James could recall fond memories of the village he grew up in, where the skies always seemed to be a magnificent blue, no matter the season. Not many would know the name of where he grew up, but all of its local people were thick as thieves. When a package was delivered to his home, he could faintly recall the face that belonged to the name ‘Deirdre’. She was a widow that lived with her son, who manned a small forgery at the time. Deirdre would often sit in and watch, knitting together articles of clothing for people of the village. James was never told, but she created a cloak for him around his thirteenth birthday, convinced that he would one day become a strong warrior. Now, upon his graduation to a Captain, Saltshawl had arrived, along with a letter from Deirdre that said his father would be so proud.
Appearance
Saltshawl is a long cloak that is a fair light blue. It has some darker blue fabrics woven in, which form a wave-like pattern. It feels to be made of wool, but has the texture of silk, leaving it soft to the touch. When wrapped around the neck, one side always seems to be a little longer than the other. It always smells of seawater, no matter how many times it might be washed. When wet, the material looks to be slightly reflective.

Saltshawl is a Knight Collectible Artifact. As an artifact, there are several rules associated with Artifact Ownership, see Artifact Page. It also provides the following Mechanics:
Waterproof: While wearing Saltshawl, all of James’ belongings, plus his body, will not become wet when exposed to natural sources of water. It is not fully resistant to magically created water, but still offers some protection.
