Artifacts
NameNarselendis
OriginRegalia
TypeWeapon/Object

Not strictly a weapon, but not strictly a non-combat object either, Narselendis is the golden calcified cobra fang of Narsil (about the size of a grown man's forearm), the Marken-Archon-pet-guard of Arch Chancellor Morgan Kade. Narsil was executed immediately after Morgan was overthrown and could no longer protect him. The courtiers at the Palace were in fear and disgust of Narsil, as he was a Marken that never spoke but permanently appeared in a wide-framed cobra form, scales painted gold. After Narsil's death, his fangs were preserved, along with several of his bones that were put on display in the Imperial Palace. When the Guided Unionists declared him a God-Guide, the bones were stored in the palace archive to avoid offending them for having his bones on public display as some curiosity. In the curating of his bones however, it was discovered that one of his fangs had been broken off the display, and taken, perhaps years prior. How Narsil's fang turned into a weapon or object of artifact power is unclear, though scholars speculate it lends credence to the Guided Unionist theories that divinity is also present in other entities outside of Dogmatic Unionist views. Narselendis fell into the hands of obscure nobles, where it would quickly acquire micro-fame for its primary useful property: revealing poison or harmful substances in liquids. Narselendis would skip ownership multiple times before disappearing somewhere in Regalia when the last baron who owned it was killed in a way that Narselendis could not protect him from: an arrow to the neck. The name Narselendis is a compound term that combines the name Narsil, and Elendis meaning "exile" in Old-Anglian.

Artifact Mechanics

Narselendis is a Unionist God Magic Artifact. There are rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see the Artifact Page. Artifacts also provide Mechanics.

Permanent Mechanics

  • Narsilendis grants the user the ability to use Marken Transformation without being a Marken, and the ability to speak in normal language while in Marken form. When in Marken form, Narsilendis grants +1 to Attack Stat. (breaks cap up to 11). If the user is already a Marken, they also gain full control of themselves while transformed, and gain +2 Attack Stat instead.

Artifactspark Mechanics

  • Choose 2 Free Packs from the following Categories: Roguery Point Buy, Theurgy Point Buy, Melee Point Buy
  • Narsilendis is a fang of a venomous Marken, and when inserted into a liquid or substance that is poisoned, envenomed, or otherwise harmful to consume/touch, it will turn black to indicate danger. Additionally, the user is immune to poisons and venoms.
  • Narsil was prone to great violence in the name of his master, and Narsilendis is no different. When the wielder of Narsilendis contributes (contributing means dealing at least 4HP of damage) to KOing a non-Unionist character in a combat scene, their next Move gains +5 Blocks, and their next Attack applies the Weakened Status Effect, which lasts for 4 Turns.

Legendary Artifactspark Mechanics

  • Choose 1 Free Pack from the following Category: Roguery
  • Those that escaped Narsil were not much better off than those who didn’t. Once per day when contributing to KOing a target, the wielder of Narsilendis can apply a slow-acting venom, lowering either the target’s Attack or Defense Stat by -4. This lasts for 48 Hours, and is removed automatically, but cannot be removed early.
  • The Legendary Artifactspark Weapon grants the user +3 Attack Stat (breaks cap up to 11) and +1 Defense Stat (breaks cap up to 9), and sets the minimum for their Attack Dice Rolls to 5. When the user is KO’d, they can choose to instantly teleport them, and the Artifact, safely to their home. This can only be done once (and must be reported to Lore Staff). Subsequent uses of this teleport mechanic must sacrifice the Artifact’s Spark in order to teleport the user and the Artifact. The Artifact is considered de-sparked, and the Artifactspark is granted to whoever KO’d the user.

Trivia

  • Remember, just because Player Characters OOCly understand what an Artifact can do, the Regalian State and Law Enforcement treats the Marken Transformation exactly the same, as if the Character was infected with Markenism.
