When Otto Brunig founded the Viridian Order following the Five Family Rebellion, he understood that it took more than just the Anglians to overthrow the Amelore Kingdom. The Solvaan were among the allies who contributed to the conflict and went on to become significant partners with the new Empire. When Emperor Theomar invited Solleria to join the Empire, Otto Bruning was present during the negotiations. He later met the Ëssela-Neveïa (Mist Shield) of Solleria, the representative of the Myst Wardens. The two quickly became close friends, leading the Ëssela-Neveïa to gift their signet ring to the Viridian grandmaster. This ring would later be known as Otto’s Ring and would serve as a memento of Solvaan history with the Viridian Order. After Otto’s death, his ring was given to a Solvaan knight, who established the tradition of passing the ring to another Solvaan upon the death of a grandmaster. Otto’s Ring was presented to Talsir Bel-Marisar in honor of grandmaster Jean-Baptiste Tuillerons, who had died during the Deathling crisis several years earlier.
Appearance
Otto’s Ring is an ornate band of silver crafted with ornate, wavy patterns that evoke the Sollerian Mists. Inscribed around the ring is a Solvaan prayer to Sinnavei, written in Altalar calligraphy, which blesses the wearer with vigilance and protection against the mythical beasts of Solleria. At the center of the ring is a sapphire that sparkles like the stars when held up to the light.
