mazatlias can steal one of their mechanics, disabling it and gaining access to it. All stolen mechanics are returned when Mazatlias is desparked. Regardless of disguises, the victim will always know who it was that sealed the Mechanic. Mazatlias cannot take: Bremnevel Mechanic 1, Gate Guard Mechanic 1 or 2, Body Arkenborn Mechanic 2
* The Legendary Artifactspark Jewelry grants the user +2 Attack Stat (breaks cap up to 11) and +2 Defense Stat (breaks cap up to 9), and sets the minimum for their Attack and Defense Dice Rolls to 2. When the user is KO’d, they can choose to instantly teleport them, and the Artifact, safely to their home. This can only be done once (and must be reported to Lore Staff). Subsequent uses of this tepeort mechanic must sacrifice the Artifact’s Spark in order to teleport the user and the Artifact. The Artifact is considered de-sparked, and the Artifactspark is granted to whoever KO’d the user.

Description

Mazatlias is a bone-white chain necklace with a matching case. The material is unknown but feels like fluid ivory. It features a dark purple gemstone, possibly a mutated amethyst, with a smoky plume of black inside, forming inky silhouettes of monstrous forms. The artifact's youth means it doesn't store many shapes, and clawing against the gemstone's dark surface implies that this may be for the best.

Artifact Mechanics

Artifact Mechanics are split between Permanent Mechanics, Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics. Permanent Mechanics are always available to the wielder of the Artifact. Sparked Mechanics and Sparked Combat Mechanics are only available if the Artifact has an Artifactspark. Sparked Combat Mechanics are noted separately, because this makes them easier to find, but they are no different from Sparked Mechanics in general. For more information on Artifactsparks, read the Resources Page. For Rules on Artifact ownership, see the Artifacts Page.

Collectible Artifact

  • Marty Will Fill This In
  • The UNIQUE NAME Collectible inherits the Permanent Mechanic of Mazatlias but can only be used by MARTY/ALEX FILL IN. While there are several UNIQUE NAME, each looks unique, though should be inspired by the appearance of Mazatlias.

Trivia

  • The mysterious being that contacted Motēuczōma is still in question, though most theories point to it being the Arken of Corruption or Body, or the Spirit Sovereign Milai. The effortless turnaround of the cult leader into a new line of thinking implies Corruption, but the animalistic mutagenic preferences of the new Cult of the Baleblood point to Milai or Body’s involvement
  • Remember, Monster-like transformations are illegal in Regalia.
